Hi everyone. I have the ctx series and am waiting for the bb dvd. I am trying to get into a a rotation with the ctx and change my eating habits and lifestyle. I do good one week and then the next I end up skipping days and eating poorly. I know alot has to do with willpower, but you all seen so excited to do these things that I find difficult.
Any suggestions on how you stay motivated and focused on your goals.
Thanks,
Lizzy

Maybe you shouldn't try doing everything at once. Just focus on getting the exercise in and you'll probably start changing your eating habits by default. Once exercise is a regular part of your life then start focusing on changing your eating. Just a suggestion.

For me, working out is like brushing my teeth, it's just part of my daily routine so motivation is not really an issue.

Hi Lizzy, Jo makes a great point. I'm one of those who works out 5-6 days a week, but there are days when I just don't have any motivation. It's not exactly willpower that I have... maybe I'm just stubborn. I tell myself, "Okay, just get through that warm-up." And once I'm done with that I convince myself to make it through the first 10 minutes of the workout. I keep egging myself on until I can feel the endorphins. Because I work out a lot, I do watch what I eat. I don't want all the hours I put into my workouts to go to waste.

Don't be so hard on yourself. The key is long term listen to your body. Start with something that is doable and reward yourself (maybe 3 times a week, then 4, then 5) In 3 weeks you are up to 5 days a week.

One week work on cutting down or stopping sugar, next increasing water...

Trying to do it ALL at once seems like a lot to do - focus on the progress you are making!

Let us know how it goes

Hi Lizzy,

You might try tracking your food in a food journal. There are some good ones online for free. I used to use Fitday, but I'm sure others can tell you about some other good tracking software. Keeping track of every single bite I eat really helps me stay on track. I write down a stick of a gum, a swipe of frosting from the mixing bowl (count it as a piece of candy), a bite of my husband's grilled cheese when he's not looking -- everything! It helps more than you can imagine.

Great advice here Lizzy! Make one positive change per week, per day. Whatever suits you. Let your fitness lifestyle evolve slowly so it becomes a part of your everyday life. The more gradual the changes the more likely you'll be to continue. Don't beat yourself up. Just starting to to change your lifestyle is a wonderful accomplishment! Start out by eating as you usually do but making your portions smaller and perhaps adding one serving of vegetables to each meal. Make a list of healthier food choices you might like to try and a list of unhealthy choices you might be currently making and trade a healthy choice for an unhealthy one, one at a time. Overtime, your list will lean to the healthy side. Don't think that you can never indulge in junk food! Life is too short to not eat chocolate cake! There's a place for everything. Blance it out.

CTX is a wonderful place to start but modify it. Do 20 minutes of the cardio and start with light weghts. Add a few more minutes each week and a little more weight as the work becomes easier. It will and before you know it, it'll be too easy and you'll b spending all your money on new exercise equipment!

How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time!
