CALORIES AND WORKOUTS

CHARLIZEBOND

Cathlete
Hello,

I've just finished the intermediate rotation with Cathe. Although I lost weight, I realized as I lowered by calories in the last two weeks of the rotation, my weight loss slowed down a lot. And then when I increased calories, I lost weight again. I'm 5'6, 196.8lbs, and working out to Cathe 6 days a week as well as walking at least 14-30 miles a week. Is 1600-1700 calories too low for me? Any help would be appreciated.

My objective is to lose weight, with a goal of 6-8lbs a month.

Thanks

Rita

I am 46, 5-4, and now 138. I have lost 25 pounds since July, and my average calorie per day was 1800-2000. I eat 5-6 small meals a day, and concentrate on a real "clean" diet of fruits veggies, lots of fish, and lean protein, and whole grains. I watch portion sizes like a hawk.

I think you may be undercutting your calories, but when you up them, up them with healthy foods not junk, either diet or real junk.

I've been sticking to 1800 or so calories a day. I've lost 30 pounds in the past 6 months. I attribute a lot of it to exercise in addition to my caloric intake. I was running 25-30 miles per week but now I'm taking a break and doing videos. I wouldn't say 1700 is necessarily too low but I find that it helps if I have a higher calorie day occasionally to keep my body guessing.

Hi Rita.

Yes, I think think that calorie total is way too low for you but like another poster said, when you up it, make sure you do it with HEALTHY foods!:)

When I was losing weight after being pregnant I was calorie staggering. My low calorie days were about 1500 and high were about 2000. I am 5'3" and was roughly 150 pounds when I started doing this just to give you an idea.

Go here: http://www.annecollins.com/calories/calorie-needs-women.htm and you can find out how many calories you should be consuming. HTH.

Best of luck on your fitness journey and excellent job finishing your first Cathe rotation!:+

Hey guys,

Thanks for you advice. I upped the calories and now am losing. I guess my body thought I was severely restricting it and didn't want to let go of the weight. It's so weird to be able to eat this much. I find it hard to take in 1800 calories, as silly as that sounds.

When I was calorie staggering, the 2000 calorie days had me feeling like I was stuffing myself. I would often STRUGGLE to make that calorie count by the end of the day.

So happy we could help.

Happy losing!:)
