Carole--I don't get this, what is wrong with my body?

Well, that was a weird intro but I couldn't think of anything else. Here is the deal: My shape is thus: medium thru the chest, small waist and wide hips (meaning, a difference of eight inches from chest to waist and a differnce of twelve inches from waist to hips, yes weird). Anyway, while I was (and still am kind of) rehabbing (sp?) my foot, I worked on my arms more. Well, I hate to brag but yours truly has a couple of nice biceps on those arms now. I lifted heavy. But, all those years when I lifted heavy on the lower body, no bulging muscles. What is the deal here? Thank you!
 
First off...we need to see pics of those biceps!!!..:)...I think the easiest explanation is that different things work for different people. Most women won't get bulging leg muscles unless its genetic or they follow a bodybuilders lifestyle. I know some women here can downsize their thighs with heavy weights and us others kinda bulk and not neccesarily with bulging muscles! Some benefit with the Freestyle approach. I think also this whole concept can change as we get older, which I have seen. I know my upper body does much better with heavy lifting and a clean diet.

I know someone asked Cathe about legs in the Ask Cathe forum, this is part of what Cathe says works for her: "What works nicely for me in this area is having two or three high rep moderate weight leg workouts for every heavy one. But works even better is clean eating. The minute I let unclean eating become more mainstream in my diet vs a treat here and there, my thighs are right there jumping at the invitation" So there is yet another way to try working your legs!!! Confused now???? I'd say to try one thing at a time for about 6 weeks, if you don,t get the results you want try something else. And try to eat clean...HTH...:)

pictures of my biceps, uh....a few months when I can compare with you. Ha, like that is going to happen.
I really need to live on a planet where clean eating is peanut butter, marachino cherries, Cadbury Dairy Milk Chocolate, Anchovy Pizza, etc. etc. Dreaming, dreaming.
 
When I did eat animal protien...anchovies on pizza was heaven...no comparison needed Kate...I know you are happy with your upper body results and that makes me happy...:D
