I recently purchased a brand new computer. I was having problems right out of the box with a consistant blue screen issue. I had transferred all of my music from my old computer already and tossed the old computer.
After a few weeks of eliminating problems, the tech support guy needed me to reinstall my operating system. This meant wiping out what I had on my computer. He said if everything was in my iPod I could transfer it back to my computer without problem. I never backed up my music as I didn't have time. The interesting this is that I backed up all of my docs, a few pictures, address book, and some ebooks onto my iPod as an external hard drive.
Bottom line is that after the process I lost my entire library!! I was able to get everything out of my iPod that was put there for back up (quite handy and cool I might add) except my music. Over 400 bucks of downloaded music, and it is all gone. I was numb with shock especially when I thought I would be safe.
I contacted iTunes in spite of their website saying "back up your music" and fully expected an apology and a "Bad Luck!"
Not the case
They sent me a nice email that said after careful consideration they would let me re download over 500 songs!! How cool is that? I loved iTunes before and was sick about it, but if they turned me down I was going to cry and never buy from them again. Now I can say how awesome their customer service is, and that I will be busy burning back up discs for the next two days but thankfully I have my music back! Yippee!!
