BUFF BADGERS

Hello there! We finally got some snow this morning! It looks different to see somethig other than brown out the window!:)

I did Pyramid Lower Body this morning and will do my NordicTrack for 40 minutes after work. I am going to try the "freestyle" approach this month where you work you legs daily, upper body 2x per week and I'll be doing cardio at least 30-40 minutes 5 days a week.

I had good results doing this about 2 years ago and hope it works again! HAve a good day! Susan

Morning BB's,

Today will be ME / Abs / and 30 min. Run.

Had our first workshop for the Ren Faire this weekend. Time will fly by after this.

Susan, I have heard great things about freestyle, good luck with your new rotation.

Have a great day!

Laurie

Hi Everyone!

Had some a couple good workouts this weekend. Did CM. Haven't done that in awhile. I still really like that one.

After school I plan on some Christi cardio and Kari's Curl.

Ordered Kelly Coffey-Meyer's The Shape of Things To Come. My last video purchase for awhile. This one looks like a good circuit workout.

Sticking with my good eating habits. I'm hoping I will lose at least 5lbs. by March.

Good workouts Everyone!

Cynthia

P.S. Kevin Hunt did his 1st broadcast out here last night. I'm glad he's out here. I always liked him and most of the sports casters here aren't very good.

Good Morning BB's!!!

You will never guess what! I did a morning workout (which I have not done since Ella was born!) I got up at 5:30 this morning and did it before she got up. I am so proud of myself. I did Strong Bear.

I do have a question for all you morning workout people. What do you eat BEFORE you workout? I could tell a difference in my stamina and weight lifting ability compared to when I workout at night. I just felt weaker this morning. Any tips???

Hope you all have a fantastic day!

Cynthia, I was wondering where Kevin Hunt went. Channel 4 fired him. I thought he was funny, never really heard the gossip yet on why they fired him. I usually hear something, with my DH working in the business.

Laurie

Good morning,

I got up early and ran three miles this morning. This week I start to increase my mileage by adding another running day. I may have to switch my rest day to Friday, since Saturdays are long runs. I struggled this past Saturday, I think because my legs were still tired from my workout the day before.

Traffic was AWFUL today! I had to take my car to the dealer to get my brakes replaced, and we were inching along. There was a 37-car pileup near my doctor's office too. Crazy.

Robin, for the last few years I've been drinking about a cup of soy milk before I work out in the morning. Sometimes if I'm really hungry I'll have a granola bar too, but I can't eat much solid food before workouts. Soy milk seems to give me enough protein to feel relatively full and like I can exercise.

Have a great day!

Ellen

We had some snow in Oshkosh too. Wet and slushy. I continued with my Legs & Glutes rotation over the weekend, did L&G plus 200 walking lunges, CTX Upper Body, CTX Kickbox, and Power Circuit. Kind of un-did myself with some pretty unclean eating though! I had one straggler of a holiday party to go to last night.

Susan - Freestyle training sounds good. I might try that when I'm done with my current rotation.

Laurie - Interesting to hear that you're involved with the Ren Fair. I think a couple librarians here at work go to that every year. One dresses up, I *think*.

Robin - Yay for you on the morning workout!! That's great! :) I'm not a morning exerciser, but I aspire to be one someday! know how hard it is to fit exercise in with young children. I don't know if it's in my DNA to get up early voluntarily, though.

Ellen - good for you on your running! Wow, a 37 car pile-up! That's awful! It was messy this morning on my way to work, too. A car turned the corner and just spun out of control close to me. I felt lucky it didn't spin into me.

Have a good Monday everyone! - Sarah

Hi BBs!
I just did a walking workout this morning. Sat was spin class but didn't get to the gym on Sun. DH had the banquet/holiday party for his running club on Sat night and if we go it is at 6:30 when they open. Wasn't happening this week.

Susan - what is the theory with Freestyle? Why do you work your legs daily? Tell us more.

Cynthia & Laurie - what is all this about Kevin Hunt? I hate that you never hear when someone is leaving. Just suddenly there is someone new.

Laurie - hearing about Ren Faire makes me think summer will be here soon. Yeah!!! Even though this winter has been so wonderfully mild, I am anxiously awaiting Spring and Summer.

Robin - I usually don't have anything prior to working out but if anything, I will have some peanuts. You could try something light - a banana or some nuts or protein drink. It does take getting used to working out in the morning and I still doubt at 4/4:30am I will ever feel the same as I do later in the day. I select workouts that are less complicated.

Sarah - I am a morning person but 4am is still tough. I wouldn't get up on my own - DH wakes me.

Hi, everyone!

Susan - Let us know how your freestyle rotation goes. I definitely need help thinning my thighs but don't know how to put together a good freestyle rotation.

Laurie- Planning Ren Faire already? I guess I just figured you guys all showed up the first week of summer and everything magically happened. ;-) That's what our users think anyway - everything just magically happens.

Robin - Hurray for the morning workout! It worked much better for me when my kids were small to workout early a.m. and now I do it so nothing can come up later in the day and thwart my plans. I eat a small bowl of cereal and milk, 1/2 bagel with peanut butter or 1/2 a protein bar. A little bit of protein and carb works best for me.

Ellen - No 37 car pileups to report but it's like people forgot to drive on snow. A lot of people were overly cautious and slow this morning.

Marie - How are you liking spinning? Have you noticed any toning in your legs?

Sarah - Sounds like you did a workout marathon over the weekend! Good job.

On Saturday I did half of Mindy's Awesome Intervals before my brain just couldn't handle learning more new choreography. LOL I like Mindy but she sure doesn't know how to cue very well. She's very athletic though which I like. Finished up with the last segment from the Wedding Video (just felt like doing it).

On Sunday I did FYC with Susan Harris. Jill - I liked this one much better than SIM. The exercises felt more effective and natural to me. I really feel it in my legs today, too. Still have BBBB and EIM to try.

This morning I did Step Blast. Didn't think I'd have enough time to finish since I slept in a bit but I squeaked it in.

Sure hope Cathe gets the go-ahead from her doctor soon to tape the new workouts. While I like the new stuff I've been doing, it just doesn't compare to Cathe in intensity.

Have a great day everyone!

Sue

Sue - I have noticed that pants seem loser in my thighs. Although it has only been 4 weeks/7 spin sessions. I don't use a lot of tension yet and focus on increasing the cadence. I want to talk to the instructor to see what would be best for thinning thighs and burning fat. I am afraid the higher tension would bulk my thighs that don't need any more bulking! I go tomorrow night and will see if I have a chance to talk to her before class. I bought some spin shoes so now I look like I know what I'm doing.

I agree with your hopes that Cathe gets a good report and can start filming soon. I am not expecting the new ones though until April or May. But the winter series looked good so not sure what will happen with these now. I certainly understand about unexpected injuries but still anxious even if just some more info.

Snow - oh, snow. A distant memory. Here in NY, it has been a record January - 12 days of 50+ degree weather!! They've cancelled winter, apparently. It's like bloody April every day. It's about 60 today. Lovely, but not winter, not January, and certainly no snow. :-(

I don't eat anything. I drink about 3 glasses of water. I don't like to eat before I workout... Susan

Freestyle training is training your lower body 4-6 times per week and upper body 2 times per week. By working your legs everyday (or most days) instead of building up you are leaning out the muscle in the legs. Rest days, they say equals growth. If you want to lean out you work them without rest days.

An example of my week would be:
Monday- Pyramid Lower Body, 30-40 mn of cardio
Tues- Muscle Endurance, 30 minutes cardio
Wedn- Kick, Punch, Crunch
Thur- Power Hour, 30 mn of cardio
Fri- Leaner Legs, 30 mn of cardio
Saturday- Pyramid Lower Body, CTX Kickbox cardio
Sunday - walk only.

I also do some Pilates for my lower half in the evenings. It helps me stretch and lengthen. It takes about 20 minutes.
