C&T - Burn Those Extra Calories - Weekend

angie_mitchell

Cathlete
Morning girls,

Just about to go do my WO. I think I'm going to do L&G and Imax 3. We'll see how it goes.

Just had to check in and say my weight is down to 121.2 and I have not been this thin since early 2007!! I'm SOOO glad this double thing is working. Someone asked how long I plan to do it and it's only until my cruise. I just needed to shock my body to get bast the 124/124 mark! And it's WORKING! Thank God. I thought I was never going to lose that weight so I am thrilled.

OK, I may not be back today since we're going to Belgium. Have a great weekend all! What are you doing to burn those extra t-giving cals???

Woohoo Angie! That is awesome!

Hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving. I am totally slacking this week with the workouts, but I am ready to get back on track now. This weekend is pretty busy so I'll probably just do one body part for weights then a short session of cardio. I have to redo my last week of Insanity next week since this week was just not happening. Anyway, hope everyone is having a nice weekend so far. I need to go back and read past posts.

Lisa

Done with my WOs. I changed my mind and did Rhythmic Step instead of Imax 3. My body was asking for a break from the interval training. As it was, I couldn't even get through that. I did all 3 combos but no challenge. My legs just weren't moving after L&G. I think I can handle doubles like that when I do them two different times in the day but right after each other is tough.

Time for some breakfast, a shower, and then off for our thanksgiving!

Morning Lisa, hope this week you can get your WOs in. As usual, you're so busy!!

See y'all tomorrow!

happy thanksgiving, angie. and congrats on the weight loss!

hi lisa - ikwym about being busy. take it easy this weekend.

hey wendy, can you share a tofu recipe? great job with your wos this week.

i was so happy to go to bed last night but stayed up tooo late watching silly christmas movies with dh. i then could not move this am. stayed in bed late for me. not sure if/when i can wo today:confused:must make it a priority. i do feel better today for sleeping in, but a bit stuffy. bbiab

Morning ladies!

Lisa, I'm with you - the busy week has really affected my workout consistency and food choices. We can get back on track together, ok?

Nina, staying up late watching movies with DH sounds heavenly! Good luck getting your workout in today.

Angie, I am so impressed with your "doubles" results! I think I am going to give it a try. It is soooo hard for me to workout when I get home from work, but I just need to try and make it a habit. I would like to try cardio in the morning and lifting in the evening. Have fun at your celebration today!

*************************

This morning I have my fitness assessment at the gym that we joined. I spend one hour with a trainer and they test me on various things with speed, endurance, lifting, push ups, pull ups, sit ups, etc. Then she will put together a "Fitness Prescription" for me. I am excited!! But not totally sure I should workout before I go - kwim? I will report back to let you all know how it went.

Good Morning Everyone!

We are back home from our Thanksgiving travels. It was nice to see our family but my eating was off and no workouts. I am going to do GS Back & Chest and HISM today. My back is doing better but still not 100%. I feel like it is okay to lift.

Katie, good luck with your assessment. I would recommend light cardio so you are not too exhausted.
Nina, sorry about not feeling well. I need to sanitize my computer. My sick niece was playing with it yesterday.
Angie, ^5 on the weight loss. Maybe you should give yourself an active rest day and do CCB and the Recovery one. You would still be doing 2 workouts but it would be a break.
Lisa, ikwym about missing workouts. Hopefully you can get back on track this weekend.
Kate, I am so jealous of your outlet blitz. I would have done that too but I had to travel on Friday and I couldn't get anyone to go with me.
Wendy, sorry about your achy knees. I hope you can find a nonstep workout today.

Happy Saturday!

No workout yesterday, but I did grocery shop with all 3 kids-that counts right?! We had dress rehearsal for Nutcracker last night, too, from 4-9. Dinner was Butterfinger ice cream:eek: so if you want to boot me, I understand. Today I'm going to do cardio-probably some step or kickbox. And tomorrow will be a total body workout. The Nutcracker is tonight! I can't wait. The girls have worked so hard-especially Milla-and are so excited:)

Angie, great workouts! Have a Happy Thanksgiving in Belgique!

Lisa, at least you didn't consume your weight in ice cream as a meal! This time of year is tough!

Nina, I slept in too-til 7:45:) I would love to watch movies in bed with my dh, but he'd be asleep in minutes! Take a rest day!

Katie, you're going to rock that fitness assessment! They'll want you as a trainer not a member! Let us know how it goes.

Colleen, it always feels good to come home, doesn't it?

Klaudia, wish everyone luck from me! I'm sure they'll do great tonight!

Colleen, sanitize that computer for sure! Welcome home, it sounds like you had a good trip.

Katie, let us know what you find out at the gym, that sounds like fun.

Nina, I'm guessing you were up before 10, which is when I woke up this morning. I've been tired this week.

Angie, great job on the weight loss! How was Belgian Thanksgiving?

Lisa, I have to get back on track, too. I'll try to be more accountable here.

Hi to everyone I missed.

So, my parents, my brother, his wife and I went to lunch yesterday for my mom's birthday and we had a great time. My mom was very alert yesterday and she was engaged and FUNNY. She was teasing my dad like she used to, so that was fun to see. Then my brother took them home and I went for girl's night out. It was fun, just rather subdued. I didn't stay that late because I had an hour drive home, but I'm glad I went.

I decided I'm going to go to a movie, either today or tomorrow, I don't know yet. We'll see.

Have a great Saturday, everyone!

anne

4DS KB done. Now I need to start getting ready for the recital. Eats are good too-cereal and 2 clementines for breakfast and leftover turkey chili for lunch. I'll probably have a salad for dinner. I do need to start cutting down on the cream and sugar in my coffee-it's all the little extras that I'm not really counting that are hurting me in the long run, I think.

Anne, thanks for the well wishes-I'll definitely tell the girls:) Glad you had such a nice time with your family. What movie are you going to see?

Hi Robin! Hope you get a break soon!

klaudia, have a great time at the recitasl and take pics - wish i could go! great wo!!

katie, how was the assessment? that sounds so cool.

robin, you are probably having marathon wos at work. take it easy, okay?

hi anne - i am so glad you had good family time yday, and that you still went out with the girls. 10am sounds so decadant:D

hi colleen - how do you sanitize your computer? glad you are back safe and sound.

well, today was supposed to be clean max, and i just didn't:eek: i worked out during quiet time - 8 mile hard hills circuited with ub weights - fun and the time flew by. everyone else in the household napped:cool: this am finn and i drove 40 min each way to a bday party i could have done without. greasy pizza, cake, and juice by 11:45am - wtheck?? why treat our kids that way? anyways, i am just not used to it b/c i try to give my kids good stuff. i had to restrain myself from leaving early to avoid the junk. finn had fun, so i will just let it go, have a nutritious dinner. my eats are off d/t late wo. not too bad though. tnoight we are putting lights outside and playing flashlight tag. i love quiet weekends. tomorrow is my long run day and all the cleaning i did not do today:eek:

by the way, kate, safe travels home, and i am totally jealous of your shopping. dh and i decided not to do presents to try to cut back a bit where we can. ah well - all i wanted was exercise stuff. i can make do;)

hi ladies! lots of errands with dh today.

b - oatmeal, apples, pecans, coffee
l - ham and cheese with spinach and tomato
we are having my fam for dinner but doing takeout from around the corner -- im having a grilled chicken salad.

there was no time for wo today but i feel ok abt taking a rest day.

nina, sometimes cleanmax just isnt in the cards! i will post some tofu recipes later, my go-to is marinate and bake, its easy and versatile...

hi robin!!

klaudia, tell the girls to break a leg!

anne, glad to hear your mom was having a good night!

colleen, nice workout planned!

katie, let us know how the assessment goes! i hope the trainers there are good, some gyms not so much.

Morning ladies. The fitness assessment yesterday was an eye opening experience for sure - some good news and some bad. Here is what I found out...

VO2 MAX; I had to run 18 laps/1.5 miles around the track as fast as I could (time was 14 mins and change) which gave me a VO2 MAX of 36.52 / AVERAGE
BMI was 26.90 / OVERWEIGHT
Blood Pressure was OPTIMAL
Body Fat was 28.90% / WELL BELOW AVERAGE <-------------YIKES
Flexibility was 23.0 inches / WELL ABOVE AVERAGE
Muscular Endurance (Push-ups) was 42 / WELL ABOVE AVERAGE
Muscular Endurance (Curl-ups) was 34 / AVERAGE
Muscular Strength (Chest Press) was 90 pounds / BELOW AVERAGE
Muscular Strenth (Leg Press) was 200 pounds / BELOW AVERAGE

We talked a bit after the test about the results and basically what she thinks is this... When my race training started, my lifting fell by the wayside and my workouts became much more about muscular endurance (which makes sense for race training). So that, combined with the 5# or so I gained (more like 7 now, YIKES) is what is causing my Muscular Strength numbers to be low / "below average" (because this is calculated based on body weight/one rep max ratio). Also, the extra weight could be slowing me down enough for my VO2 MAX to be in the "AVERAGE" range.

*PS - I do NOT like to be called AVERAGE (or worse yet, BELOW AVERAGE)

So she will spend the week putting together a program for me and we will meet again next Saturday to go over this. I think basically what she wants me to do is #1 jack up the intensity of my cardio at home (she mentioned running hill repeats, ugghhh), #2 continue with mainly muscular endurance workouts at home, #3 add a few sessions of muscular strength at the center, and #4 maybe add a session of cardio at the gym using a piece of eqipment I don't have at home.

Sorry the above post was so long - and I wanted to submit it before my laptop mysteriously caused me to lose it all!

We are off to church in a few minutes, then grocery shopping, etc. Not sure what workout I am going to do today - will report back later.

Morning!

The recital last night was fantastic! Both Milla and Danica did a great job:) I'm very proud of all their hard work and it made all the driving around worthwhile to see them having so much fun on stage. Today we have a bowling birthday party at 2 which means bad food:( And Darrin just made pancakes and bacon for the girls. Arrgh! I will do my best. I'm going to do a total body workout today-probably Muscle Max. I'm suprisingly sore from the kickbox I did yesterday. I'll take it!

Nina, birthday parties are so hard-food options are nil-especially when they're not at home. Your day sounded fun-how'd it go?

Wendy, great eats yesterday!

Katie, I can't imagine your bmi being that high. You have a lot of muscle and that factors into the equation. And the V02 Max testing is supposed to be done on a treadmill with a mask on your face to get an accurate measurement. And if a 90# chest press is average, I'm screwed! I've never benched that much in my life! I say take it with a grain of salt. It looks like you have great muscular endurance, why keep putting the focus there? But then, I'm no trainer. Give it a try and see how it goes. It can't hurt, right?

good morning - quick fly bye

katie, dito what klaudia said. some trainers know nothing! why have you do more endurance if that is what you have been doing? and that is no way to measure vo2 for sure. bmi is such a subjective thing unless your body type is totally average - son't place too much stock in it.

kaludia, so glad the recital went well. any pics?

crazy so far this am - 18miler, pub, and clean max. can i have a npa now?? biab

happy sunday, ladies!

nina, 18 miles?!?!?!? holy cow!!!! yes, go take a nap.

klaudia, so glad the recital was fab! and muscle max look out, klaudias gonna get you =)

katie, maybe i dont understand the measurements completely, but i cant imagine your bmi is that bad. and 28.9% bf for women is not bad, i think? even if that was accurate for you...how did they measure these?

b - luna bar, coffee
just had leftover roasted veggies and turkey form thurs.
no idea whats for dinner -- i need to fod shop!

i also need to motivate and get a workout going NOW while JJ is down. bbiab.

Hi Everyone,

Taking a quick break before lunch. It was good to get back to normal yesterday. I subbed Imax 2 for HISM and it was good. I was tired and didn't think I would make it through but I survived. Today I did 30 minutes of HLX and Weights and Plates abs.

Nina, Chris and I don't exchange gifts anymore either. We realized that we were buying each other things we would buy anyway and driving ourselves crazy to get the gifts. It also helped with the budget too. We usually splurge and either cook a nice dinner or go out to a nice dinner to compensate.
Klaudia, I am so glad the recital went well. Now you have a short break before the holiday madness.
Katie, I agree with Klaudia and Nina. Some bodybuilders have a very high BMI.
Wendy, how was your family dinner?
Anne, what movie did you see?
Hi Robin & Lisa!

Colleen, your work outs sound great.

Wendy, what work out did you decide to do?

Nina, 18 miles AND PUB? You are crazy, woman, but way to go!

Klaudia, I'm so glad the recital went well and the girls had fun. How was the bowling?

Katie, those numbers seem off to me, but maybe it's time to hit the weights heavy again for a little while? Do you have any more races coming up? If not, focus on strength, perhaps.

Welcome back, Kate!

Hi Lisa and Robin! Who did I miss?

Well, I did nothing yesterday. One load of laundry, that was the only productive thing. I'm amazed at my capacity for sloth, but there it is. I just don't have any motivation right, and I'm just going to go with it for a while longer. The divorce was final last week and it's thrown me into another funk. But, I'm working on it. I did finish a really good book yesterday (The Paper Boy by Pete Dexter), so that's something.

I had pizza rolls for lunch today. But, I'm making chili for dinner and I'll have leftovers. I'm using ground beef, but it's 90/10 sirloin, so I don't think it's too bad. And I'm putting in lots of onion, celery, bell pepper and tomato, so it will have plenty of veggies. I only seem to cook a real meal about once a week, but then I have the leftovers through the week, so I guess that's okay.

I am going to try to do a Timesaver work out today. We'll see. I'm going to see The Blind Side tonight, which is supposed to be good. Other than that I'm playing Bejeweled and doing more laundry.

Have a good Sunday, everybody!

anne

Hey all,

I took a much needed rest day today. My calves and hamstrings were super tight and I was just all around tired. Plus, in my attempt to avoid the appetizer table last night, I stayed in the kitchen and had WAY too much wine and felt quite off this morning!

We had a great time yesterday and I'm so glad we had people to celebrate Thanksgiving with and eat all the normal things. The stuffing was so good and it just tasted like America. :)

Katie, I have to agree with everyone else - don't get yourself so worked up about the numbers but if it upsets you, figure out something that will change it. I know everyone here loves heavy lifting but I just don't think it works for me so even though I want to do the "cool" thing, I have to stick with what works.

Nina, sorry about the birthday bust! Keep in mind that it's not everyday that he's eating like that and it's ok for a splurge here and there - as long as it doesn't become the norm. WTG on your 18 miler!

Kate, I'm so jealous that you're going to Disney! I have been researching WDW lately and I can't wait to take my girls there. I think it's going to kick DLP's butt! :)

Klaudia, so glad that the Nutcracker went so well! How fun and festive for you and your family! Good luck with MM! That's a toughie!

Anne, I think if I lived alone and had only myself to be responsible for, I would feel somewhat slothish as well. Don't worry, it's a new stage of life and it's different for you. Go get a pedicure or something this week to lift your spirits!

Colleen, one more week of work?!?! Are you excited? Ryan and I have a hard time buying each other gifts too. What can I actually surprise him with? What does he want that he hasn't already bought? It helps with the budget for us too!

Wendy, hope you had a nice errand day yesterday with dh. I really love those - without kids! Ryan has the day off tomorrow and I would love to go out to lunch with him but there is nowhere to go that has decent food. :(

Robin, hope work wasn't too crazy this weekend.

Well, I'm going to watch this week's biggest loser (where are they now? episode) and go to bed. Tomorrow we're doing insanity and then I'll do some sort of circuit.

Eats will be 100% tomorrow!

Later all!
