Cathe Step Video Recommendation?

Hi,
I'm looking for suggestions on which Cathe step tape to try next. I have The Wedding tape and Step Heat. I'm thinking about Step Fit, but I'm wondering if this will be too advanced (intensity and choreography) to try next and if I would be better off going with one of her older ones. Thanks in advance for your advice!

Step Max

Hi Danielle,
I also started Cathe with her Wedding tape and Step Heat, based on recommendations here. I now have all Cathe's tapes (and am eagerly waiting for more -- next year!) but I would say Step Max would be a good next tape. The choreography is so much fun!!

Good Luck Deciding!

my opinion

Is that you could probably go right into Step Fit without a whole lot of trouble. . . It might take a few times through to get mastery, because it IS a little more complex than the two you have. Intensity-wise I don't think its much harder. I also LOVE Step Jam but I know for a lot of people its a "least favorite" Cathe because the first section is pretty simple choreography-wise. Step Max is another good suggestion, but it feels a lot more athletic and less choreographed to me. So it depends on whether you want an athletic feel (Step Max), a simpler feel (Step Jam) or more complexity (Step Fit). From where you are I'd say all three are do-able. -susan p

I would go with Step Jam next. It's at the top of my list -- I like it better than "Step Works" -- I don't really like the music in "Step Works" and the second part of it is rather redundant. It is a great workout, though.

"Step Fit" and "Power Max" are great too! "Step Fit" is less intense than "Power Max" to me.

same question with a different twist.

Hi you all,
Susan P. sent me her Step heat tape and I just did it. Boy I thought I was pretty good at picking up new Choreography. But this one proved otherwise. I had to rewind it allot. It really got the sweat flowing though and it looks like it will be allot of fun once I learn it. I love complicated choreography. I don't mind not knowing the steps for awhile. My biggest problem is getting bored with a workout so the more complicated the routine is, the longer it keeps my interest. And it didn't seem to bother my knee!!! SO MY QUESTION IS: WHICH TAPE IS THE MOST DANCY AND WHICH IS THE MOST INTENSE? Cardio Wise.I WANT TO BURN FAT, GET MY HEART AND LUNGS IN BETTER SHAPE AND NOT GET BORED VERY FAST. I might buy myself an early Christmas gift.
Susan, thanks again for letting me use yours. Lora

P.S. Cathe you look great. And creative.
Soon you'll have that pre PG body again that we all would like. In truth you probably still look great. Just a word of encouragement.

A more choreographed recommendation...

Hi, Lora,

The only Cathe tape that REALLY stumped me for a while, hence frustrating me like crazy, was Step Works. I got it about 6 months ago, and it's now one of my favorites...but I had a lot of trouble catching onto the choreography at first. You might want to give this one a try if you're interested in a challenge.

The tape, like a lot of her others, is divided into 3 sections of stepping, not including the warm-up(which includes a short step routine), and cooldown/stretch. Section 1 combines many more familiar moves from past videos, Section 2 is longer and has some complicated moves, and Section 3 is shorter but pretty intense.

I think it's a great tape...just my opinion!
Good luck choosing,
Amy

Step Works - Not my Favorite

I think Step Works is too redundant in the second section. And the music is not as good as other Cathe videos. It is my least favorite of all videos. It is still superior to most other cardio workouts on the market, but for some reason I find Section 2 to repeat the same moves over and over.

My favorite Cathe Video step only video has got to "Power Max" -- followed by "Step Jam" I love the music in "Interval Max" more than any other Cathe video.

One of the greatest workout videos ever made for advanced exercisers IMO is "Body Max." It's a classic and can be divided up in so many ways.

I love Step Jam

I started with the Wedding Tape, as my first Cathe tape & only second step tape ever attempted. I have now mastered Step Jam & love that great feeling of accomplishment that I get when I "get" the choreography. I've gone on to Step Heat & am finding that I'm picking it up much easier than either of the first two tapes. But I got hung up in Step Max's warmup. Isn't that weird? Guess I'll go back to Step Max after I finish learning Step Heat & see if it won't be easier. Just keep that remote with the rewind button handy & you won't go wrong what ever tape you decide to get.
Good luck!

I have to agree with susan!!

I agree with everything she said! The order of the videos she listed is exactly what I would have suggested. I'm adding on, however: Regarding StepWorks--it is my absolute, all-time FAVORITE Cathe tape. It is such a blast (does this really count as a WORKOUT when it's so much fun??), and if you enjoy complex choreography, I think you will find it well worth it to work your way up to that tape.

Hi Jessica

Well, I tried Step Max today and I loved it! I can't believe how tough the last section was! I had to march in place instead of those back lunges off the step because my heart rate was so high! I had no trouble following the choreography, Cathe's cueing was excellent. Thanks for your advice. Now, I can't wait to get Step Jam next :)

cardio

Maybe one of you can help me. I am new to Cathe's
video's. I just recently purchased MIS tape, did it once, it's great. I have been going to a gym for 2 years now strength training, alternating with running on treadmill. Thought I would go back to home video's but was tired of my firm tapes. What would you recommend for cardio to a person who has trouble following complex choreography? Maybe you can reccommend other strength training video's as well. I am hoping to get better results with doing video's as I am discouraged with the gym. Thanks.

video suggestions

Hi Sabrina,
MIS is my favorite strength video. If you want to try Cathe for cardio, you could start with MIC, Mega Step Blast, or The Wedding Tape. I don't think the choreography is too complicated in any of these. Body Max has both cardio and strength training on it and might be another one to try. Other great strength training videos are Cathe's Pure Strength Series. These are gym style strength tapes designed to be used each once per week. You might also want to check out www.videofitness.com to read reviews of these videos. Good luck and let us know what you decide.
