Cathe - ? on Form during Bicep Concentration Curls

Hi Cathe-

I'm enjoying the new series immensely.. Great job in making a super challenging and fun new series!

My question is on form while doing Bicep concentration curls..

When lifting the weight during this exercise, should I keep my forearm and wrist straight, or do I need to put a twist at the end of the motion?

I am trying to figure out how the motion of a concentration curl is different than a standard bicep curl in that I feel it in the same place of my bicep during both exercises.

Thanks in advance, Lynn M.

You should always keep your wrist straight out of your forearm. The difference between a standard bicep curl & a concentration curl is that you have greater range of motion with the standard curls. By placing your arms on a rest of any sort (whether it's your knee, the stability ball or a padded bench accessory), you have limited range of motion. It forces you to hold your upper arm still. You will feel it in the same place but you are working your arms a little differently.

Hope that helps.

Hi Lynn! A standard bicep curl works the length of the bicep through full range of motion. The concentration curl has a little less range of motion and hones in on working the peak of the bicep. It is optional if you want to put a slight twist at the top of the concentration curl to enhance the peak :)
