Calling all runners - injury related

Dear runners,

I seem to have a problem with the area above my ankle, both on the inside and outside of my leg. It doesn't feel like shin splints, have had those. It doesn't even really hurt as in "ouch", but it feels like while running that bit of my leg is too weak to carry my weight. Don't know how else to describe it. It makes running very uncomfortable. Today the first 3K my leg was fine, than it suddenly started. It's gone within an hour after my run and it doesn't bother me at all when doing strength workouts for my legs. I've been having this for the past three runs now.

I only have a certain amount of PT treatments per year, so I thought I ask advice here first.

It also feels like that part of my leg could do with a good stretch, but I don't know any that particularly stretch that part. I do know a stretch for the outside area above the ankle.

Any advice or stretches?

Thanks,
Dutchie :)

Hi Dutchie....don't think it would be shinsplints. Not sure what it would be?...I had some pain right on top of my foot near my ankle and luckily my nephew who is a chiropractor adjusted it and it was alot better. You could try the Runner's World forums on www.runnersworld.com they have an injury forum and are fairly fast at getting back to you...my other suggestion is to ice the area a couple of times a day for about 15 min.....:)...Carole

Don't you just hate vague injuries like this one? I hope it isn't some sort of stress fracture...I'm just thinking out loud here.

Please let us know as soon as you find out. Take care~deb:)
