Checkin 4-27-02

Steppingup

Cathlete
Hey everybody!! I hope everyone had a good, sick-free week. It's been busy as usual and we are still having weird weather. It's been warm and then all of a sudden Friday was sooooo cold and today was very nice. My workouts were a little jumbled because of things getting in the way but I still think I did fairly well.

MONDAY: Total Body at the gym
15 minute stretch

TUESDAY: Totally Cool Step
15 minute stretch

WEDNESDAY: Lower Body at the gym
Totally Hot Cardio (1st section)
15 minute stretch

THURSDAY: Upper Body at the gym
CIA 2205 Ann's 1st section.
15 minute stretch

FRIDAY: Visited a friend who built a house a while back. She wanted me to see it and get ideas for my house. It was a very nice house on the water. Spent a majority of the day traveling.

SATURDAY: One hour of planting flowers. Still have another two hours to go, by my estimation. Fun, Fun!!

I was not real impressed with Ann's workout. It seemed awkward and pieced together. I liked Ann and I may like the routine once I do the whole thing and learn it a little better. Her cueing definitely could have been better. My gym workouts are going well and I think I will start the 8-week program that is in the newest Muscle and Fitness Hers on Tuesday. I can't Monday because I'm traveling with DH to Georgia. I can tell a difference when I'm stepping in that my legs feel stronger. Yeaaa!

Ya'lls turn!!!!!

Kelly: I agree, this weather is WEIRD!!!

Nothing much to say for my week...went back to the S&H workouts (I absolutely LOVE those workouts!) for a change of pace.

Monday: S&H Legs/Shoulders

Tuesday: S&H Back/Triceps

Wednesday: Rest day

Thursday: S&H Chest/CTX Power Cardio/Planks/Abs

Friday: Scott Cole - Mill. Stretch

Saturday: S&H Biceps/Triceps/Abs; 30 min Stairmaster

Sunday: Undecided - thinking PS Legs.

That's it for me! Next!

Terri

I had a good exercise week! Eating wasn't bad either!

Kelly--do you find you get a big benefit from stretching each day? Are your muscles lengthened?

Terri--looks like a good week for you!

My week looked like this:

M: MIS + walk 20 minutes
T: run 1/2 hour and floor legs with Body Bar and abs + walk 20 minutes
W: Cardio Kicks
T: run 1/2 hour + 15 minute stretch + abs
F: PH + run 1/2 mile
S: Step Max + walk 50 minutes
S: contemplating BodyMax for later (after grocery shopping)

Have a nice week everyone!

Linda

My week felt jumbled too. I like my workouts to feel very structured. Oh well, looks like next week will be the same, as today is my outside run day and it's cold and windy.

Sun. 3 mile run

Mon. Taught a hi/lo

Tue. Awesome Abs on the Ball, CTX upper body split

Wed. Taught a hi/lo

Thu. Hubby was sick, son was (and still is cranky), and I think I was paranoid I was going to get sick cause I felt crummy all day. So rest.

Fri. Hills on treadmill 30 min. AWESOME WORKOUT!, 2101 Pump Party horrible workout.

Sat. Went into Vegas with my two boys and got everything done in 2 1/2 hours! So, without hubby's help that was a workout! Not really, but I didn't do anything else!

Now I'm off to see what you are doing next Linda :)
Andrea

Hi everyone! My week went pretty well as far as workouts go, now if I could just get my eating to be cleaner. I got sick about 2 weeks ago and my eating went to he** and I'm having problems getting things back on track, but this week is a new week. My workouts...

Mon--Power Kicks (no abs, was late for work)

Tues--attempted the first 15 min of Kagan's Step This Way and got frustrated so I said, "I'll show you!" and proceeded to do ALL of MIC + abs

Wed--Power Hour (omitted lunges and planks...just felt tired)

Thur--recumbent bike 45 min, moderate intensity, rolling hills setting + abs

Fri--Planned rest day

Sat--S&H Chest/Back + CTX Kickbox cardio + abs

Sun--plan on doing just cardio today but havent decided what

Have a good week everyone!!

:) Stacy

Hi Everyone,
I had an o.k week...but i am feeling a little sluggish. One of my husbands bosses got me some herbal stuff to take before you work out to give you more enery and endurance.Well...it as been a week later and all that i can say is that i have had a very crabby week.I am always in a sour mood..very irritable and it diffently didn't give me anymore energy. If anything I don't want to get up off of the couch. But i did so here was my work week..
Sunday:Ran 9 Kms
Monday;Ryhtmic step and power hour
Tuesday: Ran 9 kms and did step intervals
Wednesday: Step works and 30 min of weights
Thursady: Ran 9 kms
Friday: took the day off
Saturday:Kathy Smiths fat burning break through and step intervals and now we are back to Sunday...where if I can I am going to go for a 12kms run but it is windy and cold and I hate running in the wind.
So I have decided the best thing for my childs life and for my marriage is that i better stop taking these pills.I went to bed at 10 on Friday night and got up at 8 the next morning and at work yesterday I still felt like I had 2 hours sleep.Plus i was trying to cut back to 1200 cals a day and that may also be why I am not happy.Anyway widh me luck for this week I may need it
Thanks for listening to me bitch....hahaha

LAST EDITED ON Apr-28-02 AT 08:45AM (Est)[p]Hey guys!

Sounds like good weeks.

Kelly - glad you are liking the gym. Funny I've got my upper body routine down but now lower body - so I'm doing LL, S&H leg -hmmm with all the machines I may try to get something for lower body at the gym - what do you do?

Terri - I'm with you I LOVE S&H but with the gym I haven't been getting much in these days - other than Legs since I do Upper body at the gym 3 times a week

Andrea - I know that jumbled up feeling with work outs - considering I ended out doing PC and S&H legs on the same day - I like the flexibility - but there is a limit!!

Keeping with my goal 3 - Upper Body, 3- Lower Boday, 4 cardio (I was one off on cardio).

Sunday
Gym Upper Body
Run 2.5
Monday
rest
Tues
Lean Leg
Weds
Gym Upper Body
10-10-19
Thurs
Lean Leg
Friday
Gym Upper Body
Saturday
S&H Leg and Power Circuit
(bad combination) but I realized i was low on leg after I did power circuit

Last nite I realized how much I love S&H - I may skip the gym today and do S&H today - so much for a routine!

Have a great week all

I just got the M&F hers ---- SOOO motivating!

Linda: I haven't noticed any lengthening of my muscles visually (still have some fat on top of them). My main reason for stretching so much is to keep my back limber. I have back pain and I'm very stiff in my lower back. Soooo, I pay close attention to that and try to keep my hamstrings loose and my hips as well as I do some back exercises my chiro suggested.

Robyn: I have noticed difference in my leg strength since going to the gym and a little bit more muscle too. I do leg presses, leg extensions, ham curls, calf raises, and I use the adductor/abductor machine. I find that I cannot work my legs as hard at home (safely). My back does not hold up to heavy weights while squatting and lunging. I am much more comfortable with the machines and I am hoping this will help with my back weakness because of my back problems.

Hi, Lori!

Umm, Lori ... Looking at your workout schedule on 1200 cal a day, I don't think it's the pills that are making you feel sluggish. Based on everything I've read, you probably need a good 2000 cal to sustain the high intensity workouts that you're doing. If you're trying to lose weight, the severe calorie deprivation will probably hinder that goal.

Just a suggestion!

OK, I'm finally back! I did a pretty good job of doing nothing but walking for the whole three weeks post-op. I just had to stop reading the Cathe forum, because it just reminded me of what I was missing. Anyway, here's my week:

MONDAY: Pilates session
TUESDAY: walk 10/run 9, 500 yd. swim
WEDNESDAY: active rest, some hiking at work
THURSDAY: 30 min. hike, 30 min. bike
FRIDAY: 500 yd. swim
SATURDAY: walk 30/run 11

Give you one guess as to what I'm training for. ;-) I'm starting out slow, and not doing any resistance training yet. I'll probably start adding in upper body this week. I can really feel the four weeks off of weights when I swim.

Have a great week everybody, and enjoy the crazy spring weather!

RE: Hi, Lori!

Im sure that is true.but I would takes these pills in the morning right before I ate...so I wasn't actually hungry when I was sour. I have cut back to 1200 cals before and the results were amazing but it is a pretty low calorie range..and left no room for treats.I think 1500 cals suits me better.
I am trying to lose a little bit of weight .....the last 10 pounds to be exact...does anyone reach there pre-pregnancy weight??? Thanks everyone....

LAST EDITED ON Apr-28-02 AT 04:17PM (Est)[p]Hi guys

I missed the checkin last week but here goes:

Monday - High Low Heaven, stages 1 and 2

Tuesday - rest

Wednesday - PS BBA in a.m. and Intense Moves in p.m.

Thursday - rest (unplanned)

Friday - High Low Heaven - woke up early enough to do all of it

Saturday - Interval Express

Sunday - Powerstrike #1, stage 1 of Step Heaven and Power Mat Science.

Now that our weather seems to be warming up, I hope to get some running in soon. My eating has not been very clean and I really need to work on that aspect of my fitness. God knows I can't really workout much more or I will hurt myself.

And speaking of food, Lori you really do need to eat more or you will stunt any progress you are looking to make. It sounds like we could use a balance, me a bit less (I must come in somewhere between 2000 and 2500 every day) and you a bit more.

Kim
