Sorry, I didn't read the words "with band work." Hmm, I've never done that particular experiment. Truth is though that once you stop doing a particular activity, you immediately start losing the benefits gained from that activity. So, while you may do band work, after those few weeks, when you go back to weight training, you won't start back exactly where you left off because you won't have maintained all your weight training strength.
The body registers fitness differently everywhere and for every activity. To run, you have to run. To excel at kickbox, you have to do kickbox. If I, a runner, stop running for a month and do just kickbox related cardio and conditioning moves, I will not be starting back to running with 10 milers. I would start back with a run/walk program initially, but I would get back to my former running fitness shape quickly. Yes, we can get it back quickly, but it can take a couple of weeks.
The body registers band work differently than weights work. It has a different feel and different effects/benefits.
Does this help?
