I have recently tried several of Cathe's step tapes, step blast, rythmic step, step pump & jump, I LOVE LOVE THE WORK OUTS, but I am finding some of the moves in the steps a little confusing and then I don't feel I get a good work out because I am standing there staring at the t.v. going huh!!. I did the firm for about 2 years, and have all the steps down perfect. Should I just give it some more time or should I buy a few of her older videos that might help with that?,I don't want to give up because I feel these will be great and I love step tapes. I did watch them first too more than once, but only tried them each once, maybe I just need to give myself more time. Any suggestions?. I work out early in the morning, I also woek full time so I need to start working out first thing to get in my exercise. I don't have time to replay the step until I get it right. I do love her weight tapes as well, Cathe is the best. Any suggestuions anyone?.

Thank you Debra

I personally think you should have ALL of Cathe's tapes...:)...but seriously you need to give it more time. I never get a workout the first time. Some of the older Step tapes do have easier choreography. Alot of times when I get confused, I really concentrate on Cathe's voice and don't watch the TV and that has seemed to help as I know most of her moves. Good luck Debra and keep trying...:)...Carole

Hi Debra! Sometimes I feel the same way I just sold all of my Cathe VHS workouts and started building up my DVD collection. I love KPC because the moves are basic, yet the workout is very intense. I was excited to try the Step Blast and the Step Jump and Pump, but when I did, I found myself also staring at the TV wondering the same thing as you. I am not going to give up on them yet. I did Step Blast again yesterday, and it was much better (meaning, I was actually catching on to some of the moves). There were still some times where I had to stop and stare or catch myself so I didn't trip over my step, but I did get a good workout, and it was more fun than the first time. Keep at it, and you will soon surprise yourself that you have mastered the moves.

You should definitely give it more time. I did the FIRM for several years also. I got my first Cathe in October and I truly love it. At first, the step seemed complicated. You say that you feel like you are not getting a good workout, maybe you should just plan a practice session where you can rewind the DVD and just keep trying until you get it. I know I always feel so proud when I finally have a move down. Once you get it, the workouts are truly intense then. Good Luck. Don't give up. You will get it.

I also had a hard time learning Cathe's step workouts. What worked for me was just trying to learn one workout, in my case Cardio & Weights. Once I got all the moves down I found that I could do all of her step workouts on the first try, and I'm not coordinated at all!
If you have some spare time during the day or after work, say 10 minutes, go and try to learn one section, and try one or two sections each day until you get it down. Also, if your dvd player has a slow motion feature like mine does, you can play the tough sections in slow motion and follow along.

Don't give up! Once you get it down it's a lot of fun.

wow thanks everyone WHAT POSITIVE FEEDBACK, THANKS.

I won't give up, I am not a quitter, LOL.

Good idea on watching the tape in slow motion and also doing a section even if it is 10 minutes after work.

I also thought of just listening to Cathe and have the music on the dvd down, there is nothing better than her awesome music to go with her work outs, but while learning I might try that too, you guys are great. Thank You and Good Night.

I've been doing Cathe (with Timeseaver) for the past month - at first, I just stood there looking at the tv going: "huh?!" at some of the moves - now I fly through them. If you can find the time, just re-do some of the routines, go through them in slo-mo on the dvd player and this practice really will help! You'll find that with your brain thinking and doing such complex moves, the time really will fly by. I used to do a lot of "regular" reebok style step workouts - and they just seem so boring compared to Cathe!

Good luck!
Josie :)
