Steppingup

Cathlete
Hello everyone! I just finished for the week so I thought I would start us off! I hope everyone has had a great week. I am having to modify my workouts for a while. I have had chronic back pain for some time now and I finally decided to go to a chiropractor. Right now I am seeing him three times a week (thank goodness my insurance pays for it). The x-rays show that the fifth vertebra in the lumbar area is pushed too far back and my pelvis is uneven a few other things. He also confirmed that my left leg is longer than my right leg. Anyway, he has adjusted me twice this past week. He says that I can lift weights but no deadlifts and no impact. So I can't run or do like 99% of my videos. He said walking would be good. Oh well, if he can get me pain free I will stand on my head and twirl around. He said it would take several weeks for him to retrain my muscles to hold my pelvic bones in place correctly. I KNOW that was way more than you wanted to know but I am excited about getting this fixed. :)

MONDAY: Still Steppin

TUESDAY: S&H Chest/Back

WEDNESDAY: Action Packed (step). This was before my doctor visit. I knew he would probably limit me so I wanted to get in one last HARD workout. This fit the bill perfectly.

THURSDAY: Nothing

FRIDAY: Nothing. No time. Cooked for my mother's birthday and stood up all day. My back was aching big time but the meal turned out great.

SATURDAY: S&H Tris/Bis/Shoulders and some yardwork. I wanted to do some cardio but back was really bothering me. :-(

I hope everyone else has done well this week and have a great week next week!!!!!!

Kelly

Thanks for starting this up Kelly. I sure hope your doc can get your back straightened out. Great week in spite of it all.

I have spent all week emailing back and forth with DebbieH. I am so excited! :-jumpy I am starting up aerobics and toning classes in my town on the 26th! :-jumpy DebbieH has been great answering tons of questions, and I will be working for her company. Did I say I was EXCITED!!! :-jumpy This is a dream I've had since high school, but never thought I'd actually do it. YIPPEE! :-jumpy

Sun. rest
Mon. RAW, no fusion
Tue. 10 min. of fusion
Wed. PS 1 hour upper body workout
Thu. Rhythmic Step
Fri. PS SLA
Sat. I was more beat today than all week and all I did was stand out in the hot (I live in Nevada and we are still wearings shorts and tees) sun telling cars where to park for our annual parade. Whew! :-tired

Hi Kelly, man!! I hope it doesn't take too long for your muscles to get retrained and you can be pain free. It sounds miserable! Best of luck to you on it!! And do what the doctor says!!
Well, it must be just that kind of week. I had to have the squad called on me on Mon. because everybody thought I was having a heart attack. I was just sitting at my computer at work and BAM!! Chest pains that took my breath away had me doubled over in tears. I had been complaining of my upper back hurting all morning long too. That a sign for women you all. Anyway, turns out I have gall stones. I have to go in on Wed. to have tests done to see how bad it is and what to do about my gallbladder. Oh what fun. Anyway, here's my week.

MON: walk a.m., BBA and Legs p.m.

TUES: walk .m., CST p.m.

WED: Walk/run in a.m.

THURS: yoga a.m., BBA and Legs p.m. (I can load my bbell to 90lbs now WAHHHHOOO!!)

FRI: walk a.m., CST p.m. (can only get the bbell to 75lbs, still... it's progress)

SAT: walk/run a.m.

SUN: walk and Yoga

Ok, have a great week everyone!!

Aimee

Hey guys...

First I'm going to send out healing thoughts for Aimee and Kelly this week....

Well, I didn't do any yoga this week which annoys me because I made a mental promise to myself to do it at least twice a week...Guess I'll have to work harder on that promise...

Monday: S&H Chest & Back/Planks

Tuesday: CTX 101010 Cardio/PS Floor Leg Work/Abs

Wednesday: S&H Biceps & Triceps

Thursday: Circuit Max

Friday: Rest Day (For some reason, I always need a rest day the day after I do Circuit Max....)

Saturday: CTX All Upper Body work/Abs

Sunday: Definitely will do a cardio video, maybe MIC ???

Have a good week, everyone!

Terri

Just curious as to why you're walking and running so much...part of the regimine for your competitions? How do you feel you benefit by walking and running? I don't feel I got any benefits body-shape wise from walking. It certainly never helped my legs.
Of course, I race walk, too.

I hit the button too many times, it seems!

I haven't been posting my workouts because I could do it in one word..."CTX." That's it for the past 2-1/2 weeks. But this week I did different stuff after starting out with CTX.

Sat.-Tues. all CTX. 10-10-10, All Step, Power Circuit, Kickbox along with their weight segments and my usual extra leg work. Then I rested on Wednesday, and did:

Thur. S&H legs
Fri. MIC and PSCST
Sat. Circuit Max and PS BBA

This morning I did Imax on an 8" step, and after MIC it was easy!

Today I wore a suit that I MADE in 1981, and it still fits! I have since stopped sewing...too much work. This baby has a double breasted lined jacket and man-taylored pants with pockets and all kinds of details. It was a bear to make, along with matching the pin stripes. I drag it out about once a year to show off the fact that I can still wear it!;-) That's an incentive in itself to work out and watch my eats....I have to always fit in that suit. I hope I can still wear it in 20 years when I'll be 72!

Hi Everyone!

It's nice to be back here. Boy, just don't seem to have that much time to post anymore and I sure miss you all. We are baby-sitting Kennedy. We have had her since 9:00AM yesterday! She has been an angel and guess what? She is STILL sleeping since I put her down last night at 8:30! I keep going in and checking on her! Well, she must have heard me "talking" about her. My hubby just walked in with her and she wants her bottle NOW! Papa is taking over for me til I am done here so I need to hurry.

Kelly & Aimee~Sorry to hear about your back and gall bladder. Keep us posted. I'm with Terri sending thoughts & prayers your way.

Andrea~I am just as EXCITED about this as you are! I am so glad you joined our team. Hey everyone, you can't imagine the confidence this girl has. She hasn't even received all her materials yet! It's MY pleasure to have Andrea fulfill a dream and you'll be awesome at it!!! You Go Girl!:-jumpy :-jumpy :-jumpy

Terri~I'm with you on the "yoga-promise". Just can't seem to get it in. It is always the first to go when I am trying to fit everything else in. Great week for you anyway!

Okay, my week:

MONDAY~S&H-LEGS, SHOULERS & ABS, taught a hi/lo class

TUESDAY~Taught a hi/lo class, S&H-CHEST, BACK & PLANKS

WEDNESDAY~S&H-TRIS, BIS & ABS, danced 10 hi/lo songs practicing for our new vid for Winter session

THURSDAY~Taught 2 hi/lo classes

FRIDAY~Firm Body Sculpting Basics w/Susan Harris, decided to give this vid a try after reading a post this past week about The Firm tapes which have definitely been collecting dust around here the past year. I was surprised how much I liked it and was really sore the next day. Lots of lower body work which I need! I do think this is a good total body workout to compliment my Cathe tapes.

SATURDAY~MIC, also dug this tape out after reading a post on it this week. Oh my goodness! I did the whole thing! I was so surprised though how much BETTER my endurance level was compared to when I did it last year.:7 It kind of got buried since I have received all my new Cathe's the past year. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it! The intensity drill at the end, tops it off just right. Couldn't get into the shower quick enough! YIKES!

SUNDAY~REST! :7 The kids will be coming down this afternoon to spend the day with us and then take Kennedy home with them. :-( Actually, I told my hubby yesterday that I forgot how much work a little one is. Whew-I RAN to the workout room as soon as she went down for her nap. Glad today is my day of rest!

Have a great week everyone. Kelly and Aimee, get well SOON. HoneyBunch-look forward to seeing you on Friday!

Hi guys!

I am so happy to be back on line after three weeks with a broken computer!
To Kelly and Amy--feel better SOON!
To Andrea--have a great time fulfilling your dream! Wow!
To Debbie--I think I'm feeling some of the excitement you felt when you found out Kennedy was on the way! My sister is pregnant with her first baby after three years of trying, miscarriage, etc. I am so incredibly excited for her, and I can't wait to go shopping for baby stuff :) :)

I won't check in with details for the past three weeks, but I did keep up with my rotation for two of them. One week I had a neck/back/shoulder pull/strain/pain that kept me in bed for a full day and not working out for an entire 5 days. I started back in with a 6 mile Walk to Cure Diabetes, and since then have been doing the rest of my 20 week muscular endurance rotation: 1 interval, 3-4 cardio, 3-4 core, 3-4 stretch, 2 MIS. Here's this week:

MONDAY: rest
TUESDAY: 55 minute walk + CMax core and stretch + PC abs
WEDNESDAY: active rest (housecleaning)
THURSDAY: am: MIS pm: Still Jumpin' +all planks and abs from S&H series + Imax stretch
FRIDAY: CK wu +Pmax I & II + MIC cd and stretches from MIC, Imax and Pmax
SATURDAY: rest
SUNDAY: today is MIS and some ligth cardio

I missed my interval workout this week. Ooops ;-)

Have a great week, everyone!

Yoga

Hi Terri :)

Just a thought--I have been wanting to fit yoga in, too, but can't find the time either. For the past couple of months I have been adding combined strech segments from Cathe's DVDs to the end of 3 or 4 workouts per week. Its not yoga, but I have noticed improvements in my flexability with just these 15 minutes segments tacked on. I want to gradually work my way up to longer stretch/yoga workouts...

Hi everybody. It is Remembrance Day here in Canada. It is the first one in my 38 years that has not been a peaceful one (world wise at least). I think the US calls this day by another name, perhaps Veteran's Day or some such thing. In any event, here was my week:

Monday - rest

Tuesday - rest

Wednesday - Rhythmic Step (I have been noticing some posts at VF saying that this tape had the worst music of 2001, however, I just love this step workout and really had not thought much one way or another about the music - perhaps I am tone deaf)

Thursday - Slow and Heay - biceps and triceps

Friday - walk/run 75 minutes in a.m.

Saturday - Cardio Kicks and then Crunch Fat Burning Yoga (first try on the this yoga tape and quite liked it)

Sunday - Not sure what I will do today. My man wants to do Slow and Heavy Chest and Back but I think I will do some cardio before he gets here, maybe Rhythmic Step.

Kelly - Take care of that back until it heals.

Aimee - Hopefully those gall stones won't give you too much grief. Most people I know get them removed, however, I always thought they were caused by too much high fat eating and we all know that has not been the case for you. Who really knows what each our of genetics has planned for us. With a mother and grandmother both having had breast cancer (my mother is now fine but I never knew my grandmother cause of the disease), I am hoping my lifestyle will help protect me.

Take care all,

Kim

RE: Hi Everyone!

Yes! Looking forward to it. We are both celebrating the fact that we are one year older.

Had trouble getting into the forum topics this morning. But I'm finally in.

Kelly--I'm actually glad to hear all about your chiropractic experience. I have a pelvic rotation that has caused me all sorts of grief, and just had my initial assessment last week.

Amy--good luck with the gallstones. Amazing how that abdominal pain can radiate all over the place.

Terri--I like to do yoga right before I go to bed. By staying up 30 minutes longer and really relaxing, I sleep much better. Of course, I have trouble getting myself to do it everyday. I just ordered a travel yoga mat and yoga CDs from Living Arts so I can do it at night after the kiddos go to bed on my outdoor ed center shifts.

Anyway, here's my week:
MONDAY--a.m. 45 min. walk/run (disastrous--I give up http://www.plauder-smilies.de/anger.gif on running--for now, anyway); p.m. Yoga Zone Evening Stress Relief
TUESDAY--swim drills, some sprints, met with personal trainer for first time--she seems really great!
WEDNESDAY--4 mile hike with kiddos
THURSDAY, FRIDAY--late nights with kiddos (one had to go home after he bit another kid in two places! :-rollen)
SATURDAY--utterly exhausted, unplanned rest
SUNDAY--Reebok Aerostep, PS CST; resolved to do yoga in p.m.

I finally did all the PS push-ups on my toes today, and got out the really big plates for my barbell for the first time. It's nice to see some results. It's taken me two years to get up to the same strength I had before my last big abdominal surgery. Now if I can just stay out of the OR ... ;-)

Gallstones

I have heard that a lot of people get gallstones after being on a very strict diet where their fat was seriously reduced. I think I have read somewhere that an abnormally high percentage of people doing the Nutri System diet ended up with gallstones, but I might be wrong about that. I found it interesting that Amy ended up with a problem after the very strict diet she was on and was wondering if they were related.
Anyway, hope you feel better soon Amy!!
And, Kelly, hope your back heals quickly!
Debbie and Honeybunch - do you both have birthdays coming up? If so, hope you both have very Happy Birthdays!!
Erica

Rhythmic Step music

I also saw those posts, and while doing RS that night there were a couple songs I really liked! I didn't really notice the rest. Glad I'm not the only one.

Andrea

This is only my second week posting on this forum. I had an emotional week. I learned we were pregnant again (we have a 10 month old). It was unplanned, but is starting to grow on me :) The only frustrating part is that I have been working very hard the last 5 months on getting back into shape and losing the rest of the pregnancy weight. I gained 55 pounds! I have lost 37, but really wanted to lose it all before the next baby. So that is a little discouraging. Obviously I am not going to let myself gain 55 pounds this time. I did well working out this week. Not going to stop working out this pregnancy like I did last time. That was a dumb move :(

Monday: hour long walk
Tuesday: hour long spinning class
Wednesday: hour long walk
Thursday: hour long spinning class
Friday: nothing
Saturday: hour long hike in the woods :)
Sunday: Circuit Max and 45 minute walk

Overall I am pretty pleased, but need to get some strength training going. Thanks for letting me join you all. I really need the accountability. :) Love, Heather

Hi Wendy!

Hi Kim!

Yes, you are right~it is Veteran's Day. I think it's great that your "man" is still working out with you! How fun! I, like you, am also working hard on the type of lifestyle I choose because of losing most members in my family to heart disease and now several with cancer. This hard work hopefully will pay off for us! Keep up the good work!

Also, I have heard the same thing about restricted diets causing problems with the gall bladder, but can't remember if it was high fat or low fat?? Hope 2 C U Soon!
