Cathe I eat alot of Zone,Balance Gold & Womens Health Peek Organic Brownie Bars?(easy to travel with etc.)
Is there any cleanliness in the tiniest amount in these bars?
I prefer these over regular food.
Maybe I shouldn't eat 6 or more?
If you say stop eating }( I will.
I realize anything processed is a no no, but I like um alot.

I'm not Cathe, but there's nothing clean about Zone or Balance bars. I'm not familiar with Women's Health. For eating on the go, try Larabars. They are as clean as a bar can get. ;)

I really didn't realize those bars were really that bad.
Do you mean Luna Bars?
Thanks for responding?
Rocky

I love Larabars!

Vega bars are also clean.

Most protein/meal replacement bars ar nothing more than glorified candy bars, with artificial ingredients in.

I wouldn't eat more than 1-2 a day, as a quick meal replacement for 1 meal and a snack. Certainly not 6 a day, no matter now healthy a bar you can find.

try eleva8te bars. they are all natural. the only thing in them is whey protein and dried fruit. i order mine from www.prosnack.com. they take about 10 days to come b/c each batch is made fresh. the berry one is delicious. you can also get them at some Whole Foods stores.

I would just down a good ole' Snickers bar if I were you, peanuts have protein right?}(

Honestly, I never eat those bars, to me, carrying an apple with me and eating that instead is just as easy, and better for me. But that is just me of course.

I generally don't post. But wanted to chime in on this one. I attended the Obesity program at St. Luke's Hospital in NYC. The dietician warned that the bars are most likely even worse than that good ole' Snickers bar. Unlike these massive companies, the health bar industy is unregulated. So basically, you have to accept the number of calories they tell you. But many independent studies have found that those bars contain much more calories than stated. So, be cautious depending on your main goals. If you're trying to lose weight, I'd suggest to cut down on the bars and eat equivalent foods that aren't so processed such as a handful of almonds, or walnuts.

I thought I would join in this discussion, what about GNU bars? They are not a protein bar, but a fiber bar, it is high in carbs, low in protein, would anyone know if these bars could be classified as clean?I have read their ingredients and there doesn't appear to anything artificial in them.

I'm fascinated by but completely ignorant about this food cleanliness thing. Why is one bar clean but the others aren't? What do I look for when reading the labels?

Here is the ingredient list from a Lara Bar (cherry pie flavor): Dates, almonds, unsweetened cherries

I don't have the energy to type the ingredient list from a Zone bar, but let's just say there is a long list and High Fructose Corn Syrup is in there.

Wow. Scary. But I couldn't have gotten a clearer example of the difference between clean and unclean eating so thank you. High Fructose Corn Syrup is everywhere. I once read the labels of every brand and type of whole grain wheat bread at a Meijer store and never found a loaf without HFCS as one of the top 3 ingredients. In bread. Why? I did finally find sugar-free whole grain wheat bread at Kroger (Private Selection) but even it probably has a bunch of bad stuff in it (I'm not educated enough about all this YET to know). I wonder what all the diabetics eat.
