CATHE: Question Regarding Weight Loss

Cathlete
Hello Cathe,

I wanted to know if you are trying to loose weight, should I be doing Muscle Endurance workouts or Heavy Weight workouts with my cardio?

Thanks

I'm not Cathe but I thought I would tell you what I think.
I think that if you use muscle endurance workouts along with cardio it would better target for weight loss. Then once you have acheived your goal in weight, move onto heavy weights. They will better tone your muscles after a weight loss.
I dont know how true this is so don't quote me, but from reading a lot of these posts, thats what I am led to beleive.

I am also curious about this! I am doing Cathe and Weight Watchers. I am not concerned with builing up a lot of muscle right now, just toning and losing the fat. I am wondering if 2-3 full body endurance workouts would be best for this? I was doing more endurance workouts and was having good weight loss combined with cardio. I am thinking of starting to do more strength but am a bit hesitant!

What are you doing right now, Xenafan?

Every person is different, but I lift heavy and still lose fat. I average about 1.5 lb. loss per week. After losing about 50 lbs. I hit a 2 month plateau and someone suggested I try Cathe lifting and I got pyramids and now I'm losing again, almost down 60 lbs. I think maybe that extra muscle is helping to burn the fat all the time or gave my metabolism the kick it needed. Also, I frankly find that I have more confidence and feel firmer since adding the heavy lifting. Feeling better makes it easier to stay motivated to eat correctly and exercise...positive cycle.

If you want more details on my current rotation check my website. I'm planning to change over from pyramids to S&H in May. I plan to keep lifting heavy till I reach my goal and beyond. I will say that I do a lot of cardio however. 4-6 hours per week plus yoga and some "lighter lifting". So I just mix it up and keep the body guessing.
