Cabs and Abs Super Saturday!

Good Morning Cabbers!

It's 4DS Shoulder Core and Calves for me today. Not sure I want to take on LIS. I'd really like to get a run in but that may not happen so it's lookin' like an All Step day. That's ok. I like that one. For the longest time I couldn't do it but it FINALLY clicked and now I really enjoy it. :)

I can feel the DOMS in my back coming on. I even had DOMS in my legs from the leg work out the other day and I went light! Kinda scares to me think of how I'll feel once I heavy up! The DOMS may have been from doing the work out on pre-exhausted legs though as I'm not sure how long it actually takes for them to recover from an HM.

Cathy: I guess you enjoyed happy hour last night as you never made it back here!;)

BBL.

Hey girls!

http://www.millan.net/minimations/smileys/goodsigh2.gif

I can’t tell you how happy I am it’s the weekend. Well, I guess I just did. :7 It is good to just BREATHE.

Wendy :: Broad Street is usually early in May…Dec. 1st sounds good for the X. I’m in for the earlier start time…Sorry ‘bout the late night…That always fouls me up the next day…Funny, I’m the opposite – my calves are pretty strong, but my shoulders are the weakest…I think you’ll do great with the 15K. It’ll be a good challenge to go off-road. Do you have any trails near you that you can do some training runs on?

Di :: Sorry those late nights caught up with you. I don’t do well when that happens. I’m the kind of person that really needs a *minimum* of 7 hours to function properly. When that gets messed up, look out! *lol*

Angie :: nope, I would definitely not call these arms of steel. (See Wendy for that.) *lol* It’s possible that I felt that way b/c I received Squeeze when I was still doing the X. I’m gonna do u/b this weekend and see if I still feel the same…How was your hang with BF last night? Mmm, crab legs. I have been doing TERRIBLY food-wise since earlier in the week. I completely fudged up my diet and probably gained this week. Grrrr! But I’ll cut myself some slack ~ it’s been, ohhh, the worst week of my career. *lol*

Laura :: Great to hear that BBQ fundraiser was a huge success! Did you see my question: I was wondering where do you sell all these plates? Is your company that big or do you open it to the public?…I’m definitely not under the constant stress that you are, but yes, it has indeed been rough! So, I’ll tip my CAB light on that one.

Has anyone heard from Nancy?

Cathy:

The HM I told you about is in the beginning of May as well. No biggie though. May is so far away that anything could happen at this point. :7 K, I'll have to write in a big "X" on Dec 1 on my Cathe calender so that I don't conveniently forget that I plan to torture myself starting that day!:p I can always go to the park I trained for my HM at. They have dirt trails as well as the pavement I ran on for the HM. In fact, the first race I ran over Labor day weekend was in that park and the course was mostly dirt, grass and trails and talk about HILLS! There were a goodly amount and some of them were STEEP STEEP STEEP so perhaps that will be a good course to train on. It's only 5k but perhaps if I take it slow I can do it 2x in a row. I'll see!}(

OK, I'll keep it in mind, but I don't really know where I'll be in terms of my training then. Not to keep repeating myself, but I really just can't see myself getting back into more frequent races until I get closer to goal weight. I think I have seen some progress the last few weeks as my weight has dropped down a bit, but the extra baggage definitely slows me down and I'd rather not have slower race times to discourage me. Don't know if that makes sense.

I would actually take the slower race times as ENCOURAGEMENT to improve for next time but that's just my take on it. I can understand how it would be a downer in some regards though.
If you aren't up for the half it's totally okay. It was just a suggestion as I think it would be fun for us to do it together. Especially since we seem to run at a very close pace. I only want you to do what you are comfortable doing or what you WANT to do. An HM is not something to do "for the heck of it"! LOL It would also be kinda cool if the 10 miler you are considering happened on the same day as the half (assuming I do it!)! Don't ya think? :)

Oh, I don't feel like you've pressured me at all. I'm glad you suggested it...but I'm going to remain "on the bubble" for now. I definitely would love to do a race (or races!) with you in the future, and I do plan to eventually go back to running them more frequently, in general. I have done only two races since returning to running in '06 (after a long hiatus!) and I do not AT ALL regret doing them, but they were, on some level, a frustrating reminder of how much I let myself go by packing on the extra weight. That's why I decided to just focus on enjoying my running and losing the fat for awhile. It is hard enough to go backwards without having a race time to remind you of that.

ETA: I would like to think by May I should be able to shed this last 15 or so.

I completely understand. I am just glad you are back to enjoying running again.

The weight will come off...slow and steady...that's the only way!

I'm back. Did 4DS C&B and put in 3 easy miles in a light rain. Feelin' good. Now I'm off to shower and head out for a hair cut.

Wendy :: The first few months that I returned to running were TOUGH (I was 30 lbs. or so heavier than I am now!), but it didn't take long for that endorphin rush to resurge. There's just nothin' like it. Diana talked about how nothing kept the weight off like running. Well, that was true for me, too ~ I was in the best shape of my life thanks to running...but it's also more than that...I truly relish the mental release of running. It's just the best. :) :) :)

Hi Cathy.

Nice job having your work out done early. I can't do mine until nap time today. Oh well, such is the life of a mom!;)

You talked after my race about loving running because it's not choreographed so you don't have to THINK about it. That is so true! I love Cathe's work outs but when I just want to enjoy a cardio work out and not have to think about it, running is the best! I have definately seen changes in my body since taking up running that I don't think would have occurred w/o it so ITA about it being the best fat-burner out there. If I had a TM in my house I would do Cathe's new weight routines with only running but to do a short run at the gym almost every day is just not feasable for me. It's also not feasable for me to run outside every day. I can't handle the jogging stroller thing and to go out every day after DH gets home from work isn't going to happen either. Oh well. Perhaps one day I'll get that bigger house and that treadmill! }(

Morning girls

Apparently this bug that has a hold of my throat doesn't know that I DONT GET SICK! Had a great time with BF last night. We went and had crab legs and then went to Kohls. We probably should've went to Kohls first.:D I didn't buy anything, but I did try on some pants to see if I had gone down in sizes and I am happy to report that I am now a comfortable size 10! Now, I am super motivated to get to a single digit size, which I haven't been since high school....maybe even before. The Cathy/X rotation IS effective.
So, all was great and then I totally lost my voice on the ride home.:( I told BF that the boys will be thrilled!
Cody had a basketball game last night (his first one) and he made a basket. He is so proud! His first shot went way over the basket and bounced into the cables that hold up the basket. So, I was glad that he was able to make a shot. I'm gonna love basketball season...really good game, and they won too. :)
So, anyways last night I, like an idiot, took a mucinex before bed to get rid of the phlegm. Ummmmm....that was a stupid move. I did it so I could actually breathe, but a few hours later I was like the mucus monster.
vomit.gif
Yup, not pretty. I got rid of most of it this morning thankfully and the coffee has helped the throat. Luckily I don't have much going on this weekend so I'm just gonna veg and hope this thing runs it's coarse.
OK....I need you all to help me out here. Diana sent me CTX Cardio kicks and Kickbox, which are both new for me. Which one is the most fun? I'm plannin on doing one of those either today or tomorrow. Yesterday was S&H legs but I should've done LL, since that is also a new one for me. I'm gonna do that one next week on my leg day.:)

Cathy - Is your problem at work with a student, co-worker, or administration? Sorry it has been such a stressful week for you. It must be something in the air.
I wish I could've taken you and my fellow cabbers with me last night. The king crab, and french fries, and homemade chicken soup, and banana pudding, and...... well, other stuff was delish.:9 I was buyin' too! But, I took in 3000 calories yesterday after the day was over. Oh, well....I'm fightin' the phlegm monster....that takes extra energy right??
Did you lose any weight with the X last time?
I emailed Nancy last week just to touch base. She is still having a rough time. I told her we were all still thinking of her and to join us anytime. She says she lurks but still feels like she doesn't really have anything to add. I really hope things turn around for her soon.

Wendy - I like how you danced around HIS yesterday...LOL. Looks like a CTX for me this weekend too.....now that I have them all (thank you Diana) I plan on using them more in my rotations. All step is one of my favs too b/c that was my 1st Cathe w/o. I wanted to throw something at the TV too...it must've took me a week or better to get that one down. She'd say "I didn't break this down b/c I know you know them"....and I was like WHAT?????? LOL
I chuckled when I read that your house is either clean or a mess. I can sooooo relate. With the monsters it's usually the latter. When I left the house yesterday for the game, it was clean....when I got home at 10:30...it was a mess. I guess that's the price I have to pay for a night out with BF......it was worth it!

Laura - How was margaritaville?
You should feel so proud of yourself for raising all that $$$$. It's people like you that make this world a better place to live.
*lol* about the student not showing up for your class with a videocamera. I'm sure you can trick them.....you are a crafty girl.;-)
Have a blast this weekend rooting on your team!

Hi Diana & Nancy......I'll BBL to see what you are doing this weekend.

Angie

OMG - I just sat here and watched L&G on FitTV and it looks killer.}( Do you all do the whole thing at once??? It looks like a jello leg w/o for sure. I can definitely see myself cussing at Cathe on that one!

Where'd ya all go????

Angie

Hi girls!

Got a haircut and blowout, but because of the rain and humidity, it sorta went frizzy. Stopped at a Halloween store afterward and picked up a (ridiculously overpriced) costume ~ Tippi Hedren getting attacked by birds. I’m going to wear it to school on Halloween since my kids just finished reading the story and will be acting out skits of that and “The Monkey’s Paw.” They’re going to bust a gut when they see this!!! I also treated myself to two new sweaters from Ann Taylor. Nothing like retail therapy to boost one’s mood. And drain one's bank account. When I got home, I had a fruit bouquet waiting for me from some friends at work. I couldn’t believe it. What a nice gesture!

So, I nibbled on some fruit, but then moved on to chips and salsa!!!!!!!!! The feeding frenzy continues...

Wendy :: Exactly! I love getting “lost” out on a run…No thought necessary, just put one foot in front of the other. It just does so much for the body and mind.

Angie :: *lol* about needing to go to Kohl’s before the crab legs…Oh man, I love seafood! Your whole dinner last night is making me drool…Congrats on the smaller size!…It is such a good feeling, isn’t it?…How’s the throat?…I like CTX k’box best…I have only done CK once. Forget Circus Max. That one was not for me!…I CANNOT WAIT until you do LL…What a FRYER! I love it!! That is AWESOME of Di to give those to you…My problem is with a parent and it now involves the admin, the board, the media…See The Golden Compass thread and you can probably figure out my situation…thanks for the update on Nancy. I’m sorry things are still not good and she doesn’t feel up to posting...I have done L&G in it entirety, but after one of the cheetahs recommended the KPC/L&G premixes, I tend to gravitate toward those.

Nancy :: in case you’re reading this, ((((HUGS))))…we miss you and think of you and hope things get better at your end. Would you care to join in a round of the X starting in December?

Diana :: where are you today? :)

Hi Cathy - Retail therapy!:) I'd love to see a pic of your costume when you get it on! I'm not familiar with the books you are talking about, but I'll bet your students will think you are a hoot.
How nice to have a fruit bouquet waiting for you...awwwwwwww...doesn't it make you feel so good?
Yes - I couldn't be happier about the smaller size....I was a 16 at this time last year so I'm super happy. I'm hoping that I'm not quite done yet, but I'm close to where I want to be. I really should do some new measurements and pics along my journey.
The throat actually doesn't feel bad....I just have NO voice. LOL I was draggin' butt just a little while ago....but I feel better now. I'm gonna go down and attempt CTX K'box....thanks for the suggestion.:) I have done CM a few times but it's not one of my favs. I don't hear a whole lotta talk about LL....do you do that one a lot? Is it gonna make me wanna cry??? I think I would be definitely doing L&G as part of a premix. I'm not sure I could get thru the whole thing.
I took a peek at the GC thread.....sounds like you might be in the middle of a religious mess. So sorry.:-( That's gotta be tough, especially since everyone has such an ingrained opinion regarding religion.

OK.....off to drag my butt downstairs and push play and see what happens.

Angie

Hey, girl! I will definitely post a pic. It's funny b/c the costume is "one size fits most" and says it will fit sizes 6-12. (Now THERE'S a leap!) I tried on the dress - it is that clingy material, and uh, it clings a little TOO much to my thighs. I hate how those costumes are SO expensive but such CHEAP quality! Anywho, I'm gonna have to check out the super-duper-gut-bustin' girdle aisle or modify it somehow...Yes, the fruit basket was such a sweet gesture. I am so touched. For every beatdown you take at the hands of some jerk, there are half a dozen who come around and blow you away with their kindness...Hope you like CTX KB. I love LL and did it a lot during my lower body rotation...I haven't done it in a few weeks now, though, and have been missing it. Great, GREAT leg w/out in 1/2 an hour's time. It does get ya good...Not a religious issue. But it involves a book. That's all I can say. Sorry to act like Secret Squirrel about it. :( You were a size 16 this time last year??? No way! You look SO slim in the pics you posted.

Hey back at ya!http://smileys.on-my-web.com/repository/Winks/winking-pumpkin.gif

CTX KB was just what I needed! Thanks Diana and Cathy....I feel so much better now.:) My original plan was to also add on Great Body Abs but since Cathe added on her own ab section, I decided to nix that. For a KB workout, it really wasn't too bad. I felt safe doing all the moves except for that revese punch which I'm thinking could possibly cause an injury.....but I did it anyways. My arms are already feelin a mild burn so I wonder what I'll be in for tomorrow.

Cathy - *lol* about 6-12 being a leap! Yes, I would definitely have to agree. Do you have a nylon slip or something like that, that you could wear underneath so it doesn't cling too much??
I just looked at my plan for next week and it's my "recovery" week so there is no leg workout.:( I'm gonna have to wait a while before I try LL, but now I'm really looking forward to it.
I didn't mean to press you about the issue at work. There was a parent last year who demanded that all PDA's get banned since the word "hell" was in the dictionary on it (rolls eyes). I think that is so stupid. I'm thinking what in the world is gonna happen when her kids get out in the real world and get introduced to it then? Anyways.....I'm sure dealing with parents can really be....a challenge.}(
About the pics.....did ya SEE the before pics??? Yup - a size 16 for sure. I measured myself today and I'm 5'7"......shrunk an inch since high school. But, the height I think hid some of the weight (if that makes sense).
So are you relaxin the rest of the day or do you have plans for tonight?

Diana where are you?

Angie

Hey there ladies.

My work out is done. It has been for a while but I couldn't get back here until now. I did 4DS warm up, heavy shoulder and core work, LIS step, cooldown and stretch. I'm still a bit iffy on some of the choreo but I managed to do the work out in it's entirety with out throwing somthing at the tv!:p

Gotta go get ready for the party. I'll come back for personals if time allows.

Oh! BTW, Joey is going to the party as Elmo. I think I am going to be a personal trainer (lame, I know! LOL) and I think DH is gonna be either a cowboy or a welder. Either way they are both very easy "costumes" to put together.

Have a great night!
Toodles!
