Hi Cathe
I tried to ask this question once or twice but my thread gets buried and i know you are a very busy woman. I was on the road trip this August (The pregnant lady!) and wanted to know,
is STS safe for a pregnant woman to do? Im due in feb but i know other ladies who are pregnant on the forums were wondering the same thing. I know we should just keep pace with what we do currently and not try to gain improvements.

MY question is, is this program good for post baby? I was thining of starting it after i have my baby and im cleared to workout. Kind of like a get my body back after baby type workout.

Thanks in advance for your reply

STS and Pregnancy

Not Cathe, but I am a nurse practitioner in women's health. I frequently get asked questions about working out during pregnancy and post partum from work out friends at the gym. I always refer them back to their doctor. Your doctors will ask you specific questions about what your present work out intesity is and what you can expect the level of intensity from STS. They will want to know if you monitor your heart rate during workouts, because that will be one way to judge how hard you are working. Your doctor will reevaluate post partum and give clearer recommendations at that time depending on your delivery. You probably are excited about starting STS, but make sure you follow your doctor's recommendations. Good Luck to you!!!!

Thanks for the advice but my doctors are not helpful. Unless they do workout videos at home, people dont really understand the intensity of my workouts etc. I've been advised a couple different things from a couple different people but mainly i listen to my body and dont push too hard. I've managed to keep up a similar intensity and still feel good. THe only thing that is hard now is squat thursts/burpees lol. and some ab work. ALl that is pretty much out of the question.

I was looking for cathe's input, i know some girls on the expecting forum were wondering if its safe during pregnancy and i'm wondering if it'd be good post baby. I will listen to my body and modify if needed but i'd like to follow the program as is and thought it'd be a good way to regain my former self :)

My guess why you are not getting answers to this, is it really is a liability to the board moderators for non-medical people to provide what equates to medical advice. The answer will/should most likely be, discuss with your doctors. Sorry your doctors have not been much help, but maybe if you explained to them that it is a heavy lifting workout with your choice of cardio, they could give you a more definitive answer.

Oh, im not looking for a medical answer. Since Cathe designed the program and has worked out pregnant herself before, i just wanted some input. Of course we wouldnt hold her liable for anything. I know to discuss things with my doctors and medical professionals. I was just looking for input from Cathe from a fitness angle since she designed the program. I think by the time STS arrives, i may have already given birth. So i was planning on doing this as a post baby program if time, and my newborn!, allows. I know th other ladies who are pregnant/newly pregnant were inquiring about this though.
