Caribbean workouts

Hi, Happy snowday to everyone that got one. Have any of you done Caribbean Workouts? What did you think of them? Thanks in advance.

I've did them on occasion when I had fittv. They aren't bad. They are very easy compared to Cathe and very short but they were nice for a change of pace when I wanted a short and low intensity w/o once in a while.

I've done the aerobic one and the kickboxing ones. Each has 4 segments about 20 minutes each. The kickboxing one has two sections on the step and the two sections with no step. The aerobics one has two low impact sections and two hi/lo sections. There one one low impact section I really enjoyed. The only thing I don't like about them is the sometimes confusing camera angles. I also don't like that after the "commercial breaks," the sequence of the routine is different. Other than that, I like them. I loved the background!

The DVDs are probably intermediate in intensity, so I use them only on light day or when I'm not feeling well. These dvds were a lifesaver for me when I injured my leg and could not do my Cathe DVDs for several weeks. I can't remember how much I paid for the Caribbean workouts, but I know they were dirt cheap.

You can get them at Walmart for something like $2.50 each. I have a couple and don't like them at all, so I don't think they're worth the cash, personally. (I couldn't even get rid of mine SASE on the YaYa swap!) If you're looking for intermediate-level cardio, you might have better luck with Kathy Smith or Karen Voight.

I only like the kick boxing ones. They're good for a short cardio or add on. I used them when I did the cardio sections from BBC to make the cardio longer.

I have some of these with Shelley McDonald and some with David Snively and use them occasionally. I like her step kickboxing but they are no where near as intense as Cathe's step workouts. I agree that they can be a good add on but, for me, they mostly gather dust.

I really like Shelley McDonald as an instructor.

The workouts are short, and intermediate, but they're nice as a warm-up to weight work, or when you want a lighter workout, or you're not in the mood to workout, but want to do something, or when you just want to move and want something very simple. you can also string them together for a longer workout.

I like the cardio workouts. Walmart has a two-pack including pilates and 'buns, hips and abs" or something like that. The 'b/h/a' workouts are actually cardio workouts with a bit of toning thrown in.

I didn't like the kickboxing workout when I tried it (Netflix has this one, and maybe some others), because some of the moves were not sequenced well, and the 3 workouts were very repetitive).

Agree with Kathryn - I found caribbean workout on FitTV and thought Shelley was a decent instructor so have since recorded a bunch. The cardio workouts are short and so are great for a lighter day. I don't find any of the pilates or weight work of use, though (spoiled by Cathe and others).

I like the Kickboxing ones. There are two that are Step Kickboxing and I those. I like the scenery since they are beachy and sunny. Great for snow days. I would say they are intermediate level and easily could be modified up or down. These are great to have around since they are all 20 min. and could be used as add-ons or light day cardios. Shelley does a good job on cueing and is motivating. I don't care for the sculpting ones I think they don't do anything. Their pilates ones are not bad also.

However Cathe is more intense cardio and Cathe delivers on the strength. I would only suggest the cardio and pilates ones save your money on the sculpting ones.

They're definitely much easier than Cathe. It's okay if you're looking for a short, easy workout. The pilates episodes are pretty decent.

I don't care for them. I just can't get motivated to do them. The workouts themselves are under 30 minutes and that includes the WU & CD. I have the Buns, Hips, and Abs and a Core set but every time I try one I take it right out. They are very easy and it's hard to break a sweat with these. I tried to like them b/c they sell the packs at Ross for so cheap, but I just don't.
