Cathletic Supporters Feb. 1, 2009

Saturdays, I have decided, are my weigh in and measuring of body fat, it was encouraging, I made good progress! It sure motivates to stay the course when you see steady results!

Workoutaholic: congrats on fitting into the old pants! I love it when that happens!

I did 1Rm testing this week. I have to say, I do not like working to failure. At all. I am done, not done with the list, but enough is enough, I'm just gonna jump in with what I have, I can't picture myself doing another week of 1RMs.

Besides, I finally got my STS, my BFFM eating is all set up and on track, I'm ready to start this Monday! I'm really excited!

What do you all do, if anything, when you reach milestones on your road to meeting your goals fitness/weight wise?

I decided I'm going to reward myself for every % of body fat I loose. My areas of interest would want rewards in cute clothes or books. What about you. How do you reward yourselves?

I'm sick and my son had pneumonia so I'm taking a few days off. I'm a bit bummed out because I got a lot of my 1r's done but I found 3 days of cardio and two days of lifting to failure to be too much for my body. I also read through some of the stuff on the burn the fat feed the muscle, very informative. Sounds like the program I need.

I'm so sorry to hear about you being sick, it sure is going around. My family has all gone through it too. My husband is the last one to get it and is still getting over it.

I know what you mean about working to failure and cardio in addition to that. I'm definitely not used to working out like that either!

I'm glad you like the book! I could hardly put it down (or get away from my computer, I should say...;)

I hope you recover quickly!

Murphy, hope your eating well and exercising is still going strong!

RB - isn't that so hard (learning to give up that very momentary high that food brings for the greater good)? Are your wogs making your butt sore?

Colleen - sorry to hear about the illnesses. My kiddo has had cold symptoms for 3 weeks! I am sooo sick of it. : )

Cendrine - thanks! And congrats on your success, too! For celebrating my successes, right now I go through all my pre-pregnancy clothes and try stuff on every now and then. And when something fits, it is just awesome. That's all I'm doing so far. Oh and I do eat about 400-500 more calories on my high days.

Rhea - sorry you have been sick, too!

Ok, let's see...on the 6th I did Push 2 and kickbox from 4DS. I love that kickboxing routine. Tonight was Push 3. I think I'm getting a squat rack. I need to go much heavier for legs and I can't do it with what I have. I'll need it for STS when I get there, too. Here's my food:

M1: Shake w/.75 scoop vanilla whey, 1 C frozen blueberries, 1 T nat. PB, 1 cup almond breeze
M2: 1 can Amy's lentil veggie soup
M3: 1 cup 2% cottage cheese
M4: Smoothie King almond mocha - I asked for this without the turbinado, but it tasted way too good so she must have put it in there : (
M5: Ezekial cereal w/ milk & honey (shame on me - ha ha - but that stuff is awful by itself & I have no more fruit in the house)
Extras: 1 T creamer in coffee, 2 tsp. honey in tea (what's up with me and the honey today? : )

I need to get back to eating more veggies! I am going to the grocery tomorrow so will stock up. I am almost out of food. Have a good night ladies!

Hi All,

I have been eating well and exercising. I am started STS last week and am loving it. Time flies - I hope that continues. I have not decided what to do for the cardio. I had this really thick area rug I used but it we are putting the house on the market and it had to go. Now, I just have the regular thin carpet on the floor and it is not good for my already bad knees. I need to find something the kids won't tear up! Wish me luck!!

Workoutaholic - yep, still eating well. I bought some more vegies and some fruits this weekend. I have a mental eating plan but I need to get it on paper if I have any hopes of it working. Thanks for the thoughts.

Colleen - sorry to hear about being sick. There is something going around and it is staying longer than it used to. It is crazy.

Back on the band wagon for me today! Ate good and started the Push Phase of the Chalean over again. Feel okay, cold symptoms are still hanging around, but I guess they will stick with me for a while. I think I'll ignore them.

Morning,

I ate a bit much for dinner last night but it was mostly vegetable (no butter, little salt) so I think I am okay. Still keeping up with the fruit and vegetables so I am happy. I expect today to be a good day eating wise. I did disc 3 of STS (legs) and am hoping for DOMS. I really need help with the lower half - from the neck down. :-D

I'm two days into STS myself. I have done the 1st disk and today I did body max 2 cardio plus sts pilates abs. I feel really good.

But I don't think the workout card numbers I get are accurate, some are too easy and some are too hard. But the good thing is, having the workout card I can take notes and write down the weight I acutally did lift and even, what I think I could try next time.

I completed my second maintenance day and upped it like you mentioned, workoutaholic. It adds up to 500 more calories for me too and I have to say, it couldn't have come at a better time. I am starting to sense those PMS cravings.... I so hate them! I do so well three weeks and then it becomes a real struggle for a good week. But it helps to know what's going on. Knowing, makes me less likely to just give in helplessly....:)

This is going to be a challenging week eating wise. My husband's birthday is coming up, then we have company and valentine's day all in one week. My husband loves carrot cake and I am going to make him one. I was debating making it with whole wheat flour and stevia to make it 'clean' . I'm not sure yet, I have never baked with stevia before and would hate for it to be a flop...
Any thoughts on that?

I ordered some of those wrist weights to help me add more lbs lifting without jumping 5 lbs in one try. I hope they get here this week. I also gave in and ordered the slanted risers. I figured, it will be safer and my kids use all my workout equipment for obstacle courses, so they will get good use there too....:)

I'm leaving to get more fruits and veggies right now too. And some more greek yogurt, I can't do without it anymore, I love it!

Cendrine, have you tried whole wheat white flour? I found some in my Publix yesterday - it's made by King Arthur. It's just white wheat instead of red. It doesn't taste quite as mild as all-purpose flour, but it's much less bitter than red wheat and it's still whole grain and nutritious!

Sorry I can't help with the stevia issue, but this seems like a good site:

Hi Workoutaholic

the white whole wheat flour you mentioned is exactly the one I'm going to try for this round! I haven't tried it before, but I hope it will be almost unnoticeable! I figured in a carrot cake it would be easier to hide than in say a vanilla sponge cake or something like that....

Thanks so much for the link, it looks great. I printed the page, but I'm still not sure if I dare to experiment this time. I might wait with it until another project...:)

checking is. no workouts for 4 days. sick. yuk. today started back 1r testing. now i only have 4 back, 1 chest, 11 shoulders, 30 legs, 11 biceps, 4 triceps, left to test. then i'm out of town with ds for 4 days. i'll start sts the 16th or 17th of feb and super clean eating.

Hi Colleen,

I'm sorry you are still sick! I hope you get better soon!

I'm just posting to let you know there's a new thread of Cathletic Supporters every week. Workoutaholic started the new one for this week. You'll find it in the Check-in forums.

This thread is going to become unused now. Look for a new one every week.:)

Good evening everyone!

Back on the bandwagon for me. Been pretty good with the eating, just not quite at the counting the calories part. Might have to keep guessing for a while because of hectic work schedule.

King Arthur flour, great place to shop. I have an order coming from them next week.

Really good with my fuel intake today!

a.m. - low carb tortilla, avocado, mozz. cheese (too lazy to really make anything else this a.m. lol) oh, and coffee of course.
after massage: skinny carmel macchiato while shopping (sugar free and non-fat milk)
pre-workout: banana, grapes, kiwi, mandarin orange, about 1/4 all bran, mixed with activia low fat yogurt.
p.m. snack: about 5 baby carrots, low fat laughing cow cheese, grapes
oh, some leftover coffee from this a.m. Was craving it for some reason.
Dinner: don't know yet. For protein, maybe a turkey patty; broccoli and mushrooms, with fruit as a treat for dessert.

Hope everyone is doing great!
