Cardio Coach for Dummies

I don't know much about this program, but I have read many posts from others on this subject. I get the gist of it, and they sound great, but it sounds like you can only use these on a treadmill or something. I don't have a treadmill, but run outdoors. Can you use Cardio Coach to run outside? Is there just an instructor telling you things, or music, or what? I'm curious! Thanks in advance!

Have you checked out the website? Basically Sean O'Malley (Coach) breaks the workouts down into four levels of exertion. As long as you follow his coaching and enter the levels when he says, you can do it on any equipment. You can do it outside running. What you would do is, when the coach tells you to bring your self to level x, is to run faster or slower depending on what you need to do reach that level.

There is instruction, music, coaching, motivation, counting down, and encouragement. Each workout is broken down into different sections. Warum up, steady state, challenges, cool down, and on some, stretch. The challenges are different configurations of interval work. CC is fabulous. I just got my first one last weekend, and I am a convert.

Start by only getting one. The music they use is computer generated and sounds awful, so as inspiring as Sean's voice may be, there's no way I could ever use these because the music does not motivate me to push hard or even want to complete the workout. Not anywhere near as good as any Cathe soundtracks. So, try listeining to the audio samples at their web site before you purchase to see whather this is something you could stand to listen to repeatedly.

Sorry to pour cold water, but the matter of the music is such an important one.

I listened to samples of cardiocoach, and didn't care for the music, which is very important to me. Some people are also raving about itrain, so you might want to try that.

I make my own music workouts on my mp3 player. I'm very motivated by rock 'n roll by the original artists, so that's what I use. I've found a lot of great songs over the years that are perfect for my 4mph pace.

I pretty much wasted my money on four of them - I, too, can't get into the music.

Nancy...

Curious...what are some of your great songs for the 4mph range? I have been having fun making my playlists too and thought it would be nice to get some new tunes.

New ones I have downloaded:

Land Of Confusion-Genesis
Stupid Girls- Pink
Like a Prayer-Madonna

I did check out the website and I have to agree with you ladies! IMO, the music is actually pretty creepy and weird. I guess I really didn't get into the whole motivation thing, either. I'm going to take a pass on these. Thanks for all your help!

Hmmmm...this is an interesting thread. I have volumes 3 and 4, and love the music. It's sort of a techno/tribal theme...I dig it. :)

That's why I checked out the Cardio Coach website. I have read so may positive posts and it looked like a lot of people love it! It just doesn't sound right for me, though.

I have all 6 volumes and love each & every one. I think the music is great...I also love the tribal/jungle type! Coach Sean is very motivating.

Janice-

Some of the songs I've used over the years that are 4mph are:

Believe - Cher
Bitch - Rolling Stones
Brown Sugar - Rolling Stones
Cherish - Madonna
Disco Inferno - from Sat Night Fever
Dancin' in the Dark - Bruce Springsteen
Gimme Me Some Lovin' - Spencer Davis Group

I also use a lot of slower songs with higher inclines.
