You posted that Biotin was a good supplement for hair and nails.....I started taking an HSN vitamin a month ago but a serving is 2 tabs and they only have 2500mcg of Biotin. How much should one take in order to see improvement in their hair? Also, do you know what kind of improvement can be seen?

Thanks

Kim

Sorry to butt in here Kim,I appologize;-)

Catherine,so if it promotes regowth in people with certain types of hair loss....What types of hair loss would I have it its giving me regrowth around the front hair-line?

and yeah, what kim said about it being enough?;-)

No problem!!! I read that after a TE, youwill see regrowth around the hairline like you mentioned. Have you had a baby, illness, surgery, major stressor lately? I'm hoping this is what mine is from. I was really sick in June. Although, I was listening to a radio program yesterday that said stress is the worst "disease." It affects all parts of the body. You never know I guess. I'm 35 and wouldn't THINK my loss would be hereditary.....not yet anyway. Plus it started suddenly.

2500 mcgs per day should be sufficient. It's hard to say without seeing someone what type of hair loss they are experiencing. The most common type seen is Telogen Effluvium. That occurs due to stress- physical or emotional, hormones such as during pregnancy, nutritional deficiencies, thryoid disorders etc. There is a patchy type of hair loss called alopecia areata that is autoimmune and you literally have patches of hair gone. Biotin does not help this. Androgenic alopecia which would be the female equivalent to male pattern balding also would probably not respond well to Biotin.
