Champion juicers and icecream lovers.

I just had to share this with you all. We bought a "champion juicer" at a garage sale this weekend (I've also seen them in the classifieds before) and I can't recommend this machine highly enough, especially for you icecream lovers.

They have a blank plate included that does something they call homogonizing (which is not the same thing as the process they use for milk). Basically what you do is freeze strawberries, bananas, or almost anything for that matter...soy milk, coconut milk, pineapple, and you feed it frozen through the little feeder tube and out the end comes strawberry icecream, nothing added. I swear....it tastes like there is milk or cream and sweetener added. We fed through strawberries and bananas alternately and the consistency is "exactly" like softserve strawberry icecream. I don't know how it achieves this consistancy, but it does and it is worth every penny...we will never buy icecream again...it is that good!!!! Our children loved it. Pick up plain icecream cones from walmart and dispense it right into the cones and it even swirls like an icecream machine, though a little fatter. If I knew it did this I would have paid full price for one (I believe they run around $269.00 new, but look for one used). Just a thought for you icecream lovers (and it juices everything too)!!

Tell me honestly...

...how are is it to clean? I really want to buy a juicer, but my husband insists that I will never use it because of how much of a pain they are to clean. Not to mention that we have very little counter space.

Sounds wonderful and I would love to get one.

RE: Tell me honestly...

I will be honest, it does take up counter space, but it really isn't too hard to clean. I also have an Omega Juicer which I swore by until this Champion came along. The champion is a little easier to clean, the parts rinse right off and you could stick them right into a mesh type bag and hang them inside a cupboard or somewhere where they could drip dry.

For our family, we do a lot of carrot juicing and since the icecream discovery.....we use it like 2 times per day at least. So for us it's worth it. I would definitely try to check around for a used one so you can try it without the major investment. We bought ours (and it looked brand new) at a garage sale for $50, the lady said she was sick of it sitting on her counter and she hardly ever used it. Can't imagine that, but want you to be forewarned...it might not be for everyone. BUT...if you like icecream.....then it's kind of like.......toilet paper :p :p :p :p

RE: Tell me honestly...

I just got the DH a commercial champion juicer for his birthday and we love it! I found it new online for $219 plus shipping. It is not hard to clean, I think it's much easier than a food processor, in fact you just rinse the parts with cold water and mild detergent. It does take up some space: about 24" by 8" when it's assembled, and 12 by 8 when not.

My current favorite juice is carrot/celery/apple. DH makes beet/spinach/cucmber concoctions. We got a commercial model because we have apple trees and plan to juice and freeze when they start coming in.

You can also make nut butters, sorbets, and lots of other stuff. You can get a grinder attachment and do grains. (Briee--if you want me to copy and mail you the handbook I can if your garage sale juicer didn't come with it.)They are well made and a great investment in health. We put the pulp in our dog food or compost, so it really doesn't get wasted.

I'd say go for it and if you don't like it I'd bet you could sell it slightly used and get most of your money back.

RE: Tell me honestly...

Ann, we have friends who bought the commercial model and they love theirs too, they are the ones who told me to make icecream!! Thanks for the book offer, but thanks to the good ole internet....we had one printed so we do have the whole manual complete with recipes, etc.

Thanks so much for your review!!
