Cathe - OT about the "Grand Tetons"....

I hope it's okay to ask you about this, even though it's not REALLY fitness related. (Well, traveling with 4 kids across the US will require ALOT OF STAMINA!!:-tired) I remember several years ago you made a trip to the Grand Tetons and we're considering this to be one of our stops on the way back from the west coast. I've looked at several websites about this area, and it looks awesome. However, I'm just not sure if it's one of those places you really need to spend alot of time at in order to enjoy being there. The view itself is worth it, I'm sure. But since it's a place we're considering going to on the way home (to MD), I don't know how enthusiastic, or how much energy we'll have at that point. Just looking for a personal spin on the area. Thanks

Jackie

Hi Jackier,
Iam from the area, actually I live in SE Idaho but that is only about 2 hours from Jackson Hole. You are correct the place is beautiful and that you don't need to spend alot of time there.

But if you are contemplating stopping there have you thought about driving through Yellowstone Park instead? It is absolutely beautiful. You can drive through the lower loop of the park in one day. The upper area doesn't have as much to see.

Depending where you are coming from you could do Yellowstone Park and see the Grand Tetons.

If you want to talk or get more information you can email me at

Hi Jackie! I don't know what your itinerary includes, however, as beautiful as the Grand Tetons are, I thought that the Grand Canyon was a bit more breathtaking and scenic for a stop off visit. Don't get me wrong, I loved our stay in the Tetons, but I felt the Tetons were more for a vacationer to spend a quiet few days with nature and wild animals, while taking in a few hikes or a boatride along the mountain view. Just my perspective of our vacation. Hope this helps!

As far as the Grand Canyon, we're stopping there on the way out west and this stopover will be on the way back! (Are we crazy, or what?) And my husband had wanted to go to Yellowstone Park, BUT I wasn't sure how much of the park we could see in a couple of days without running around like crazy!:-wow. And it sounds like we can enjoy the park even if we're only there for 3 or 4 days. (Please correct me if I'm wrong!) Thanks for all your help!
