Hi, After reading a lot of positive reviews about Cathe in Collage and Video Fitness, I just have to give her tapes a try. Everyone seems to be a Cathe Friedrich fan! I'm a high intermediate exerciser and although I have done step aerobics in the gym, I wouldn't consider myself an expert. The videos I prefer are moderate choreography with hi/lo intensity (although i don't mind doing more hi intensity).Anyway, I would appreciate if anyone could list most if not all of the videos in terms of complex choreography. Which videos are the hardest and moderate? Thanks a lot! Btw, I just ordered the 8 video set and I haven't even tried any of her tapes yet! Am I crazy or what? Hopefully, I won't regret this! I hope to be hooked!

Hi Hippychick

,

I am pretty sure you can find just what you wanted here on Cathes site..it is listed out here somewhere...hmmm, maybe someone, or I can hunt it down. But just quickly wanted to say...you aren't crazy and you won't regret placing that order. Even if you find the choreography a tad more challenging..no one cues like Cathe, and you will have it down in no time. Besides..it sounds like intensity is what you really like and Cathe has a great way to make intesity fun

I could be wrong

Hmmm, I thought I remember a listing of Cathes videos from easiest to hardest on the site here? Hopefully, if it is there...someone can link you to it

I know a lot of people recommend the Wedding Tape as a good starter...meaning an easier one. Step Heat is another choice because it isn't as long.

The tapes on the high end...if you wanted to build up to Cathe slowly...wait to do IMAX(although..you can modify or do it in pieces in the beginning), MIC can be an intense one..but I don't think all that tough to learn choreography wise...and Step Works is a little faster than others...but I like that

An all time favorite and one of my earlier ones was Power Max...you can't go wrong with that one. And I am one of the worst at learning complex choreography...but I have no problem with Cathes stuff...have a ball!

Here is what to do

Go to the HOME page and in the upper right corner click on "here are other pages" and select FAQ's.
When that screen appears select "video questions"
and you will have a list of her videos ranked by choreography.

my input

Once you get one or two of Cathe's tapes down the others are much easier. I started with Step Jam - not her easiest in terms of choreography, but it sure made the followup tapes easier to learn! It's also a blast of a workout!

Another hint while learning her tapes. I always workout first, take a little break, then I drop my board to 4" & learn the tape. That way I don't feel like I sacraficed my workout while using rewind. It took me three times to get all of Step Jam down - less for others.

I think Step Heat is an excellent choice for a starter tape. Once you're hooked, look out! You'll be ordering all of her tapes!

Newcomer to Cathe

I bought BodyMax 3 weeks ago. It instantly became my favorite tape!! Today I ordered MIS, Step-n-Motion1, Mega Step Blast, Step Heat, and The Wedding Video. I like intensity, but in more athletic, uncomplicated moves. Did I make the right choices? Also, I would love it if Cathe made a strength video doing weightlifting first, then aerobics. What do you all think?

Hi Aimee,
I am new to Cathe also. I started the Wedding video about 1 month ago. You made the right choice as far as that tape goes. It is quite intense, but the choreography is not too difficult. I have difficulty with complicated, tricky choreography, but I did not find the wedding video complicated. I had most of the steps on the second try. I can't speak for the other videos. I have ordered Step Max, Step Jam, and Mega Step Blast. Wish me luck!!!My four year old son gets a kick out of seeing mommy jumping around on the step. I hope I don't ever get so tripped up that I fall on him. Guess I better wait till he's gone to bed before attempting Step Jam!! Have fun.

Don't laugh, but I HAVE done that!! Only my son was eight at the time, and his sisters thought it was hysterical!! I wanted Step Max and Step Jam also, so let me know what you think of them. they'll be next for me after I get these 5 mastered! Tell me what you think of Mega Step Blast, I ordered that one too. It's supposed to be moderate[for Cathe] coreography.

Thanks a lot Nancy and Liezl

I can't wait to start! I've seen some new photos of Cathe and the group here and they look fabulous- especially Cathe! 6 months after pregnancy at that! She is in super great shape-definitely an inspiration :) I think they're almost done with the tapings huh? Since I'm not a regular stepper, i'm wondering...does stepping make the calves thicker? I'm aiming for lean and toned legs rather than thick and muscular. I like the legs of Cathe and Kathy Smith...not Cory Everson.

Hi Aimee!

I only have a sec here but wanted to say that I love MegaStep Blast! It was one of the easier Cathe's to master also. It has one step called the ricochet that is a bit tricky at 1st., but once you master it, it is a BLAST! I also like this tape because it has a thigh blaster session at the end. I think that you will be glad you chose it. Let us know.

It's all about Mega Step Blast!

OK- I admit it--I have a total love affair with this tape, even though certainly not everyone agrees.
I'll tell you this tape worked for me from the get go, and it still is very active in my rotation of Cathe tapes. I just LOVE it. Honestly I just never ever get bored with doing it.
This tape and Step Jam are definitely where it's at for me. I have all of Cathe's tapes and use them all, but when I need a little extra motivation and confidence (or something like that) I just go back to MSB. I can't help it.

Hi Debbie H and Elyse!!!!!!

Ok! You guys talked me into it! Guess which tape I'm trying as soon as they arrive? MSB! SO, what are your opions on Step Heat, MIS, The Wedding Video and Step-N-Motion1? By the way, I saw that SNM3was discontinued, where's SNM2?

Step Heat,etc...

Hi! I actually don't have Step-N-Motion 1 (I guess that means technically I don't have all of the tapes)-- but I do like Step Heat a lot. It's different, the 1st section is about 25 minutes which makes the tape go by fast. I found the steps easy to master once I was familiar with Cathe's style, I picked them up right away.
MIS-- I used this tape before I had any real weight experience & I just loved it. I just used lighter weights, but I saw nice results. I don't use it at the moment because I'm in a PS rotation, but I definitely will go back to it. Watch out for those squats at the beginning!
I like the Wedding Video too. Really I think it's a personal preference, if you like 1 of Cathe's tapes then you really can't go wrong with any of them.
From the time I started working out with Cathe's tapes until now I have lost about 40 pounds, so as far as I'm concerned, Cathe can do no wrong!!

Step Heat etc...

I'm hoping I can't go wrong with any of them!! I'm in love with BodyMax [That's MY first Cathe tape, I was told I was crazy to start with that one ,but I love it!], but I was wondering if MIS and the strength portion are exactly alike. From the reviews the exercises sound the same are they??

missed that part!

Oh my-- if you STARTED with Body Max, you'll be thinking I'm a total wimp by the time you're through you're first viewing of MSB.
I did Body Max for the first time after about 8 months of working out regularly with Cathe's tapes. You are right, though, the weight section of Body Max and MIS are similar.

Missed that part

Hey, if anybody does Cathe's tapes regularly, there isn't ANY WAY your a wimp!! Right now itis my favorite, but I like more atheltic moves. That's why I picked the tapes I did. Were they good choices? It's alight if MIS and BodyMax are similar, but does she do the reps any slower? It's been 4 days since I ordered my tapes, I'm sitting on pins and needles waiting for them!! I cant wait until they arrive!!
