Can too much clean eating make you pudgie?

I sit alot at my job. Past two days it seems all I do is reach into my food bag and eat everything I bring (fresh fruit, fresh veggies, salad, cheese, protien shake, chicken or tuna). The only time I get up is to go to the ladies room. I work out after work 3 to 5 days per week. I've noticed a little gain but I thought it was muscle. I dont count calories. I tried on one of those online programs but it was a pain putting in everything.

Am I eating too much and not moving enough?

Your thoughts?

seemed to make me pudge up. Try replacing it with more chicken. I know its less handy. Try it and see what happens. And yes, you can eat more calorically than you need while eating clean. So, weigh/measure it for a real clear idea.

Yes! If you end up eating more than your body needs.

It might be a pain to log your food, but once you do it enough times you'll have a complete list of your commonly eaten foods. Then all you have to do is click on to add it to your daily food list. Just do it for a week.

You might be eating an apple and count it as 80 calories and that's let say a serving size is 3ozs. Most fruit like apples, bananas and many other produce is usually anywhere from 2-3 servings of fruit.

By weighing at least you'll get an idea what a serving size is. Your apple could be 80 calories or as high as 240 calories. Those calories over time do add up.

Yep, a calorie is still a calorie.. Portion control is everything.

I have to be careful w/ nuts and dried fruit... If though they are considered fairly "clean", they are pretty calorically dense. I weigh out the portions of these, to minimize over eating on them.

Also, I think if you stick w/the same diet for an extended time your metabolism will adjust & stop burning as much carbs/fat. I did low carb for about 5 years--I lost 30 lbs in 8 weeks & kept it off for that time--then all of a sudden it stopped working for me.

Just like exercise, it's good to change it up & shock the system every once in a while.

I brown bag my lunch everyday too and it seems that somedays I don't eat everything and somedays I plow through it like some kind of rabid animal:D
But I do notice that if I am getting in alot of fiber I will tend to bloat but it normally goes away as soon as the leftover beans are gone of whatever the culprit so maybe it is something specific that you are eating that your body is not used to getting so much of.

Thank you for all the great responses. Its been a bit colder here than usual. Maybe my body is storing a little more to keep me warm. Like bears do in winter....
