Check-In W/E 12/16

Cathlete
Hey guys...Figured I'd start this week's checkin.

My week started off a bit slow as I was fighting off the dreaded virus that everybody at work seems to have....coughing, sneezing kind of virus. Luckily enough, I overloaded on Echinacea and Elderberry extract and started feeling better by the end of the week.

I stuck with mostly strength workouts in order to fight off the virus at the beginning of the week, but I ended up with cardio by the end of the week as I was starting to feel better.

Monday: MIS Upper Body/Abs

Tuesday: Sore throat...took a rest day.

Wednesday: MIS Legs/Abs (still taking it easy due to sore throat)

Thursday: PS CST

Friday: PS BBA/Crunch Joy of Yoga

Saturday: CTX Step & Intervals

Sunday: Circuit Max

That's it for me!

Terri

LAST EDITED ON Dec-16-01 AT 02:47PM (Est)[p] Terri--that's the kind of week I have when I'm feeling just fine! ;-)

Here's mine (still loving my new Christi Taylor stuff!)

MONDAY: Hi-Lo Heaven I & II

TUESDAY: Power Hour upper and abs

WEDNESDAY: rest

THURSDAY: CIA 9801 hi-lo + Stepworks stretch

FRIDAY: unplanned rest

SATURDAY: Bmax wu, cardio section, and 1st circuit; changed my mind and switched to
Power hour legs, back, chest and core
PH and Bmax stretches

SUNDAY: Step Heaven wu and section I + HiLo Heaven I
Power Hour shoulders, bis and tris
S&H forearms and external rotations
MIS stretch

Although I haven't been getting my extra stretches in, I've been trying to get 4 cardio instead of 3...

Have a terrific week, everyone!

Wendy

Terri--that is a darn good week!

Wendy--I have a couple of Christi Taylor's tapes and have never done. I think you've inspired me to bring them out, finally.

Well, regarding my week--I took a cue from Aimee and stayed off the weights this week. I was feeling really tired and sore, and needed a break. What I didn't intend is that it would be a break from everything! :-rollen

SUNDAY--5.5 mile hike
MONDAY--no hice nada
TUESDAY--short hikes with kiddos
WEDNESDAY--slightly longer short hikes with very whiny kiddos
THURSDAY--pilates with physical therapist, 20 min. walk
FRIDAY--no hice nada
SATURDAY--Yogilates tape 1

Fortunately, I made a date to meet a friend at the gym this morning. Originally, we did it to make sure that SHE worked out, but I need to get going again after my "break." :-cool

Wendy: Would LOVE your opinion re Christi Taylor's workouts....

Back when I was first getting into step, I got her CIA 9801 and I couldn't follow the step portion for the life of me! How is Hi-Lo Heaven though? Since that's just hi/lo I assume it would be easier? How does it compare to Cathe's workouts?

Thanks for any info.

Terri

Hi Terri--
I am in love with these workouts! I must say though, that until today I hadn't tried any of her step stuff. Today I did Step Heaven, and I decided to quit after the first section because I hadn't previewed beyond that, and I could tell I wasn't going to be able to get a real workout on the second section, because I was getting a little confused on the moves.

Let me mention that my favorite step tapes of Cathe's are Stepworks and Rhyhmic Step. I was able to get the choreography in both of these on the first try--not boasting, just giving you an idea of how I pick up on choreography.

Christi's tapes seem to me to be a little less intense than Cathe's, maybe because there is less impact, and I think the bpm are a bit slower... I modify out a lot of the impact on Cathe's stuff, anyway, so I feel like I'm getting a comparable workout, cardio wise. Actually, I modify some of the impact out on Christi's tapes, too, but it doesn't seem as noticeable, because the workouts aren't based on high impact, as Cathe's seem to be (IMO).

The choreography is more dancy than Cathe, and Christi teaches differently, in that she says "watch me", does the new move, and then has you join her. This works for me.

Do you still have 9801? If so, the hi-lo choreography on that tape is (IMHO) more complex than either hi-lo Heaven or Happy Hour Ho-LO, but still I got it on the first try. (Previewing once really seems to do the trick for me.)

I just read someone's opinion of Christi as "a party in a box", and that is exactly the way I feel. She is having so much fun, she makes me like music I wouldn't normally like! She is just dancing away, and I just have such a blast!! She is FUN...:)

If you're interested, I would reccomend getting Still Jumpin' as a place to start. That was my first, and I would definitely say it is not as intense or complex as the other tapes I have, but it is REALLY fun!!!

I got all these tapes (not Still Jumpin) from serioushomefitness.com, each one was 12.95 (!), and the service was excellent.

Hope this helps!

Hi Guys!! Well, my break ends tomorrow. I couldn't stay too inactive though. Had too much energy to burn, so I did ALOT of cardio and yoga!! I'm really itching to hit the weights again. Starting a whole new rotation, I'm going to do a 3 on/2 off. Hopefully to help build some muscle. Ok here's my week:

MON: BMAX cardio only, taught my classes

TUES: 1.5hr of yoga

WED: MIC step only, then CMAX (couldn't resist!)

THURS: 1.5hr of yoga

FRI: CTX kickbox

SAT: CTX 10-10-10

SUN: CTX SNI and 30min yoga

I feel good. My calf muscles are still a little tight, but other than that I'm ready to go!! Have a great week everyone!!

Aimee

Hi Everyone!

Lots of distractions this week along with the expected holiday activities. Guess that's life.

Mon: Trot 36 min w/ dogs; Tamilee stretch
Tue: Power Hour: Cycle 17 flat miles
Wed: Cycle 26 rolling miles; Stott matwork (I think)
Thu: Trot 29 min; Voight Core Essentials (lunge movement is tough on carpet)
Fri: Power Hour; Deeson's Yoga for weight loss (misnamed)
Sat: Deeson's Balance Ball workouts
Sun: Cycle 46 miles w/ DH

Asked my husband why we couldn't meander off to a cafe, see a movie, or spend some time at a bookstore like other couples. He assured me the "other couples" are juggling soccor games, kid parties, & dealing with the flu virus. He also said I seem to be getting plenty of relaxation on my fitness ball. I'm obviously in need of some R&R so we're making a break for it while the schools are still in session.

Have a fun & safe week everyone!
Debra

This week was so busy. I only got one strength in :-(

Sun. rest
Mon. IMax
Tue. Power Hour
Wed. Taught a hi/lo, yes it is very cool that I casually post it...although I don't know how casual it actually is!
Thu. Step Fit WU, PowerMax 2 & 3, Step Works 3, Step Fit CD/stretch
Fri. nothing
Sat. nothing, wanted to do BodyMax legs and upper, but baby didn't nap and I had lots to do for 5 yr olds bday party. After the party I (with hubby's help) watched three 2 yr. olds and a one yr. old. I was beat. I don't know how their foster mom does it!

Here's to another busy week!

Andrea

Wendy ?

How did it take to do Power Hour upper and abs only? I have it planned in this week and am hoping it is about 30 min.

Andrea

RE: Wendy ?

Hi Andrea :)
You know, I have no idea how long it was! Probably a little more than 30, but probably less than 45 minutes. I should have written it down, and for the life of me I can't remember...
Sorry!
Wendy

Hi, Debra!

LAST EDITED ON Dec-17-01 AT 10:31AM (Est)[p]I love your "other couples" comment. :7 It is nice to have a fitness-minded husband to do things with. Mine will bike (in warm weather), hike, and sometimes snowshoe with me. I'm trying to get him the join the gym, but he can't imagine that he would ever like exercise for the sake of exercise. :-rollen He likes to watch the Cathe and FIRM tapes (especially the old thong and lace ones), but won't do even Slow & Heavy. Sigh.

Hi Gretchen

Giggled when I read about your husband's interest in the early Firm's. While DH enjoyed viewing Janet Jones (my 1st Firm), Susan Harris' voice drove him nuts. He'd ask if I was doing "exercise porn" again whenever he heard Vol I, so I learned not to use this tape if he was in the house. He does like Cathe (a Maryann kind of guy, not Ginger).

You're right, it's great having a fitness partner. I'm just due for some leisure.

Hello everyone. I am extremely late with my checkin but you're not missing anything. It has been an extremely busy week with various activities and I am personally wanting some down time.

I only worked out three days and it was a 3-mile walk each day. Pretty solid workouts but still rather pathetic for me. I feel like a slug.

I hope everyone has a great week and I hope to have a better one too! :)

Joining...

...Kelly with a VERY late check-in! Seems like I just can't find the time to get here the past couple weeks to post my workouts. You guys have been working hard! Here's last weeks workout even though I'm almost 1/2 way thru this weeks :-wow! Whew, the weeks are flying by.

MONDAY~PS-BACK, BICEPS & ABS, LowerBack/SpinalErector(sp.?) work, Taught a Hi/Lo class

TUESDAY~Taught a Hi/Lo class, PS-CHEST, SHOULDERS & TRICEPS

WEDNESDAY~PS-LEGS & ABS, Spin with Jay

THURSDAY~Taught 2 Hi/Lo classes

FRIDAY~IMax!!! :-tired

SATURDAY~MIS, had also planned some jump roping but came down with a bad sinus infection and just did not have the energy

SUNDAY~REST! Julie, Scott & Kennedy came over all day. In-between playing wih Kennedy, Julie & I worked on some homemade Christmas cards & gifts. FUN day! :7

The week before, that I did not post, was basically the same but instead of spinning and IMax, I jump roped. Actually, I used a tape and pretended I was USING a rope. I didn't want to be laying on the floor. It is Kathy Smith's Aerobox with Michael Olajide Jr. I'm not real crazy about most of the tape but I love the jump rope sections! Whew, they are intense! My calves were sore for days. Hope everyone is almost ready for the big day. I have all our gifts wrapped so far, all the out-of-towners have been sent & got lots of baking done. FEELING pretty GOOD!

[marquee]http://www.plaudersmilies.de/xmas/wmann.gif Wishing you all a wonderful, healthy and PEACEFUL holiday season! http://www.plaudersmilies.de/xmas/wmann.gif [/marquee]

RE: Still Jumpin'

Hi Gretchen :)
Ummmm...I do it on carpet, to answer your second question. As for your first...I'm trying to remember. I haven't done it in a while...I don't have a very big space--maybe 8'X10' (purely a guess). Christi does tend to do a walk forward--either 4 or 8 steps--in most videos, and I usually do those on a diagonal so I don't walk into my tv armoire ;-). If you can do any of Cathe's double grapevines in your space, you'll be fine with Still Jumpin'
Get it! It really is a fun tape.
