Calling all Weight Watchers' .....

I was wondering any of you Weight Watchers' out there - if you workout the day of your weigh-ins??? I was told by some of the WW members in my meeting that that would hinder what the scale says for the worse??? Is this true? What have some of you been doing regarding this?

Thanks, Marcia :)

As far as I am concerned, what difference does it make? if you are true to yourself it shouldn't matter, you won't be holding water if thats what you think. I workout every weigh in and it doesn't seem to matter, now if I overindulge before that is a different story.

OMG ... you're kidding, right? They told you that???? What on earth is the physiological basis for that???? You don't build muscle (and hence "gain weight"!) in a one hour workout. I'm sure the personal trainers and other fitness experts on here will back me up on this one. Water weight, from drinking during a workout? Go to the bathroom first - LOL! Sorry ... but that will take care of it. I workout the day of my WI, but I WI at home, first thing Monday morning, after I've used the "facilities", and stark naked, if you must know (LOL!!) If I went to meetings to WI, I would probably wear the same clothes, eat the same thing, stuff like that, to make it as consistent as possible, but the scale can fluctuate hour to hour from almost ANYTHING. Water, hormones, salt, dust I think - LOL! Seriously though, I would ask them what the basis for this statement is. And, if the meetings are anything like the 40's board online, there are WAY too many people out there who will do anything to NOT workout. Sad ... which is why I'm staying away from those message boards from now on ... can you tell it frustrates me beyond belief???? LOL!!

Hi Everyone!

I'm so excited to almost be at my goal thanks to Weight Watchers - only 5 pounds to go!

But I guess I'm in the minority here because over the years - even before WW - I got in the habit of never weighing myself the morning after a workout (I workout in the late afternoons) because for some reason I always weighed more. Usually it was only a pound, but if I waited until the morning after a "rest" day, I weighed less. Never could figure it out, but when you're looking for that scale to go down, you sure don't want to see it going the other way LOL!

My WI's are on Wednesday mornings and I've always worked out before I start a routine.
I've never had a problem nor has it hindered my WI :)

You would be surprised about what some people think is necessary before an "official" weigh in. I once watched a weight loss board debate the need to completely exhale before stepping on the scale!! The consensus was YES, you do, indeed, need to completely exhale when stepping on the scale. I still don't understand that one.

Okay .. I got a little curious, so I just tried it. I weighed myself with as full a breath as I could hold, then I weighed myself again after exhaling as completely as I possibly could. The difference? ..... (drum roll, please! }( ....

NOTHING.

Carol
:) (just feeling silly this evening!!)

P.S. I suppose you could conceivably argue that air has mass and therefore weight (which it does of course), but I don't believe most humans have the lung capacity to hold so much air mass that it would affect the scale. :)

Too funny, Carol - :) :)

But, ya know, last night when I weighed-in I thought about that and started laughing. So, of course, I had to explain to my leader why I was laughing and she joined me. :)

And by the way - I lost 1.8 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yippee....Marcia

WOO HOO!!!!!!!!! WTG, Marcia!!!!!! You're doing GREAT!!!

Carol
:)

P.S. how about if we step turn, hop step, ricochet over the scale, and then do a few squats before we weigh-in? Think that will help??? LOL!!! :D Think I ought to post THAT on the WW message boards??? OH ... me bad ... sorry ... couldn't resist!! }( }( }(

DO IT! Go on the board and tell them that, I bet that some will actually try it and they'll tell you it worked!!! :7 :7 :7

Too funny.......Marcia
