Hi Cathe,
Welcome back! Sounds like all went well with your newest series, and I personally cannot wait for them!!
I'm so glad you are back, because I could use your expert advice. What would be a good way to slim down the buttocks. I'm 5'1, and my lower half is a problem. I have all your videos. I try to do cardio at least 30 minutes 5 times a day, and legs/buttocks twice a week in addition to working my upper half. However, my lower half is only getting bigger, at least my shorts and pants are tighter in that area. Am I doing too much or too little? Should I try something else? Thanks so much in advance for your help.
Lynn

Heya Lynn,
I'm not Cathe, obivously :) but my legs are my problem area too and I find the best thing for them is a combination of lower body strength workouts and kickboxing. Step also works well for me but kickboxing has done wonders for the tops of my thighs along with a whole lot of lunges.

Hi :)

I think most women have this particular problem, me included. Lisa is right in that kickboxing (if it is done intensely enough) works WONDERS for your legs. I did the original Tae Bo Advanced workout for quite a while, and my legs were in the best shape of my life... I have grown very annoyed with Billy Blanks, but I have to admit that it works. Cathe's kickboxing is fantastic as well, I just haven't stuck with it for a long period of time to see the results... Hope this helps... Oh, and, of course, weights are always the way to go as well. I haven't figured out "the secret" yet, though... I'd love to hear anyone else's suggestions

:)

Thank you both. I have Cathe's kickboxing, however, my calves tend to get cramped during the kickboxing. I'd love to know "the secret" myself, if there is one!!!:D Looking forward to Cathe's response on this.

Labree,
I hope this helps you as much as it did me. I was weight lifting 3 times a week, but now I do 4 days a week, I still do cardio and my other exercises, but upping my weight lifting another day really nelped, my butt and legs are getting smaller, in fact I bought size 6 levis in May and was in them by the end of June, now those 6's are loose and I am having to find smaller pants. :7 ... Rhonda :7

p.s. ... I am 5'2" and weight 111 now started at 138 in March of this yr. However I did change my eating habits, and also I drink LOTS of water ....

I've never had cramps anywhere in my body with kickboxing so this advice may not be enough to solve your problem. I do have a problem with tight calves since breaking my foot last year and calf stretches, which I do whenever I feel any pain coming on as well as during workouts. I rarely get any pain there these days and when I do, it doesn't take much to make it go away. As for cramps, are you getting enough fluid? Water is best of course but getting more of any (non alcoholic) fluid is better than not getting enough.
Hope it helps :)

Do you do a "boxer's shuffle"? You're on your toes a lot during this move, and it might be adding to calf soreness.

I know water helps a lot, and I should probably up my intake.
Rhonda....what weight workouts do you use?

Labree,
I have MIS, and Power Hour dvd, and I just ordered PS. Now I have to say I don't do the step work in the dvd, cause I don't have a decent step bench, mine is not as long as the one cathe uses.
One of the days I will actually get to the step workout, but for now I am staying with what is working :7 ...... Hope this helps ... Rhonda :7

Rhonda,

I was wondering if you could give an example of some of the ways you changed your eating habits. I have the same problems too. But it seems as if your doing a great job of improving.

Thanks,
Debbie

Howdy Debbie,
I try to eat as clean as possible, I try to eat as much protein in my meals as possible with my veggies. I don't eat anything at least 2 or more hours before bed, that way when my tummy gets to growling, I let it feed on stored fat. I do chew gum to help. I cut back on sweets, sugar. I use protein powders to suppliment, also protein bars instead of candy bars. This stuff can be expensive.
I drink between 80 and 100 ozs of water a day. If I think of anything else, I will get back with ya :7 ..... Hope this helps .. God bless, Rhonda :7 :7

Rhonda,

Could you share your "routine/schedule" with me? Do you workout 6 days or 7? How long are your workouts?

TIA
Sue<>< :)

Howdy Sue,
I lift weights 4 times a week, Cathe doesn't recommend this, but it works for me for now.

Sunday: I do MIS

Monday: mornings I do AB hits 20 minutes, winsor pilates AB sculpting and buns and thighs, and I do a fast walk 50 minutes, at night I do Power Hour.

Tuesday: mornings I do my walk again, pilates buns and thighs, and at night I do MIS.

Wednesday: I do my walk, and pilates ABs, and buns and thighs and AB hits.

Thursday: I do Power Hour, and buns and thighs and my walk ( sometimes I do my walk in the evening when I am off from work).

Friday: I do my AB hits and pilates ABS, and buns and thighs, my walk at night.

Saturday: I do what ever I feel, if I want to exercise I do and if I don't well ...

I also throw the terminator in once or 2 times through the week, its alot of exercise but it works for me ......

God bless ... Rhonda :7 :7 :7

Wow, you sure do workout...I'm just looking for an hour or so a day to help me slim down. I hope that's all I need, I don't have a lot of time as it is.

Yeah, I know I workout hard, but I have a goal I want to get too and I want to get there soon :7 .. Labree, an hour a day is great for you, I know that not everyone has the time to exercise that I do and the fact that the job I have allows me to exercise at night while I am at work. My sons are almost grown 17 and 20. So I am getting my body back into shape :7 .... God bless you all ... Rhonda :7

RE: Yohimbine?

I vaguely remember hearing of "yohimbine" in pharmacy school (I'm a pharmacist). Isn't it used to prolong erections or to increase blood flow to the genitila? I could be completely off, but when I saw this in the subject line I just had to reply. ;)

RE: Yohimbine?

I think you're right, it is also used for erectile dysfunction, as are other A2 receptor antagonists (I'm a biochemist/medical writer).

Congrats on the pregnancy!!

Sharon.
