I just ordered the accu measure caliper for $19.99. I already have the Omron Body Fat Analyzer so I can't wait to compare my results so I know my exact body fat once and for all!
Caliper testing is one of the most accurate ways to measure your body fat. Just make sure you know exactly where and how to test and how to interpret the results. If you need confirmation, see a personal trainer. BMI does not distinguish between fat mass and muscle mass which is why many muscular but fit people fall into the overweight category. Good luck!! I keep saying I should do this one of these days but I'm not sure I want to know the results. I have scale-phobia as well!!
Charlotte, my experience with omron is that it's all over the places. The caliper seems a lot more accurate also a lot more straight forward. No fancy "settings" etc., just pinch your fat on the given spots and see if it is less or more than it was a week ago. I've read in the Leaness Lyfestyle that if your body fat is rather low then the caliper is really very accurate. It is not so accurate when you have a lot of bodyfat -- I guess it is harder the pinch. Mari
I have a question...Ok so lets say someone has extra skin. Is that fat or will it be measured as fat with the caliper? I weigh 127-132 dependin on the day I use to weuh 65 years ago and I have loose skin so I just wondered how that gets factored in. I have wanted to know my body fat for awhile now. TIA!
That is a good question. I am sure I will get a booklet with the caliper so I will know how to work it correctly. I have had two children so I know I got alittle extra skin around the belly.
Unfortunately it is factored in. The caliper will measure the skin that it "pinches". The 3 sites where women are measured are the midpoint of the triceps, the midpoint of the outer thigh, and the suprailium which is about two fingers above the hipbone.

I weigh 235, and have been trying to help myself lose weight for months, then I saw kathy's show on tv, but i need to help keep myself motivated, any ideas, kathy looks SOOOO good.
I knew something was really "off" because it said "I really need something to help keep me motivated"...yeah...right...like you ever need a push!LOL!!!! Not to mention, your far from 235!
