Can Step make thighs bigger?

HI, I'm starting my 3rd week tomorrow on the boot camp rotation and have noticed my jeans are fitting tighter in my thighs. Is it possible its from doing so many step workouts in this rotation? I havent changed anything else. I am feel a little discouraged. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Lori BC

I don't think the step will make your thighs bigger. If you are doing a lot of lower body strength work and going heavy that might do it. Also, of course the old diet thing too. Sometime I think I am eating cleaner than I really am. If you are worried about step making you bigger maybe you should crosstrain a little more. Maybe add some running or kickboxing.

Some people do seem to get bigger thighs ("turnip thighs") from stepping. Maybe people who develop muscle more easily. As Susan suggested, crosstraining is a good idea. I find that kickboxing tends to keep the leg muscles leaner.

If anyone would be inclined to get bigger thighs by doing anything, it would be me. Step has never made my thighs bigger, and as a matter of fact, the ONLY activity that HAS made my thighs bigger was too much activity with the knife, fork and spoon! If I gain 1 lb., I can tell without even getting on a scale because it shows up on my legs.

I think too much blame is placed on exercise for getting "bigger," or "bulkier" when it's too often the result of eating too much of the wrong food, or even too much of what we so often call "clean" eating food.
Just Do It! :)

I agree with your eatin, but I do eat very good and healthy and I always have done more kickboxing type workouts . But the last couple of months I have revisited Cathes step w/o's so I thought that might be it. Lori BC

Sometime legs may get bigger initially, and it is temporary. More likely if you continue with your stepping you will burn some fat if you are eating sensibly and see a subsequent drop in your leg size as your fat % drops.

JMHO and experience.
