Cappuccino

I'm sure I don't want to know the answer to this question, but....
Is the Cappuccino that you get out of those machines in gas stations have a lot of calories and fat? I seem to be addicted to it and wondering if that is where those extra pounds have come from. :-(

Yep, sorry! SuperAmerica posts the nutrition facts, and from what I recall, 8oz of cappuccino has 120-150 calories and maybe 5g of fat (just an approx). If I want something a little sweet, I use just a small amount of cappuccino and fill the rest with coffee.

If you're trying to lose some extra lbs., I'd definitely cut out those trips to the gas stations.

Hi Wendy! I see Lisa has answered and I totally agree to stay away!! I was like you...my car was on automatic pilot every time I passed our Dairy Mart that had Pumpkin Spice Cappuccinos. My car would just automatically turn in 3-4X/week. Long story short...I didn't think they were THAT damaging since it was coffee but decided to E-mail the company and ask for the numbers. I forget what the calories were but in a 24* cup (I know I should have KNOWN to not get the huge cup) there were FORTY grams of fat! Need I say, that did it for me? I still occasionally do what Lisa mentioned and stop in and put about an inch of the flavored fatty ones and top it off with decaf and it is surprising how you can still taste the flavor. Sorry to put a damper on your day but go easy and only use them for a very occasional treat.

Thank you both for answering!! I was pretty sure I knew the answer, but was really hoping I was wrong. I don't like coffee and when I drink water in the morning at work I am cold all day. I'm going to try your suggestions on just putting in a small amount and the rest coffee and see if I can learn to like it that way.

Have you ever tried a fat free latte with a sugar free flavor shot added? If you have a Starbucks or similar you can try that and it should be a good taste substitute and much healthier.

I was going to say that I know they have Cappuccino's that are made with non-fat milk...I get them from time to time at a convenience store and they are quite tasty. If it doesn't say non-fat, you probably should avoid it...

yeah unfortunately i agree w/ the bunch it's not good for you....but, if you are planning a sinful treat than it isn't so horrible once in a while. probably better to know exactly what is going into it.

Hey Wendy....if you have a Starbucks near you.....you can get a grande nonfat cappucino for only 100 calories, and a grande latte for only 160. They can add either sugar free vanilla or sugar hazelnut to either drink for you. Maybe not quite as tasty as the gas station variety...but almost guilt free!! The nutritionals are located on the website, you can "make" your favorite drink and see what's in it. Should only be viewed by those who really want to know. Some of the calorie counts are kinda scary. These days at work I am an unsweetnened tea drinker.....but that cinnamon dolce latte is oh sooooo yummy.

I just had a cinnamon dolce latte! :) Had it made with fat free milk otherwise I usually go with the sugar free hazelnut. Sugar free vanilla is a little sweeter. But at least at the same time I am getting some calcium without the sugar.

Hey Marie....wasn't it yummy??? You can cut out a little of the sugar by asking the barista to use less pumps of syrup. It is a little trick....the flavor is still there, since the syrups are plenty sweet. I do non fat all the time....but I have to have the WHIPPED CREAM!!
