changing the DVD order?

After completing the whole STS series as a 6 month rotation I just started Meso 1 again as a 3 month rotation program. After doing Disc 1 (shoulders, chest and biceps) I feel DOMS in my tricep for some reason and was not able to do Disc 2 cause I didn't want to work out on sore muscles. Especially since Disc 2 is all about Triceps and Back. I've decided to do Disc 3 (legs) instead and wait a couple more days to do Disc 2. Is there any disadvantage doing the leg workout in between the two upper body workouts? Or do I absolutely have to follow the program suggested by Cathe. I am surprised she suggests two upper body workouts in a row. I understand to take a two day break in between upper body workouts but even then there is the possibility to still have some soreness going on. Any input anyone?

Thanks so much,
Ela

There is no disadvantage in doing it in that fashion. Giving your triceps time to heal is a smart thing to do.

Definitely change the order of the workouts.

I personally would not follow the suggested order because I always put more time between upper-body workouts (primarily for shoulder recovery).

If you look in the STS manual, somewhere in there Cathe even suggests doing the upper-lower-upper sequence if you prefer. IMO, it's more effective and provides for better recovery and thus growth (and when I asked Cathe about the reason behind putting the Meso 1 workouts in that order, she basically said it was for variation, which I didn't find to be a compelling enough reason to change my mind about it ;)).

AfAfter doing Disc 1 (shoulders, chest and biceps) I feel DOMS in my tricep for some reason...
FYI: that tricep DOMS is because the triceps are also involved in compound chest and shoulder exercises, like chest presses, push-ups and overhead presses. That's why it's common to see splits that combine chest/shoulders/triceps.

Hi Ela,

I am almost done with my second round of STS, and both times I did legs as the second workout of the week. It worked well for me by giving a llittle extra break between upper body workouts, and I still saw good results.
