Chai tea?

Does anyone drink this? Someone bought me a gift set for x-mas of Big Train Chai Tea products. I just had the spice & it was pretty good. I am usually a coffee drinker, but this was a nice change. I would like to start drinking this after dinner because it's caffeine free and has the consistancy of coffee. The only problem is that it had 140 calories per serving. Does anyone know of a brand that offers this in a lower fat/calorie version?

TIA

What the heck is in that tea that allows for 140 calories??

I just bought a box by Stash at the grocery store. It is Chai Spice Black Tea and it is really good. The ingredients are 100% natural and include all spices. I am loving it.

Do you have the liquid chai or the powdered chai? You can get the powdered chai and add hot water instead of milk, though it doesn't taste the same. I think the powder has a lot calories in it, too, though. I don't really look: if I don't see them, they don't exist! :+

Mine are individual sealed tea bags and I use water. I have never had it any other way. Now that I know there is a version that has a lot of calories (for tea) and maybe some fat...I will avoid it altogether! Lord knows, if I try it, I will fall in love with it!!:+ Much like the happy poor guy who has no clue he's poor because he never walked down a nicer neighborhood. I'm shootin' to stay happy and poor.;-)

Regular Chai tea is just tea with spices. For it to have 140 calories, it must have other things in it. Like Sarah said, mine just comes in teabags. You add hot water, or it's really good if you make it with hot milk.

Yes, it's the powdered kind. The kind where you just add water. No wonder it's so good! I am sure it's loaded w/ sugar. I will check out the grocery store. I didn't know you could buy it there. I thought it was some kind of specialty item that could only be found in health food/specialty stores. I will have to do that & mix it myself.

Thanks again!

Slightly related...am I the only one noticing that the grocery stores seem to be doing better at carrying "specialty items" than the actual health food stores?? I am finding very few reasons to make trips to the health food stores because the groceries are picking up the stuff as well as some department stores (like Wal-Mart or Meijer).

I love Chai tea and almost any kind of black or green tea. I use to drink it the high calorie way but now I just make it myself with a tea bag (I like to buy the loose tea). I like a little milk with my tea (about a T.) Now, if I drink the other stuff, it is way too sweet for me and I don't care for it anymore. To me, it's not really tea.
