Can This Be Eaten?

We got a large, wonderful jar of honey just the other day. Inside the jar was a big piece of honey comb. Can we eat this too, wax and all?

Hi Stringbean,

I found this link:

It seems like you can. I also asked my father the food scientist as well and he said, "sure, just take the bees out first." He thinks he's funny.

HTH!

What a great title for your thread!! Now that's an attention getter! I thought perhaps there would be a photo of some disgusting thing you found in your refridgerator!

Yes, you can eat the comb. :D

It's like the nursery rhyme..."he stuck in his thumb and pulled out a plum"...always a good thing to get a 'bonus'.

Actually, he could be right. When I was a kid, we used to get comb honey from a local beekeeper. One time, there WAS a bee in the comb, in a closed cell, and he ate his way out of it and started flying around our kitchen. We finally got him out the door, but it was an interesting time.
