Cathe, dumbbell/barbell question?

Cathe,
Will I get the same results if I use dumbbells instead of a barbell? For example, if I use two 15lb dumbbells to squat with instead of a 30lb barbell will I still get the same results? I know this may seem like a simple question but you use a barbell alot and I just wondered of there was a reason for that? I'm very small framed; in December I hurt me back lifting a 30lb barbell over my head. Any advice on this Cathe would be appreciated...I really don't want to re-injure my back, that wasn't fun!
 
I don't know if this will make you feel any better or not, but I use dumbbells as well. I don't own a barbell and right now have no plans to buy one. I find that the dumbbells are effective for me and do provide adaquate resistance, plus they're easier to hold and don't hurt my back or neck. Whenever I've used a barbell in a gym I've had neck/back pain afterwards for days. Not fun.
Just thought you'd like to know that someone else is doing the same thing that you are!
