Check this out!

Wow, that's incredible! I love stories like that, though...weight loss by good old fashioned exercise and healthy diet. I'll keep her in mind when I'm feeling lazy and wonder why I haven't reached my goals yet!

That's exactly what I was thinking...I have no excuse for not losing the measly bit of weight I need to lose when I see the leaps and bounds she has achieved!!!!!

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to add that if you go to this gal's website, she has more photos you can check out (before/after). Truly amazing!

:)

PS. She makes me feel as if I truly have no excuses!

I'm always amazed by people who lose 'a whole person'! She's lost more weight than I weigh! (Though I also wonder how someone can get THAT big in the first place. 50 pounds I can see, but 180 pounds? Doesn't the 'I've got to do something about this' realization kick in sooner?).

She doesn't even look like the same person! The 'before' photo looks like her mother--definitely not a 30-year-old!

I think I can try to answer your question, Kathryn.

My stepson grew up in a blue collar town, living with his mother, who was always overweight and ate lots of junk and drank lots of sweet beverages. I was pretty sheltered from that kind of thing, and didn't even know such environments existed until I met him when he was 19 years old. He could hardly walk down the street without huffing and puffing. Then one day when he was in his mid-20s he went to his doctor. His doctor said "Are you saving for retirement?" My stepson, a very big saver said "Of course! I'm maximizing my 401(k) contributions!" His doctor looked him straight in the eye and said "Why?".

That was the end of the line for him. He gave up sweet beverages and bought a water cooler for his apartment. He started steaming all his veggies and eating lean protein, and took up bicycle riding. He lost 110 pounds in about a year and a half, and has kept it off for more than 5 years now.

Sometimes, it's just how you grow up and the environment you come from, and then you grow up and find new ways of living and enjoying life.

I agree Nancy!

I grew up in a soda drinking, fastfood eating, sweet indulging family(no wonder i use weigh 278pds) But now I know how to eat and iam trying to teach my kids the importance of veggies and fruits and the almighty water!

Thanks for sharing Reese777,I loved the story!

What an incredibly motivating story! Good for her! She looks incredible.

Nancy - wow, what a story about your stepson! Thanks for sharing.

Amelia - Another incredible weight loss story. I'm impressed!!! Way to go!

That is amazing and inspiring, thanks for sharing. I have been doing good with my eating until the Halloween candy came into the house.x(

You're all welcome...there were other stories of success on the site her's is listed on, but I think hers really stood out to me. It's very motivating, isn't it? And I don't know if you noticed or not, but she's only 5 feet tall and that probably made her weight that much more obvious. One thing that really stood out to me is how much older she looked at 300 lbs..(another poster noticed this too, saying her before pics looked like her "mother") amazing.

I was doing okay too until the candy came round...and I have no excuses..my kid doesn't trick or treat - she's 17. I am indulging in everyone elses - they bring it into work to get rid of it. UUG:p

Just one question. Where is all the excess skin.
No way can you loose 180# and not have it..
The weight loss is amazing, and i believe can be done on one's own,but there was more help there..
I have a client that went from 420 to 150 and you otta see the skin on her arms and legs...and belly..It is like a hanging chicken neck and she is 28. Not an older person without elasticity..

Just a thought..

I don't know...I would think that it's possible that genetics plays a role in it - just like when some women get stretch marks and others do not - regardless of how they moisturize. Some people may have more elasticity in their skin? I figure too, if she lost her weight gradually, that probably played a role too.

Regardless, she looks wonderful. You can see the pics on her site where she's got weights up to do shoulder presses - I see no sign of surgery incisions to remove loose skin from under her upper arms, so...I don't know what to say!

:)
