Canning Salsa

Need some help. I was wondering if anyone has every canned before...if so...is it possible to bypass some of the old traditions...can you just use your dishwasher for sterlizing and heating? Help!

We used our dishwasher on the hottest setting for the sterilization. We're still alive, after two years of doing so, so I guess it worked. :) Isn't home-canned salsa incredibly wonderful in the dead of winter?

I've canned for years on and off, but haven't used the dishwasher method...I think I'll try that this year. I've always put the jars in the oven (loaded it full) on around 200 degrees or so and just left them there until I was ready to fill them. I also do the lids and bands in boiling water. Salsa is our favorite and we usually can loads of it not just for dipping, but for enchiladas!!!!!

Okay....so you guy...just make the salsa..stick in the fridge....then boil the lids and rings...sterilize the jars in the dishwasher...then poor the salsa in the jar...put the hot ring and lids on and you're done? I've never done this before!!!!

Ok, now you have me drooling - how about some salsa recipes!

I'm too scared to try canning though - don't want to give anyone food poisoning from doing it the wrong way. I can barely cook, nevermind can!

hehe

I always had to have my salsa very hot before putting in the bottles or they wouldn't seal. That's the worst part is getting all the bottles to seal.
