Cabs n' abs ---> Tuesday pump it!

Morning, girls! :)

Gotta make this quick, I’m getting behind.

Wendy ~ yeah, it is definitely hard to get into the walk mentality, but I know that is what I need to do to run this safely. I have it sort of worked out at this point based upon what I’ve seen in the two books and the cheetah suggestions.

Laura ~ glad you enjoyed some time off…sorry about the burn…I swear by thick Nivea crème to get the burn out…re: PIA…I’ve worked with people like that, whose shenanigans never seemed to catch up with them…honestly, I think you just spin your wheels and waste energy when you allow yourself to get upset by what other people are--or aren’t—doing. I learned to let it go unless it affects me directly.

Di ~ I’ve tweaked the schedule to give me my Monday rest day back. :) I heard from another cheetah that Chicago is closed to the public. The website doesn’t reflect that, but it shows 37,000+ on the books. Add the charity groups into it, and I think that would put it at 44. If there is still a shot, today might be it.

Ange ~ sorry you had a rough day…I’ll send ya some Ziggy vibes for today. :) My standard runs are usually 3 miles...the long run this week will be 5.

OK, gotta jet here. Today will be a run.

Good Morning Cabbers. :)

Today is a rest day for me and it's just as well. I am tired from going to bed too late last night and I have to have myself and DS ready to jet at 4:30 when DH gets home. It's dinner at MIL's tonight and our goal every time we go is to hit as little traffic as possible so we try to leave ASAP.

Ang: Sorry about the lunch mix up. It stinks when you are in the mood for a certain food and then you end up not being able to have it. Hope today's lunch is yummier. :)

Cathy: What's nice is that you will have time to tweak your walk/run ratio. As you get into the longer runs, if you find the ratio isn't working for you, you can play with it. I was prepared to up my walking when I trained for my half but thankfully I found that I didn't need to. ITA with your decision to NOT run the full mary distance in training. I would say 20 miles is enough. That's what I've heard anyway and I believe it. I trained up to 10 miles for my half and that was plenty. The only reason the last 3 miles of my half were brutal was because of the cramping. If not for that, I'd have been home free!

Off to plan my work outs for the week. I'm lovin' the work out freedom I've allowed myself. I am going to play NROL by ear. I am supposed to start it once I am recovered from my half but I may push it off a while longer. :p

Happy Tuesday morning buddies:)

I decided to steel an extra hour of sleep this morning, although not exactly uninterrupted. The boys were extra noisy this morning and DH called and needed a phone number. But still, and extra hour was needed. I'm still DOM filled in the quads and now I have DOMs in the chest to match.x( I forgot about the quads until I needed to go to the BR. Sitting down is a challenge, getting up no problem.:7 I'm kicking around doing a rest day today but since it is my day off and I know I will not be able to w/o on Friday, I would like to delay it until then. Maybe a step w/o like SB or something might sound good later. I'll have to play it by ear.

Whew! I have lots of clean/laundrymax to do today. DH and I head off for a convention on Thursday afternoon but return way too early on Saturday. Oh well, we'll shove lots of fun in 2 days. Hopefully I'll go off with the girls and go shopping. I'm thinking it would be a great time to look for a garmin and running shorts - maybe even an ipod. I also need to get the packig done today. I've got the CABs sitting out on the counter so as NOT to forget the important stuff.http://smileys.on-my-web.com/repository/Drinks/drinking-29.gif DH drinks beer so we'll pack a cooler for him right before we leave.

Cathy - Thanks for the ziggy vibes girl. I think I have shaken off the bad mojo of yesterday. I was a grump all day.:( It was a lot like nasty PMS but I think it may have been due to overtraining. My bod is used to Sunday being a rest day and that run was not expected. *lol*
I'm looking for a garmin I found on-line that looks lke the polar. It's the cheapest one I could find at $100 and it looks like it'll do what I need. Which one do you have?

Wendy - What would you do differently to get over the cramping? Do you have another run coming up?
Did GH keep you up again?
Enjoy your w/o today, whatever you decide on.

Hi Laura and Di....I left notes for you all last night. Hope you are having a groovin' Tuesday.

Hello Ladies .. I am late checking in today .. PIA laid out of work again!!!   Unbelievable! So I am on the counter .. and we have rep meetings today and tommorrow .. really short handed!! this time she put the boss out . . wonder if he will "handle it" now!:)

Cathy .. I know I really should not let it get to me .. it makes me insane ... I guess I am all about "fairness" .. and "equality" .. and she is the complete opposite of it ... and it gets to me even though I should do as you said .. and let it roll off my back ... I tried ignoring it/her .. but it is so blatant in your face bad behavior it is hard to avoid it .. know what I mean?? Gonna have to take up meditation at my desk to get rid of the bad mojo!! one positive .. it is putting more kick@$$ into my workouts .. LOL!!!}(

Wendy ... I think I need to check out yours and Cathy's Cheetah forum and get some tips on running .. I run .. but it is never scheduled .. never constant .. never w/any goals ... and it is fit in whereever ane whenever I can manage it .. LOL .. but a "plan" certainly would benefit me!!

Angie ... mushroom hunting sounds fun .. I LOVE shrooms .. would not dare eat the ones in our woods .. my luck I might end up on a psychodellic trip!!! LOL .. no BL show tonight .. will get to see DWTS results tonight w/o interruption .. unless the dang political crap interrupts it ..

Di ... have you had your meltdown finale party ?? When does the bootcamp start?? How fun .. I know you are waiting on pins and needles!!

OK .. had a co-worker come to my class last night .. she was cracking me up .. said I was killing her .. LOL .. she did fairly well for a newbie .. some stuff she could not do .. but she did good. She said she is sore in her abs, back, legs and butt .. hate to say by this afternoon she will be worse!! LOL .. and tonight is 4 step plank/push up/ plyo torture class  }( poor thing .. she is gonna hate me!! LOL

OK .. it has taken me a while to write this better run .. have a great day and great sweaty workouts ... I know I will!!

Hi girls! :7

Wendy ~ Yeah, my long runs for the half were 9-10 milers, so I will likely shoot for the same range with the full—probably 20-22. Just have to get used to the idea of more frequent walk breaks. It’s kind of foreign to the way I’ve always trained in the past. But at any rate, I’m not concerned—as I make my tweaks, it’ll be great to be able to bounce things off the experienced marathoners among our group, and not just go by what I'm reading in a book!…enjoy dinner & your rest night!

Angie ~ how are those DOMS, lady? So, what’s the convention you’ll be attending? Shopping sounds like a good deal! :) I have the 305. I started with the 201 but am very pleased with the upgrade. It has an HRM, so if that is something you track, you may want to consider a higher model. It is going for $214 on Amazon right now.

Laur ~ believe me, I understand—I truly do. But for me personally, I just reached a point where I realized I was getting worked up over things beyond my control or that I just didn’t need to concern myself with. I just let it reflect poorly on them, go about my business, and let karma do its job. However, if whatever someone is doing steps on my toes, well, then that’s a different story. But in all the eclectic jobs I’ve had since HS as well as the two serious careers, I have learned that there is always going to be dead weight, someone who works the system, and my life is just more peaceful if I do what I need to do and forget the rest. In your case, I think I might take action because it sounds like you are continually getting stiffed as a result of her negligence.

Di ~ just a more official update – I did get an email from the Chicago folks that the race is about to close. Not trying to be pesky, but just an FYI since I'm not sure how on the bubble you are.

OK, ladies, the clouds have darkened up out there, and it looks like a storm's comin', so it may mean the TM or the KBs. Hmmmm...let me tune into the weather and make a decision here.

Have a great night!

Hey girls

I ended up not working out today.:( I just HAD to make it a rest day since my legs were still fried and tomorrow is upper body. I thought I'd better listen to the ole' bod and give it a break. Actually, it was due since I haven't had one since last Sunday. I wanted to postpone it until Friday but my body didn't agree with MY plan. We still went for our nightly walk though so it wasn't a complete bust. I also got my to-do list done, except for the garage. After all the laundry, vacuuming, packing, and cleaning I did, I just didn't have the "umph" to do the garage too.

Cathy - Thanks for the tip on the garmin. I checked it out on walmart's site and they have the same price so I'll have to stop in there and check it out. Do you strap the unit to your arm or waist? It looks too big to strap to the wrist.
WTG on the run. Glad the weather held off for you. It looks like it's trying to rain here too, but it's not doing too much yet. I hope we get some rain though b/c it would really get those mushrooms to pop out.
DH and I have a Timbermens convention to go to. We usually just party down with some of our friends that we don't get to see very often. Although, this year, I'm sure it will be a bit subdued b/c the industry is really huring right now. But, we're going to have fun in spite of it!!

Laura - You'd most certainly be killin' me with that w/o today! Hope you're class is ready for you.
so what ya watchin' tonight? I'm not a DWTS fan, so I've got SNL on. OMG Chris Farley was sooooo funny! I really should turn the TV off and open a book!

Well, tomorrow I take the computer in. I hope it's a painless process but unfortunately I won't know until Monday if all went well. I doubt I will get there early enough Saturday to pick it up before they close.
I've babbled on enough......chat with you girls tomorrow.

Hi Ladies,

I know it's late but it's the only chance I've had all day long to check in. I was up plenty early, but didn't have the energy to workout until after a couple cups of coffee. Well by then I was running short on time-I put in KPC and did 25 minutes. I figured it was better than nothing.

Tomorrow is P90X legs & back, and a lunchtime run if possible. I had such a great run last week I'm really looking forward to another run.

Tonight-I put a pan with grease on the stove to make french fries and went to feed a baby.... Needless to say-the whole house filled up with smoke and I had to take the smoky pan outside. OMG the house smelled terrible and we had to open all the doors and windows and get fans going etc. Thankfully I didn't burn the house down and got the smoke out before our very loud smoke detectors went off. There's a reason I don't cook!

I just started ordering more milk from the dairy and poor Jerod dropped the whole bottle on the kitchen floor and shattered it. To make matters worse, his bike was stolen from the bike rack at school. He said it wasn't locked which made me even more mad. Of course, then I had the incident with the smoke filled house. It's just not my day.

Cathy-Nice job getting your run in before the rain came. I went to the CM site and the registration is still open, I'm just not ready to commit. I have to put my feet in an ice bath after running a HM and it still takes several days for my feet to feel better. I am running a 10k on memorial weekend. I know that's nothing compared to a full mary but it's one I really enjoy running. When I was training for my half my longest run was 12 miles.

Wendy-Hope you enjoyed your rest day and dinner! So when are you starting BBC? I think this mix of P90x and cardio is just the change of pace I needed. I'm will also be adding running to the mix

Laura-I'm sorry you have to deal with PIA. IA with Cathy-if her lack of performance is causing you more work because she's not carrying her share-you might what to say something. Sorry about the sunburn. I'm a red head and burn fairly easily so I've learned to love sunscreen. My roadtrip will be to come visit you and take your classes. OMG, the pics of the gators!

Angie-bodyglide can be found at most sporting good stores. It's in a deoderant like container and can put it on your inner thights, around your bra straps or anywhere you might chaffe. I'm also looking into the garmin 305. I think it would work great for us. It has the chest strap and hr monitor as well as distance, pace etc. I'm also going to try to get into the second RT. I would love to meet you there. We would get to meet Wendy and Cathy in person too:) I get so hyped up about the RT and then so mad when I don't get in. I'm going to try anyway.

Have a great night ladies.

Diana

YIKES Diana, Sorry about your horrid day! (((HUGS))) being sent your way. I hate days like that. :-(

I am supposed to start BBC tomorrow but that may not happen now. I feel like I might be getting sick AND I am up at this ridiculous hour because I am having trouble sleeping tonight. Between the 2, who knows what I'll feel like tomorrow. I'll have to play this one by ear I guess.

Back to bed with me to see if I can get some shut eye now....

Good night girls.
