Calling Sandi & Baby Ryan!!

Hi Sandi!

I was thinking about you and Ryan the other day and just wondered how you were getting on, as we had our little boys around the same time?!
I hope you and your family are well?

Daniel is growing like the clappers and, at 16 weeks, now weighs 16lbs 7oz!!! I have been weaning him for the last few weeks and he certainly seems to like his grub!! Has Ryan been experiencing the delights of solid food yet? I have to say though, I manage to get more food up Daniel's nose or in his ears than I do his his mouth, LOL!!

We've had him Christened today and he was as good as gold! Didn't cry or make a fuss, even when the Minister splashed water on his head!

Anyway, as I say, I hope you are well and would love to hear how you are doing!!

RE: Calling Sandi & Baby Ryan!!

Hello Kaz!!

So sorry I haven't responded - I haven't checked on this forum in ages and just thought I'd pop in tonight and see how all the mommies are. I rarely even get to any of Cathe's forums anymore...lack of time!

Great to hear from you! Daniel sounds like a healthy, happy little (though not so little!) soul. What a good size he is! Ryan is long and lean - 90% for length, but was about 25% for weight at his 4 month checkup. We go back in 2 weeks for his 6 month shots and checkup (already!!!!). He has definitely packed on some weight lately, but is still a long, lean baby machine.

I started feeding Ryan solids at 4 months after his shots and the OK from the doctor. He is enjoying rice/banana baby cereal, all fruits so far, and sweet potatoes are a big hit. Some foods make him literally gag, but he's pretty open-minded so far :).

Ryan is the happiest, sweetest baby! He laughs at everything, sleeps for about an 8 hour stretch at night before wanting to be nursed, then goes straight back to sleep. He rolls all over the floor, moves around like crazy, and gets into all kinds of mischief. What a true delight he is. I still breastfeed only - have tried a bottle but he wants no part of it. I truly don't mind as I know he is my last baby and I enjoy every second of it.

How are you doing with your workouts? I have been so sporadic and I'm getting frustrated. With no regular routine, I'm not seeing any progress. I still want to lose about 8 lbs and firm up alot, so need to make more time for my workouts. With my 4 kids and working from home, time (or lack thereof) is a definite factor. Oh well, I am so fortunate to have my wonderful family and be able to work from home.

Please keep in touch, Kaz. I really enjoy hearing from you. Do you want to chat via email?

Take care!
Sandi

Max

Hi Kaz,

Haven't been here in ages since starting work a month ago. Just thought I'd report re. Max.

He continues to thrive, is on 3 solid meals a day and loves his nursery. I'm back at work full time and it's challenging but manageable if I've slept. Max continues to be easy-going - sleeps 12 hours a night and only cries when tired or hungry. I couldn't have wished for a more placid baby. I have no idea what he weighs now as I haven't had a chance to take him to baby clinic for a weigh since being back at work.

I'll try to attach a picture of him here now!

Here's a link - hope it works:-

RE: Max

Hi Fitnik!

Just checked back here and saw your message - good to read your post!

I couldn't get your picture of Max on my screen - don't know why?

Great to hear your little Max is still so easy-going. Is he going to a daycare or do you have family to care for him during the day? I bet you're enjoying every moment with him! I know I could just snuggle and stare at Ryan all day. He is so mobile already it's amazing. So sweet and precious!

Take Care!

RE: Max

Hi Sandy & Ryan, and Fitnik & Max!

Great to hear from you! I've just come back from holiday, so apologies for the delay in my reply!

Fitnik - thank you so much for sending me the photos of Max - he is GORGEOUS! He really looks like a proper little boy now doesn't he? I'm glad to hear that you are coping ok at work (albeit very tiring, I'm sure - I only do three days a week and believe me, that is enough!!). I will send you a more detailed PM the first chance I get!

Sandy - Ryan sounds like a little gem - and the apple of your eye, no doubt! Do you think there is something about little boys having sweet temperaments??!! I know what you mean about finding exercise difficult to fit in - and I only have one child to look after at the mo! I haven't done any "formal" exercise for over 3 weeks now - although carrying Dan around and all the daily activities that go with looking after him mean I am certainly not idle!!;-)
Dan is really starting to look like a a little boy now and is starting to lose that real "baby look". Whilst I am excited to see him grow and watch him develop, part of me is a little sad - I guess I just want to keep him as my little baby forever, Lol! Does that sound silly?? He's nearly 7 months now, and still not quite sitting unaided. He is rolling over and over, though, and is very strong - believe me, I know, having been on the receiving end of some of his wayward kicks and punches, Lol!! Is baby Ryan moving around, sitting, etc yet?
Sandy, I would love to hear from you - if you want to email me privately my email address is [email protected]

Take care all!
Love Kaz xx

RE: Max

Hello again Kaz!

Hope you had a wonderful holiday. Did you get away camping or did you actually "get away" to another part of the world? We are going to be away much of August (within the province, visiting my Grandma at the beach for 2 weeks, then to Whistler for a week - how absolutely decadent to be away for so long!).

You likely have heard that the 2010 Olympic games were awarded to our city. They will be held in Whistler - about 1.5 hours drive from here - almost our back yard. It will be interesting to see how it changes our city.

Anyway, your baby Dan sounds fabulous. Baby Ryan is sitting for a few minutes at a time, and has been rolling like a top for about a month and a half now. He just loves to get around. He is very flexible and has his arms straightened when on his tummy, looking around and moving as if to sit down - but he isn't too comfortable with that yet. He loves life and loves to watch and laugh as his sisters and brother entertain him. What a precious joy he is. And I totally understand when you say you don't want him to leave babyhood yet. I agree completely! This age is so precious! My youngest daughter (8) keeps saying, "He is so cute, I just wish he could be a baby forever!" and, knowing how fast they grow up, I agree! Although each stage is better than the last because you are just in awe of what they can do and how cute they are.

I will send you a private email because I would very much like to keep in touch with you. I was thinking we could provide encouragement with our workouts and keep in touch about our babies and ourselves.

Take care!
Sandi
