Callanetics vs.

Fitness-Mom

Cathlete
We must be twins. When I got home, the package I got from amazon containing The Bar Method and Super Callanetics had been delivered. I watched SC and tried some of the moves. Then I viewed the Bar Method. Burr Leonard studied under Lotte Berk. It looks more doable than SC. That may be because I didn't watch the class exercise in SC and Burr Leonard has really good cueing. I plan on using the Bar Method's Designer Sculpting dvd as soon as I'm done posting this reply. I'm going to use a chair for balance since my Fluidity bar should be here tommorrow.

You know, since we live close enough. You're more than welcome to borrow one of my Bar Method dvds. I have a feeling that once my Fluidity bar arrives, I'll be busy with that for awhile. I have the Bar Method's Designer Sculpting and Fat Free dvds. They look almost identical to me since I haven't tried them both yet.

Well, I did the Designer Scuplting dvd of the Bar Method, as well as the bonus leg/seat segment. I could feel the burn! I'm not sore now. Maybe I will be tommorrow. I really do like Burr's cueing and pointers on form. However, I think she talks too much between each exercise change. I probably feel this way because she directs you into the initial position and then keeps talking instead of getting on with it! After I get better at it, I think I'll write down the exercise and number of reps. and just do it without the dvd.

I'm not sure how much of a departure Burr is from Lotte. I don't have any Lotte Berk dvds. From my understanding, Callan Pinckney also studied under Lotte Berk. Yet, SC and The Bar Method each have a different feel. Maybe it's the set and clothes! LOL

I'm in Pottstown. I'll try to figure out how to PM you with my phone number. If not, I'll post my email.

Good night!

LOL - I agree! My sister and I just bought these DVD's two weeks ago (we are sharing them - I get them for two weeks and then she does). I am tired from standing in the inital position before LB even does her first rep!

I am curious - how long is the bonus segment? (I didn't do it, and I'd check on the DVD myself by my sister has them now...)

Thanks!

The bonus sections in the Lotte Berks and Bar Methods are 10 min. which makes it great to just add on to a strength leg workout.

I agree that Callanetics can be a bit boring, but I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the results. My body gets incredibly tight when I use it regularly. I find it kind of relaxing. I put on my own music and just use it as a time to unwind.

Ciddy,

Have you done any of the Bar Method dvds? I really enjoy doing the Bar Method more than Super Callanetics. But, I'm wondering if it would give the same results. Callan seems to have you hold a position for 100 seconds with breathers taken if you need it. Oh, I find it a bit freaky how she watches two people perform the moves and comments on their form instead of doing the moves with them. I'm going to hold on it SC for a couple of months. If I don't end up using it or tolerating it by then, onto to ebay it will go! :)

I do like the Bar Method as well and I love High Round Assets from the Lotte Berk workouts, but Callanetics remains by far my favorite as far as results. It's the absolute toughest of the three and Super Callanetics is much harder than the original Callanetics workout. I didn't like the original Callanetics as much. It seemed a lot slower (if you can imagine) than SC. I also bought one of her books from Amazon to make sure I was doing the exercises correctly and it has helped greatly in perfecting my form. SC does great things for my figure when I work it into my routine regularly. So the workout...not so exciting to do...the results....extremely exciting (for me anyway).:)
