Cathe Marathon Today 12-3-05

Okay, I'm reliving the Cathe Roadtrip today thanks to a suggestion made by Shelly (allwildgirl). Not sure if I should really *thank* her though for such an evil idea }( LOL but I wanted to do it to see if I could do it - a personal challenge I'm setting for myself. I'm calling it my Cathe Marathon even though the workouts won't be done back-to-back, it'll still feel like I've run a marathon by the end of the day. :p

I know others are doing this tomorrow and I wish them lots of energy and high adrenaline. :)

My Cathe marathon will consist of Rhythmic Step, Muscle Endurance and Kick, Punch and Crunch. So far, I've done RS including the challenge. Legs started out feeling a little wobbly and I had doubts about being able to do all complete all 3 workouts today. After the 1st segment, the wobblieness was gone.

Going to go Christmas shopping now and out for lunch (wonder if any place around here serves salmon?) and then will do ME mid-afternoon. I'm definitely skipping the triceps exercises though thanks to DOMS from GS-Chest/Triceps on Thursday.

I'll post back later and let you know how it went.

"I know you're tired, but jump higher" Cathe

Hi Sue!

Good luck! I think I may be joining you today since I have the house to myself! That doesn't happen often! :) My plan is a little easier than yours!

StepJam (just because I've never done it and am excited to try it.)
either Push/Pull or Supersets (because it's been quite a while since I've done either one)

and either KPC or KickMax depending on how much energy I have left by then!

I'll relive the day in my imagination 'cause I'm doin' NOTHIN' today! Too much aerobics for my 56 year old bod this week, so I HAVE to pay attention to the voice in my head that says, "Take a rest day!"

Note to add that even when I WAS at Cathe's for the Roadtrip, I did NOT do all 3 workouts, only the morning step class (I watched the other 2). There's no way I could have lived through all three and survived the busy travel day on Sunday!
Just Do It! :)

Laura - Good luck to you, too! :) Step Jam is one of the few Cathe workouts I don't own so you'll have to let me know how you like it. Doing ANY 3 Cathe workouts in 1 day is something to be proud of.

Honeybunch - You are wise to listen to your body and believe me, if it's not happening for me later when I do KPC, I'm quittin' early! :p I do not want to risk injury to this slightly younger 42 year old bod!

So as for my marathon, I just finished ME a little later than planned because I spent more time Christmas shopping. The stores were more crowded than usual but not bad and it's SNOWING! We're supposed to get 6 inches. Hoping DH won't be mad at me if I skip the shoveling after KPC. :7 He and DS are in Madison for the day visiting friends.

Will post later and let you know how I survived KPC!
 }( :p

I DID IT! I DID IT!

I'm so EXCITED right now! I just finished KPC, the last leg of my Cathe marathon, in order to re-live the July Cathe Roadtrip which I was fortunate enough to attend. I can't explain how I was able to do this. Never in a million years would I have imagined being able to complete 3 full Cathe workouts in 1 day!!! I only had about an hour rest after ME but wanted to get KPC over with since I posted on this board and felt committed to completing all 3 workouts today. I kind of took the Nike attitude to "just do it" and before I knew it I was done with the intensity drills and then had only the combos left. Then combo 1 was over, combo 2 was over, combo 3 was over and I even did the abs!

It's not a feat I think I'll attempt again for a very long time because it's, well, um, nuts, but I do feel a sense of accomplishment. I just hope I can move tomorrow! LOL ;-)

Now it's off the make dinner and shovel snow (or maybe just push it around on the driveway until DH comes home and takes over ;) ).

RE: I DID IT! I DID IT!

Congratulations Sue & Laura.

Ooops! I forgot all about this. Guess I'll be doing this challenge tomorrow. Right now, I'm going to go do some legs.

RE: I DID IT! I DID IT!

Well, I did it! Step Jam was okay but there was a part that was frozen right after the warm up so I skipped one section and did combos 2&3 and then did the Rhythmic Step Challenge to make up for lost time from Step Jam. (I'll have to figure out whether it's my DVD player or the DVD! I was getting frustrated!)

Push/Pull was pretty easy. Now I remember why I don't do it very often although it was nice to do something different.

KickMax was also pretty easy and since there was a gap of about 3 hours from the last workout, I felt pretty good. I did skip the blasts, though because earlier today I hit myself on my right shin with a heavy bag and I'm STILL feeling it! I DID do the leg drills, though, which I have only done once before.

Anyway, I survived! Congrats to you, too, Sue! (I'm rhyming here...:) )

Whoa mamma! Shelley is definitely evil haha! I don't know about this. I read this thread earlier today and in honor of it I did my own kickboxing marathon: KPC's segments 1 and 2 + CK drills + KM leg conditioning drills + KPC core segment and stretch. I think it was something I could do, but I will try this combo someday. How often do you think we can do these Cathe marathons in a year without risking injury? Every 3 months or so? Just curious. Maybe we could do this together every couple of months to break plateaus. Just an idea I thought I'd share. :)

RE: I DID IT! I DID IT!

Yeah, Laura! You should be proud of yourself for surviving your Cathe marathon. :) Are you sore today? I'm feeling a little stiff but not too bad. Also did snow shoveling last night after I posted and more to do today. That just might be it for my workout today - I plan on taking it easy.

Sue

Sounds like an awesome workout! I don't know how often you would be able to do marathons like this w/o risking injury. Depends on lot on your fitness level, the workouts you choose, and how you're feeling that day...
