Hi all! Next week I'm going to try and take off of everything. We'll see how it goes.

Sun. MIS upper body and abs

Mon. 3 mile run

Tue. Power Circuit cardio and abs

Wed. 3 mile run

Thu. Rhythmic Step

Fri. rest

Sat. My first 10K race! I had so much fun. I felt as great at the end as I did at the beginning. I was real nervous, but I knew I had trained, and trained well. I finished pretty close to the end...173rd out of 191...but I ran strong and love it! The middle part was uphill against the wind and a few people started falling back or walking. Then the last 1 1/2 miles were downhill with a tailwind! All the water stations were cheering for us, and a big group was cheering at the end. They were still cheering for us at the back too! Loved it!!!

How did your race go Debra? She also ran a 10K yesterday.

RE: Checkin 10-13-02

Congratulations, Andrea! It's so much fun to race and feel strong. "Is that the finish line ... already?" ;-)

I started off the week in bed with strep. Not much to report except for a few short walks, and I finally made it to Pilates class yesterday. Think I'll pull out the ol' S&H chest and biceps and get cranking again today.

Wow - time's flying!

Hi everyone!

Congratulations Andrea! Did your guys get up predawn to cheer you on? Hope you're not hurting & just taking a preemptory week off. Read your post about stepping & knees.

Take care Gretchen. You seem to know how & when to back off.

Mon: swim; LL (w/ abs)
Tue: not my day - slept in guest room 'cause DH was snoring extra loud; decided to run in fields w/ dogs instead of driving to a track but had an encounter w/ 3 coyotes just as I finished my warm up walk, so no run; seemed to rush the entire day; finally declared it a rest day & went to evening Pilates mat class
Wed: swim
Thu: trot w/ hounds (no coyotes today); Precision Toning (Pilates)
Fri: Restorative yoga; PS CST
Sat: 10k; Balance ball (stretch & abs)
Sun: cycle 15 miles w/DH; PS BB&abs

LOL - I won a silver medal Saturday! Second in my age group, w/ a 51:45 min time in my 2nd 10k. Surprised myself & DH (his time was 45:02). I'm really happy w/ the progress I made over the summer as my pace dropped more than 1:30 per mile. Running at sea level vs 7000ft helped. Unlike Andrea, I was NOT in my comfort zone. This hurt.

Have a great week everyone! Go Angels!!!
Debra

Congrats to both Andrea and Debra on a job well done! I've always dreamed of finishing a 10k- you guys are my inspirations! :)
I had a pretty good week overall. Hubby is in Costa Rica til the end of the month so I am trying to get up at 4:30am to get my workouts in first thing. This way I don't have to worry about the children bothering me. I'm slowly making progress. ;-)

Monday: off
Tuesd: IMAX
WED: Step Works and walk dog 30mn
Thur: Walk:35 mn, Power Hour
Frid:Cardio Kicks, walk 35 mnn, bike 40mn
Sat: Power Hour
Sund: Max Intens. Cardio

Hope you all have a great week in whatever you do! Take care, Susan

Great job! That's a huge difference in just one summer (the 1:30 cut off).

Andrea

Geez I'm full of typos today. It's supposed to say Hey not He :-rollen

Hi Susan

How the heck did you do that as a single parent?

I can't wait for the time change because while I'm an early bird, I really like a little light in the sky (not the sun, just a little light), when I get up. Luckily I live in a family neighborhood w/ lots of parents who have to exercise early or forget about it. So there's company in the dark.

You had a great week! Here's to the next one!

HI Andrea!

Remember I'm a kept woman, without children & 2 very athletic dogs. (The household & paperwork stuff can really cut into training time if I let it.)

Your results & progress are terrific. A lot of my neighborhood friends are parents w/ young children & they're just thrilled if they can get out for a dog walk or slip in a trip to the gym. You & the other parents here, amaze me, week after week.

I wish I could have said I started & finished strong. DH & I were both wiped out.

So Andrea, what's your next target?

Debra

RE: Hi Susan

HI there! I am definetly a morning person! I do my Cathe tapes in the wee morning before I have to wake up the kids . After I drop off my daughter for Kindergarten I go home, grab the dog,put my son in the jogger stroller and walk away! He really enjoys it. We live out in the country so he loves pointing out all the cows and horses we go by. I have to say I have been going to bed very shortly after they do! By 9 pm I'm usually snoozin' :-tired! I am markin' off the days til my sweetie gets back though! Have a great week! Susan
