Rose11, do you know if any of the Puertorrican cathe-ites reside in Puerto Rico. I have been moving for the last five years, since my husband is in the Army. Right now I'm in Georgia, but I will be in Puerto Rico for two years, or perhaps more, starting in October. I will be in Bayamón (where I'm from).

I've never heard of "Mercedes" being Italian. (I've known several Hispanic "Mercedes") If so, it would be pronounced "Mer che des" (In Italian, a "c" before "i" or "e" is pronounced as "ch", as in "ciao, bambina!", while a "ch" before "i" or "e" is pronouced "k"). Could there be some cross-nationality name-borrowing there? (I'm a French and ---former!--Spanish teacher, so these kinds of things intrigue me!).
 
I'm Puerto Rican too! :D I live in Illinois though. Only been to PR once, although I can't wait to go back and visit. I have many many family members who live there.
 
Another Puerto Rican here! My parents are from Aguada. My daughter just started working out with Cathe and loves it! Can't wait to tell her we have an hermana in the crew.:)

Btw, my good friend is Mexican and her name is Mercedes. Very common Spanish name.

Mariela, I start a new job in September and I'll be moving to Aguadilla, but I have to see my family and my SO so I'll be in the Metro Area every weekend. When you get here let me know and we can meet :).

I have not been to PR since 1994. You know how it is, married, with children, working full time: who has time!:eek:

I have lots of family over there and would like to go again sometime. Maybe we can keep in touch and meet when that happens. Hey, but don't hold your breath on that one just yet. It could be a few years.

Now, we need Lorraine to pop in and say hi!:D

LOL! No I went to school in Rio Piedras (even college: UPR.) I know where Venus Gardens is, but I live in the other half of T.A. (if there is such a thing as the other half of T.A. because it is a very small county:p ) Wow indeed!

Oh and by the way I agree it can be a couple of years until we meet. We're all so busy. Maybe in a couple of years I can go to a roadtrip.
