Cathe endurance or strenght training?

Hi, Cathe. I'm loving your videos! I have a question though, some of your weight videos stress strength or endurance, what is the difference? Does it depend on the type of body someone is trying to sculpt? Thanks a bunch.

Hi Shanese! Muscle endurance focuses on moderate weight training for longer periods of time with little rest between sets. Muscle strength focuses on heavier weights with more rests to recover in between sets. They both promote healthy and strong bones however each provides different benefits. Muscular endurance training will help you with stamina. For instance you will be able to do everyday activities such as the following with more ease. Holding a baby for extended periods of time, waiting in line holding a heavy basket of groceries, shoveling out a snowy driveway, etc. Muscular strength training would assist you in some of the following activites: Lifting a 40 pound bag of dog food into your shopping cart, lifting a child in and out of a car seat, maneuvering heavy objects around the house etc. As far as appearances go, some people find that their body types respond better to one type of training over the other. Some find that heavy training provides a more bulky appearance. Some find that muscular endurance training gives them longer leaner muscles. It depends on your genetics, what your goals are, and what type of physique you are wanting to obtain/maintain. I encourage people to get both types of training into their routines. Sure, you can favor one over the other but definitely be exposed to both. The health benefits of both are too good to pass up (ie: better posture and better bone density to name a few). Take care!
