Cheetah Check-in Sat July 1st

Cathlete
Good morning cheetahs

Glad you had fun with your company Jess!!

Wendy...welcome back! great pics, I am a huge lover of sunsets and those are beautiful! You and your DH looked great in that formal pic!! Sounds like you really had a good time...:)

Mattea...overhead presses are not my fav shoulder exercise either but I do like all the others! The shinsplint was alot better yesterday, so not running today should help..:)..Congrats on upping the wieght in S&H! That is tough to do for me..you are working your way to bionic status!!!

Christine...I have not been to Hawaii for a long time. It is fun there and I bet you and DH will have a great time! Hope your 10 mile trail run/hike goes well today. Let us know how the belly dancing goes!..http://www.angelfire.com/biz2/bette/bluean.gif Your thoughts about what to do after P90X sounds good. If you can I think S&H would be worth it to get. I know for me after my 1st P90X rotation I did the lean rotation and just added more weight lifting on some days.

Marcia...hope you are feeling better today.

Barb...hope you did get some rest yesterday. How nice it'll be when your DS gets back!

Pamela...hope you have a nice weekend too.

Karen...hope you and your family have fun at Hershey Park sunday!

I am doing some floorwork for legs and one of the Janis Saffell kickboxing today.

Have a great day..http://smilies.sofrayt.com/sae/july4_5.gif

Good Morning everyone!

Carole, I don't ever recall you doing a kickboxing work out before! Is this something new for you? :)

Yesterday I did a f/b weight work out on my own + abs/stretch from MM and then I went to the gym for a run...what a laughable event THAT was!x( First of all, I never changed my sneakers so when I got to the gym I realized I still had my crosstrainers on! I decide to get on the TM anyway and if I'm not happy I'll just stop and do something else...okay fine. Then my mp3 player starts acting up and acting up and acting up! Every 15 seconds the thing would shut off...I WAS SOOO MAD! I just barely was able to get through a 2 mile run and did most of it sans music. x( I then forced myself to walk a fast mile using various inclines just to do something else since the run was so lame. :-( :-( :-(

DH bought me the MP3 player for my B'day 2 months ago and I have had problems with it starting pretty early on. He doesn't have the rcpt but he bought it from Target...I'm going to take it back there and complain. Can't hurt, right? I don't really expect anything but I gotta try cause the thing is a piece of JUNK!x( Okay...rant over!:p

So this morning I have DOMS! Some of it is from the weights cause I only did weight work once on vacation and it was pretty lame at that! LOL SOME of it though is surely from my dopiness...I forgot to stretch after my run at the gym yesterday!

I'm not sure what's up for today yet....

Hi Wendy...yes I did Kickbox every Sat when I did any P90X rotation, I prefer Cathe's KPC but when I saw the deal on 4 DVD's of Janis's for 10 bucks I couldn't pass it up!!

Sorry your workout was so screwy yesterday! I hate it when those things happen. So the DOMS is good right??? I am in a bind myself as I have 2 Heart Rate monitors in getting new batteries. Then I took my GPS Heart Rate monitor in to get the battery changed in it at a local place, well they screwed it up and now for the first time in like 30 years, I am running without any watch!!!!! http://smilies.sofrayt.com/eng/swear2.gif[/img]

Carole,

Ahhhh, yes, I DO remember you doing K/B during P90X...please excuse me, I must have "vacation brain" still!;) :p
OMG, I hope you get an HRM back soon! I can imagine that must be making you crazy! :-(

Hello Cheetahs!! Granny Cheetah checking in after a nice long vacation break! DH and I had a fantastic time at Lake George, NY, We left right before the major rains started:) I even got in some great whitewater kayaking on the Sacandaga :7 We spent the next week on the Jersey Shore visiting DH's family...I survived!

I did get to run TWO races! The first was on Sat. the 24th. It was an 8k (5 miles). I thought I might manage to get under 40 minutes and I did:) My time was 39:51 and my pace was 08:01!! I was flipping through a magazine for Jersey runners afterwards and noticed a 5k being run in the area the next day and I thought, why not? I've actually never run this distance before so I thought I'd give it a whirl. I was still feelin good :) Well.... my time
was 23:55:7 :7 with a pace of 7:42! I was pretty blown away by that time considering I had raced 5 miles the day before! I guess NJ agrees with me! Makes me wonder what I can do on a 5k when I'm fully rested.

I see you're back from vacation too Wendy! I didn't get in much in the way of weights either, Yesterday I did HSC and the blasts from Low Max. Feeling OK this morning though and ready for my long run on my marathon training. I'll be heading out soon for 10 miles...back to the hills again }(

Hi Carole!! Your 50k is getting close isn't it?

I'll check back later for some personals, I need to go back and see what I've missed! I know I did miss chatting with all you lovely cheetahs!!!!

ShellyC

Good morning Cheetahs!!

Carole- enjoy your workout today! Hope the shin splints are gone & don't come back!!

Wendy- sorry about the TM workout y'day!! Hope today's workout is better for you!

Shelly - glad to see you back!! What are you talking about being a Granny Cheetah?? You're fast, girl!!! WTG on the races & good to see ya again!

As for me, I did a 7.25 mile run this morning w/ my friend Melissa & Team in training. It was a lot slower than I'm used to & they stop a lot for water breaks, but it was still nice to have a group to run with. My friend Erin that I usually run with is in CO this weekend so I'm just glad I didn't have to run alone!

I think we might head to the pool again today, it's gonna be another hot day. We're meeting tonight for a bday celebration for my dd, Allison (she'll be 3 on Monday!!! ) w/ some family. It will be fun. I finally got her bday presents bought last night, I'm so behind!!

Have a great Saturday!!

Hugs,

Oh yeah, and I added a few new pics to my picture trail- some from our vacation to the Dells & some from our friends visit in the June '06 folder. TFL!

Hi everyone. Today is a rest day for me as well as tomorrow with us going to Hershey.

Carole- Have a great 4th.

Wendy- Once again the pics are great. Can't wait to see more.

Jess- Happy B-Day to your daughter

ShellyC- You blow me away. Those times are just fabulous. I can't say enough. You are awesome.

Wendy-So glad you are back and the pics are wonderful! I really love your little black dress (nice chest definition!) and didn't know your DH looked so much like Ed Kowalchik (lead singer of Live);-) I got my MP3 player (a Sandisk) off of buy.com over 9 months ago and I have loved it every time I've used it w/ no trouble at all. I got a great deal and only spent about half price w/ free shipping.

ShellyC-Go Granny Cheetah Go!! Sweet merciful crap you are fast!!:7 :7 I'm so glad that you are back as well, and that you survived, dun, dun, dun THE IN-LAWS!!!;-) So what restaurants did they drag you to?

Carole-What are the Janis Saffel Kb workouts like? I'd like to have a little more KB variety to choose from, but don't really know if I'd be able to get into anything other than Cathe. Hated Taebo and never really tried anything else. Yeah, did you read Christine's post where she's using 20's for overhead presses??

Jess-Beautiful pics! Happy b-day to your baby girl:7 Doesn't having someone to run with do WONDERS for motivation? DH is just easing himself back into consistent running after his calf injury and I've been running w/ him every chance I get. Oh and three words: Slip and Slide!!!

Karen-Have fun at Hershey Park, that will be such a blast:+ Be sure to take some pics of the girls terrified after the big rides;-)

Christine-Yeah, I'd want a lock for sure:D Even if I had abs like Cathe, it's just the idea of belly dancing in front of anyone, lol! Sounds like you have made some AMAZING gains with P90X!! 20's for overhead presses? Those burn me everytime with 15's. Personally I love S&H and always feel like I have such great definition with, so I'd say for for it (enable...)

Pamela! Hey lady, good to hear from you! Have a great holiday:D

Barb-Yes, DH and I almost always make double something one night to use part or all of again the next time. For example, if we grill veggies for salad, we make double and use the extra for veggie wraps the next night. So it's kind of a one night easy, one night hard, lol! Yeah, I sent my mom to Isa's website to see the cupcake pics (she loves cupcakes) and she ended up loving her humor more than the pics! I really loved the Living Cuisine cookbook the best as it was totally vegan and not chock full of salads and soy.

Today is a rest day for me but I did some Mr. Yummypants this morning (#2 Tone which I like better than #1 b/c you don't do endless sun salutations) and DH and I are hoping to get to my parents' house today if the roads open.

Hi to all the lovely other cheetahs who check in later!
Mattea

My girls are the same way!! Especially my oldest, the scarier ride the better for her!!! My 5yo is a little more timid, but she's getting braver now too. If only my almost 3yo were taller she'd be on every scary ride there was!! (total dare devil!)

Have fun!!

Hugs,

Hey Mattea!! It is fun having someone to run with, I'm so thankful for Erin & Melissa!!! They've made my during the week runs much easier too!!

I also do a lot of bigger meals & then make leftover meals the next night. I hate cooking every night, so that works for me!

And the slip & slide was fun, once I got over the initial shock of how cold the water was!!! Yikes!! The kids love it though & they especially loved the huge water fight!

Glad you enjoyed Mr. YP & have a great day!

Hugs,

*Strolls into post chuckles* Whatever was I thinking asking you wonderful ladies if I should get a Cathe workout?! :+ Okay, okay, you sold me...

Carole - Have fun kickboxing. I enjoy a good kickbox workout. Let us know what you think of those.

Karen - Oh have fun at Hershey Park! I have so many wonderful memories of that park. I remember when the SuperDuperLooper first opened. It was the talk of the town. Now it seems kind of tame. My favorite is still the Comet though!

Wendy - I'm sorry you had such a frustrating workout! I hate when everything just seems to work against me. Hope all goes better next time!

Shelly - Great to hear you had such a wonderful vacation! And WAY TO GO on the TWO races!!! YEAH!!!

Jess - Happy early Birthday to you DD!! 3 is such a wonderful age! Great job on the run and have fun swimming.

Mattea - I'm hoping the roads open soon. I hear the water is receeding in a lot of places. Glad you weren't flooded! Yeah, I think I'll get S&H. Just not sure exactly WHEN I'll get it.

Looks like the 10 mile trail run will be postponed until tomorrow - the World Cup is on! (DH, not me - I would rather play than watch others play). So I'm still undecided what I want to do. I'll figure it out soon enough. LOL. I'm feeling P90X legs and back - upped the weights I use and concentrated hard. It's not too bad, just enough to let me know I worked out. I'm also feeling the kick boxing in my upper abs. (Love that feeling!). Edited to add - I guess DH and I are going to do a quick trail run to warm up for tomorrow. We're going to Sanborn, which is a fun hike up and fast single track run down through the Redwoods. It's short - only 4.5 miles, but it's steep and just a gorgeous hike/run. We'll go at 10 after the World Cup game...

So, assuming I get S&H (which y'all know I will), should I start it before the GS or do 3 weeks of GS, then S&H? I'm thinking with the way P90X is situated, it would almost be better to do S&H first. But I don't know... Maybe it really doesn't matter...

Hi everyone.

I'm sorrybut I don't have time for personals because I have things to do before we head out for the bbq this afternoon. I just wanted to check in quickly with my work out today:

2 miles on the TM: 20.30 mins
2 miles on the Elliptical: 40 min Itrain W/O

Hope everyone has a great day!:)

Hello again! Got back from a 9 mile hill run. I guess I got spoiled with running on relatively flat land back east. It was challenging x(

Wendy- Sounds like you had a great time on your cruise! Are you going to post some pics? Good workout today!!!!! I really know what you mean about how you spend your downtime on vacation! It is so hard for me to endure visiting with the in-laws for that reason! All they do is go out to eat and watch TV.

Jess- I peaked at your latest pics. Allison is so darn cute!!!!
I envy your selection of running partners and having the team in training available. Mostly because of my work schedule and where I live I have to run alone :-(

Karen- I caught up on the posts for the last few days. You poor injured cheetah! I'm glad you're doing the right thing with the resting but it is hard when you love to run so much! Why don't you take this as an opportunity to develop new skills in cross training,
like swimming and biking? Then, once your healing period is complete you'll be ready for a triathlon }( }( }(

Hi Mattea! I just got a taste of the wet weather on my vacation.
It was actually raining off and on during my 5k, although not heavily. It felt good! I'm glad you're not flooded! I got quite the restaurant tour with my in-laws of course. The first night we were there they couldnt wait to take us to their favorite-Charlie Browns. The hardest thing about vacationing with the in-laws is that they are all so sedentary! I just about jump out of my skin with boredom :(

Christine- 20 lb overhead presses    My oh my! Doing those on the Cathe tapes with #15s has me trembling! Let us know how you like the bellydancing! I have a friend who is quite into that. She has formed her own troupe and they perform all over! It looks like a lot of fun....and great core work as well!

Barb- Hi there girl! How ya been? I hope your rest day helped you feel better!

Pamela- I guess you've been having some really tough family problems lately. You know we all care!!! Hang in there!

Time to go for some shopping to replenish supplies. Last vacation day....tomorrow night is back to work :(

ShellyC

Well, now that I have showered and dressed and gotten a few things done around the house, I have a few mins for personals before I have to get DS up and going. :)

ShellyC...AWESOME RACE TIMES!!! I posted some pics of my vacation already. Click on my picturetrail link and look at the first album.:) I LOVE going out to eat :9 but unfortunately the bod does not agree with me! I find going out to eat to be a fun social outing...Now if I could bring food from home I'd be set!;) :7 As far as tv watching goes...I have minimal patience for it normally but next to NONE when I'm on vacation! Only when I've had a super exhausting day and NEED to rest do I enjoy TV on vacation...or perhaps a bit before going to sleep at night but that's it!:)

Christine...My DH started watching the World Cup on vacation and is now hooked. He's watching it right now! UGH! LOL Odd though because I have never known him to have an interest in soccer....Hope you had a good hike/run this morning with your DH! Hey, I missed your post on it but I saw that Carole had mentioned Hawaii to you...are you going on vacation soon?? :+

Mattea...I have no idea what the lead singer of LIVE looks like but I'm going to have to check it out now! :7 Thanks re the pic! I was surprised when I loaded the pics on the computer and found that most of them came out good! I usually HATE my pics!:7 If Target can't do anything for me with the MP3 player I'm going to have to get a new one...:-(

Karen...Sorry to hear about the running. How long do you have to take it easy for?

Jess...Hope you had fun at the pool if you went! What did you buy your DD for her Birthday? :)

Shelly...welcome back!...Nice to hear you survived the inlaws...:)...WOW...you are one fast granny cheetah!! Congrats on the 2 race times....http://bestsmileys.com/signs16/19.gif[/img] Yes my 50K is 2 weeks from today!

Jess...thanks and I don't even feel the shinsplint today! Sounds like you got in a good run today. Happy B-Day to your DD..http://smilies.sofrayt.com/eng/bday16.gif[/img]

Mattea...Janis's KB is fun just not real intense. You might like it more than Taebo. I did the Powerstrike one today and during the strength segment the music was the same music as in Bodymax....that was weird...:)...yes I did see Christines post about the 20's...I think I got up to 17.5 during P90X for overhead presses...glad to hear you enjoyed Mr YP! Hope your parents are doing okay..

Christine...the Powerstrike one I did today was fun. Almost like the leg conditioning drills near the end. I'd say do GS first as it might have more of a fun factor than S&H. You really need to concentrate with S&H to get the best benefits. I did have a belly dancing image posted for you this morning, but it seems it isn't showing now....bizarre...

So after Powerstrike I added on MM shoulder's, bi's and tri's, and then S&H abs. A nice workout.

Sounds like you all are doing well today...
