Celebrity Fit Club

I bet that this has been discussed in the past, but I was watching this for a minute last night and I was a little disturbed. I've only watched this a few minutes at a time on a few occassions, but every time, it seems that the people on the show are given target weight loss for the week (it's a week, right?) for up to 5, 6 or 7 pounds. Even if it is two weeks, that's still a lot to set as a goal at the end of weight loss week after week. The few that I have seen target out loss at that high amount for a several weeks at a time. Not to mention that they take seemingly unfit people and make them evercise at a fit person's level.

What is the premise of this show? Are they losing a certain percentage of body weight or do they just pick a weight that they desire or something else?

I've seen bits and pieces as well, and it is somewhat entertaining, but in now way can it be practical or realistic. The people telling them what to do are supposed to be "professional" or "expert" nutritionists, doctors, personal trainers, whatevers, but I can't see how that is. I remember one time I was watching and the loss goal was like 10 lbs!!! No way in heck!!! Now I know its supposed to be easier for larger people to loose larger amts of weight in the beginning, simply because it takes more calories for them just to maintain that weight than the average person. But then you see them trying to make someone who weighs 300lbs and smokes run 5 miles. I'm surprised no one's gotten seriously hurt or sick yet. (at least not that I've heard about) I think the premise of the show is that they split into 2 teams and whoever looses the most in the shows time frame, wins. I don't know what the overall time frame is, though. And I suppose to jumpstart them back into a healthy and fit lifestyle. But seems to me they go about it wrong. Slow and steady wins the race. You won't get anywhere lying in a hospital bed!

I'm not sure what the time is between weigh-ins, but I'm pretty sure it's more than a week (maybe two weeks? But with some of the weight-loss goals, it seems like it must be longer). They really should state how long it is between weigh-ins (maybe they do at some point?) because it give viewers an unrealistic expectation.

I believe it's a 12 week program and that it's at least two weeks between weigh ins. I agree they should state the amount of time in between because it's misleading and may have people out there thinking those are realistic goals for the everyday person. Also, I agree that they are not giving realistic workouts for the levels these people are at. As for Dustin Diamond ( "Screech" from Saved By The Bell), he proves that the show is ridiculous and alot of fluff. He is a media hound. I know someone who had an "encounter" with him this past year ( No elaboration!) and he actually admitted that the whole scheme about selling T-shirts to save his house was a scam for publicity! This just makes me believe that him being on fit club and all his nonsense about proving that you can lose weight while eating whatever you want is more for the publicity! He is so annoying to watch and for that reason I didn't even tune in this week and won't as long as he is on the show. Too bad for the celebs who are really trying to get healthy to have to deal with him! Trust me, he is a real slimebag!

I hope that people watch it only for the entertainment value because unfortunately it is not a good example for those looking for real help in their fitness goals.

Okay, now I'll breathe... ;)

Yeah, it's 2 week periods that they are supposd to be losing 4-5 pounds in. That's what the panel says is their target goal usually. Sometimes it's only 2 pounds.
Yeah Dustin is way annoying. It looks to me that he might just get kicked off the show next week. Harvey gets really mad at him, not like a typical Harvey mad, I mean MAD! And Kimberly is ready to quit because of Dustin. So, I think he might get kicked off.
You need to realize that Dustin is also brining in wathcers to the show that might not normally watch it, so it works both ways. He gets publicity and the show gets ratings. They always have the one bad seed on the show.
