Cardio Kicks...for the choreographically challenged?

Hi all,

You have my curiosity up about this tape, but in all honesty, my attempts at advanced choreography have so far left me looking like a cartoon character all wound around myself. (Karen Voight and the Firm are up my choreography alley, if that tells you anything -- and I'm sure it does..:D ) I am an advanced exerciser fitness-wise and *love* a cardio challenge; unfortunately, they're hard to come by when you can't run with the big dogs choreographically!

What are your thoughts? Also, how thorough is Cathe's instruction on form on this tape?

Thanks in advance!

Cynthia

Hi Cynthia!

I would say out of all of Cathe's tapes, CardioKicks is much easier to tackle "choreography-wise" and it is just plain fun! I remember the 1st. time I did it, I didn't think it was that intense, but ever since, I have worn my heart rate monitor and it DEFINITLEY gets you up in your training zone. :-tired I feel Cathe's instruction on form is very good. She reminds you to bring your elbow back into your side after every punch, chamber your kicks, how to plant your foot on side kicks, especially if you are on carpet, etc. I can't imagine you being disappointed. If you are really, really choreography challenged, I still think you will have the whole tape down after 2-3 tries. There is a whole section of power drills that truly gets your heart rate up but is VERY easy to follow as it is more reps of the same move. ...and as Cathe says in the tape, "You'll need an umbrella" as the sweat starts flying! :D I'd say, GO FOR IT and let us know what you think. Hope this helps. Your-Friend-In-Fitness, DebbieH :)

Hi,
I just got Cardio Kick. I have done it twice and I LOVE IT!! I have the same problem with Cheography as you. I did not find this to be too hard. I did mess up a few times the first time, but that actually gave me a well needed rest. Wow what a workout. The great part about it is you can put as much or as little into it as you want. I know that if I'm having a lazy day I can just put less intensity into my punches. Although when she brings the guys up to the front }> , it really motivates me to work harder. Great motivation technique Cathe!!!! It sure works for me.

Anyway, I would say YES, YES, YES get Cardio Kicks. If you don't have any step tapes I would recommend MSB or Step Heat. The cheography is alot easier than I expected, because Cathe cues so well. I can't beleive how quickly I was able to pick up it up. I have Janis Sofle ?? Step, Kickbox and Funk, I have tried that numerous times and have given up, it's just too complex for me, but MSB and Step Heat are doable. Cardio Kicks is even easier.

Hope this helps,
Dawn

Hi Cynthia!

If you're debating whether to buy this video, here are my thoughts: Do it, do it, do it! :-jumpy I wouldn't go so far as to say Cardiokicks is for the "choreographically challenged," but it is pretty straightforward as far as the footwork's concerned, and Cathe's instructions are impeccable! Like you, I'm used to the somewhat.. ahem... simpler choreography on Firm videos and some others. On more choreographed step tapes, I sometimes find myself tripping over my own feet and I grow disenchanted sometimes just trying to learn the steps--forget about getting them down enough to get a good workout! But I picked this one up almost entirely the first time I did it and after two or three times I had the choreography down cold!

That said, even though the moves are perhaps simpler than in some other videos, this workout is never boring. It's currently my favorite cardio workout, hands down. I have to stop myself from doing it everyday. One of the best things about it is that the moves lend themselves to working out a lot of aggressions (which for me can build up from my hectic job) and that makes it doubly worthwhile! Like you, I'm an advanced exerciser too, and run at least 12-15 miles weekly in addition to videos, and there's no question in my mind that this one rates as a "challenge"! Good luck whatever you decide!

Forgot to mention: one of the best things about this tape is you need absolutely no equipment--zip, zilch, nada!

Well... maybe a towel to wipe away all the sweat!:):)
