Hello there- I love this website- I am new to it- I have been working out for years (step/jumping rope) but have taken up weight lifting in the last year. I started with the Firm moved on to Kathy Smith and in the last 2 months have don Muscle Endurance and Cardio & Weights w/ Cathe (I love them)and I lift a few pd.s short of what Cathe lifts- I also jump rope FAST 4-6 x week and walk briskly 4 mi. 2-3 x week.I am 5 ft. weigh 108-112, slight build- how long will it take me to get the "cut" fit cathe look? Do I need to take supplements (pills/protein/shakes-I really don't want to)Which DVDs should I get next to help me achieve that cathe look- pyramid?slow & heavy? How much in muscle weight should I expect to gain from lifting weights? I really want to step it up a notch & see some more muscle-I try to eat healthy but probably need more protein, veggies & fish- anyone feel free to answer- I have tried to e-mail cathe and I know she is a busy person- thanks, deb

hey deb! just wanted to give this a reply & bump it up because i'd love to have these questions answered also! hopefully someone will help because i too don't really want to lose weight but moreso want to build lean muscle mass and get that 'cut' look!

i can give you a little advice, if you've ever been to your local GNC the people who work there seem to know what they're talking about and are very helpful and hands on. (the ones i have been to anyway!) i would go in and ask about protein drinks or supplements appropriate form women to use that will help gain muscle more quickly.

:)

You probably want to post this over on the Open Discussion if you want input from folks other than Cathe. :) Not everyone comes to this board...

I can already tell you, they will want to know how clean your diet is, what kind of muscle you may already have, what kind of weight workouts you like (endurance vs. strength), etc.

Good luck!
Marie

Hi- Cathe doesn't answer questions about supplements or diet. Slow and Heavy and Gym Styles might help, checkout OneBuffMom's 12 WEEK MELTDOWN CHALLENGE in the success stories section.

I wouldn't recommend going to GNC, they generally just push you to buy worthless stuff and things are alot cheaper in the Vitamin Shoppe or Vitamin World stores. Creatine can help pump up muscles more and is safe, look into that if you want to take a supplement.
