Cathe's cueing...

Hi... I've just purchased many of Cathe's DVD's and I love them, great workout everytime. However I notice I stumble over some of the choreography. I don't feel my workouts are as good because I have such a learning curve trying to get the steps and the directional changes.

I've been used to Gin Miller, Tamilee, and other instructors who build into a routine rather than just throw it in there... I quit doing the Firm for this same reason.. steps were too dancy and I got no good workout value.

However, saying this.. Cathe's workouts are great but some of the steps I'm having trouble with...anyone else... does it get easier to master the steps

Yes, it will get easier with time and practice.

I jumped into Cathe with the Body Blast Series, and felt like you do about not getting in a good workout due to the learning curve. Matter of fact, I kinda felt discouraged about even purchasing all those DVDs because I thought I would never be able to get it down. What I began doing was getting in a workout that I knew I could do well, then tackling a section of a new Cathe workout. That takes the pressure off of feeling like you gotta work hard during the learning process, and I felt free to stop, watch, and rewind as necessary. I did this until I could do the whole workout pretty much mistake-free.

Keep at it...once you get it down, you'll feel so accomplished and will have a fun, effective workout at the same time!:)

I've been doing Cathe for a couple of months now and I was right where you are when I started (and some of her videos still trip me up). I can say I've gotten MUCH better each time I attempt one of her step videos. You will get to a point after practice where you will be able to get the steps pretty easily. She's pretty consistent in her cueing so it makes it easier to grasp what she's doing. Just keep at it...you'll be amazed at yourself in no time!!

I know what you mean, too. But I found that after I mastered a couple of the workouts, others fell into line pretty quickly. And just last night I was thinking about how I really enjoy the workouts where things aren't broken down so much or even worse, slowed way down in order to teach it, once I had mastered it.

In her earlier workouts she did a lot of TIFT'ing (taking it from the top) which I found great when I was trying to learn the steps, but a bit annoying once I mastered them. In her newer workouts she jumps into the routine and her cueing seems a bit off. She cues during the move rather than ahead of it. When you're used to doing someone like Christ, this can throw you off. It's frustrating when you're trying the learn the routine, but once you've memorized it the workout is more enjoyable because there's little repetition.

I started with Cathe several years ago. Here older tapes are broken down much more. They were great for getting used to her style. Now they seem like too much teaching. What I love about her newer workouts is going from one thing to the next without repeating things over and over.

You'll get it!
