Calluses on Feet

It's gross but does anyone else get these from working out? I get them all the time on the sides of my feet, under the big toes; it's so nasty and annoying!! I can feel them forming especially when cross-training. Is there any way to prevent them?

I don't know if this will help you or not, but for years I have always worn those Thurlo socks for running when I work out. They have additional padding in the heel, the toe and down the side of the foot below the big toe. They are not cheap, but they last for a very long time. I also use a product call Kerasol on my feet at night and put white socks on. (Not very attractive, I know, but it is a choice.) This helps to keep calluses as bay. I also try to buy workout shoes with a wide toebox because my feet are wider in that area, and that helps to keep down the friction. Good luck finding what works for you.

I hate to tell you this, but calluses serve a purpose!

I have them in certain spots on my feet from years of running. If you get rid of them, and soften up those spots, it will cause blisters and worse. I know they are not that attractive, but I caution against doing anything drastic to remove them. Mine are on the sides of my toes and foot, so they aren't visible unless you're inspecting my foot closely.

I wear thorlo socks too, and have for many years. They don't prevent calluses... at least not when you run as much as I do. They do feel great though, and like MissL says they last for a long time.

Yes! I get them in the same spot - the side of the big toe and underneath the big toe on the side. I have never gotten them there before (usually on my heel or top of big toe if I ever got them). I guess all that side to side movement caused this even though my feet have never hurt from that movement.

I use a shoe with a wide box. I also soak my feet in warm water with bubbles and then exfoliate with a foot scrub or with a pumice stone. Then I slather on petroleum jelly and white socks and sleep all night in them. I exercise in the morning, so I still have the petroleum jelly on my feet when I go to exercise.

I did this about every other day until the calluses were gone and now I do this once a week. Although with winter coming I will probably do it more often since I sleep with socks on in the winter anyway.

Once I got rid of the calluses, it was easy to prevent them. And not having them hasn't caused me any troubles.

Good Luck!

I don't know about feet calluses...but I wear my little hand calluses from my weights like a badge of honor :D...yes, I have weight gloves....but who wants to wear them all the time when I can get my girl-calluses?:p
